Q:I HAVE A 2001 FORD ESCAPE WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN THE EMISSION SYSTEM LIGHT GOES ON?: It's possible that one of the emission control parts on your car failed. Most mechanic have a OBD 2 scanner to retrieve the code or parts stores like Auto Zone does it for free. The code will tell you what parts failed, by disconnecting the battery will clear the light but it will come back on because the problem is not corrected

The lights come on and then go off as a check of the system. Check engine light has to do with emissions so not to worry if it comes and stays on just make sure the gas cap is put on properly after you put gas in it that usually triggers it to stay on most of the time.

Q:96 silverado 350 4x4, this morning on the way to work had the cruise set at 60, hit a hill and it downshifted a gear and started to bog down a little so I gave her some more gas and it cleared up, and happened a couple times just going down a flat stretch, the service engine soon light came on, I‘m guessing its the fuel filter, but would the fuel filter being bad cause the service engine soon light to come on? Or is it something more than that? Thanks guys: I know that you are trying to start with the cheapest stuff but, the problem is probably NOT the fuel filter (filters plugging up is just not an issue with vehicles today) Yours is probably going to need a fuel pump assembly The fuel injection system on this vehicle HAS to have 60 PSI fuel pressure or you will have all kinds of drivability issues! And to answer your question, Yes, a restricted fuel filter WILL turn on the MIL (check engine light) in this vehicle if it is driven long enough and will set system lean codes P0171 and P0174! NOTE: Take the vehicle by the auto parts store to have them retrieve the codes (write them down on paper) and then update your findings!

It is made the way BENZ engiens are made with HIGH SILICON CYLLIDNER WALL CONTENT! EXCELLENT! I suggest that most of your WOES were cause by NEGLECT and using CHEAPEST OIL! You can tap on the motor with a plastic hammer while someone pushes the button on the dash.

Q:Has anyone been having problems with Windows Updates lately? The past couple of times, my computer had automatic Windows updates, and I‘ve had problems turning my computer back on. The power light comes on, the CD/DVD drive light flashes as it should, but the system doesn‘t kick in or start up (no Windows splash screen, etc.).It‘s only when I unplugged and plugged in the computer itself, that my computer came back on. The same thing happened once before, after the previous Windows Auto update. I have turned off the auto update function in the Control Panel.Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do to make sure I don‘t have this problem again? I‘m afraid to turn off my computer now, as I might not be able to turn it back on. I have an HP Pavilion with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.: That and more. my most recent problems with Auto Update were updates changing drivers or firmware. I haven't had any problems since disabling the updates. You might need to do a system restore and then disable the updates and simply choose the files yourself to update.

Any one else know?: The most efficient way to begin your diagnosis is to get to the nearest auto parts store and ask them to pull your computer codes. Most parts stores will do this for free. Once you have the codes, go home and do an online search for the cleaning and test procedures for each suspect component that appears in your code list. Never replace anything based solely on the report from a code reader or scanner. These devices are very helpful but cannot determine whether a component is defective or just dirty. Clean and test all suspect components then have the codes that you've addressed cleared from the computer by an auto parts store.
