Q: I have a 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i that occasionally would have the ABS light illuminate after braking. The problem is occurring more and more often. When the ABS light is on, none of the rear brake lights work while applying the brake. If the ABS light comes on right after starting the car, I cannot shift out of park without repeatedly stepping on the brake or restarting the car. The ABS light is always on with the the ETC-Off light (never ABS light alone)Cruise control can‘t be used during these occurrences.: maybe to the new tire price but you definally cannot fix a hole in the side of your tire. the single tire price shouldn't be even close to 137$ considering they are not low profile tires

Q: I have a 2000 honda accord ex and the check engine light is on, i took it to advanced auto and they couldnt find the code but a few days later i took it back because it was still on on they said something about a o2 sensor or circuit then a couple days later i took it to the dealer i bout it from and they couldnt find the code what should i do cuz i have to take the car in for emissions: You will need to have the converter replaced. The cat code is po420 or po430. You cannot just re-set the light and go through smog test, the code will be stored in the computer. There is no way around passing until you replace the converter and turn the light off. Also, nobody uses a tailpipe tester on a 2000 year vehicle, all they do is hook up a scanner and read for codes.

Q: I have a 2006 Ford Escape XLT and I was wondering if there is a way to make it where the daytime running lamps aren‘t always on. I thought Daytime Running Lights (DRL) were supposed to turn off if it was sunny outside, but I guess I was wrong.: Unlike GM's there is no easy way (pressing of switches in a certain order) to turn off the DRL. For Ford's you are stuck with this feature, unless you want to start tampering with the LCM (lighting control module) very expensive to replace if you FUBAR it. Here's my pet peeve about DRL's-I understand they are a safety feature, but in city driving the benefits are lowered vs. country/highway driving, so there is really no use for it in that situation. Also, constant on/off of the lights (such as turning on and off the car) and high hour use of the lights means more frequent bulb replacements and a drain on the electrical system (impacting your battery and alternator). The later isn't much of an issue unless you run alot of aftermarket equipment that draws a lot of power. Also, if everyone has DRLs it's almost a pointless thing. Kinda like if everyone had HID lights. Since it just becomes an annoyance for other drivers. These are just some of the things that auto makers neglect to think of when they push these safety features on the public.

Since the late 60's all autos went to a dual braking system to prevent complete brake failure if one brake line failed. When you push on the pedal a ball bearing resting in the center of the brake manifold valve will be pushed by the unexpected force of brake fluid in the direction of the leaky line. The ball bearing will then fall into the passage and stop the flow. The emergency light comes on also because the ball bearing made a connection for the light when it moved No it is not safe to drive this way. you have lost a lot of braking capability.Check the brake fluid level and add if needed. No tailgating for sure!

Q: And of course the check engine light. I have taken it to an AutoZone, and the code came back stating that the ignition area had problems. So I had the spark plugs changed, a week ago. This morning, as I was driving into work, lo the lights came on again. Oy, I'm not sure what to do next? Flush the coolant system? Take it to a mechanic to look at??: Any mechanic with a brain knows that you have a problem with the ABS system that sets those lights together. You need an ABS scan tool...NOT the code reader for OBD II that the sales people at auto stores have. You also don't want the High School dropouts working at the fast lube oil change joints to diagnose (guess in their case) your problem. Go tot he dealer if you want this done right. I 'm making an educated guess it's going to be a bad wheel speed sensor in the left or right front.
