Q: ok i own a 2000 silverado 4.3L Vortec engine. last year i put true duals, no muffler but the cats still there. the cats have been burned through and are jut pipe basically now. anyway the o2 sensors along the right pipe are ruined one is cut off and the other is melted to the pipe. the right pipe is questionable. anyway i recently put a cold air intake on with stock tubing. i used the old sensor thing with the electrical plug. i decided to just run the filter literaly on the intake manifold. the truck actualy runs and the service engine soon light went off????? so i took it for a drive and it runs great!!! better than ever and i can hear the filter. i like it but i noticed my transmission cause its auto that it is shifting a lot smoother and actualy faster. like short quick shifts.!! i plan on running it like this permenantly is that good idea???: They will cost more than you will gain back. Cold air intake is about $370.00 and exhaust is at least $250.00. If you gain 1mpg it will take a while to get it back.

Q: how would we be able to change our transportation system? could we possibly go to a model like walt disney?: That's strictly a toy, I'm afraid, however attractive. Q: ok so i have a 2005 chevy aveo basic model (automatic, no power windows or anything). the fuel pump went out and we just go tit replaced by a family friend who is a mechanic and long story short i just got it home and as i was driving it home the check engine light came on. i dont know if its just because of the new pump and i just need to give it some tine or what. the car runs strong and there is nothing else mechanically wrong with it. so is there a way to reset it or does anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance :): If you go to Autozone or Advanced Auto they will come out and scan it for free and tell you what the code is. Q: the hole that the sending unit was covering was removed for about 2 hours(used a rag to cover it up)but there was a full tank of gas in there. When the gas went down to about 3/4 tank, the light came on. Could this be because of air being in the tank? It‘s been 3 days, so how long should I drive before taking it to the mechanic? everything else works just fine: take the battery cable off then replace it the light will go off.

Q: I just bought a 2003 Corolla 71K miles end of feb. Now i haven‘t had a problem with the car at all but last week i had checked the antifreeze and the over Flow was dry in my old car i Always had it in there (told my mechanic to do so) now the radiator itself looked empty as well but when i filled it it didn‘t take much so im guessing there was some since i didn‘t overheat either. well now last night we went out and did a bunch of things came home got up at 5 this morning for work and my check engine light was on , so we didn‘t drive it. later on we checked fluid they are finei didn‘t get gas or anything i know that sometimes sets that light off but i did mess with it just in case its still on any idea what this lights on for?!?! can i go to like advanced auto part for a test?BTW- I heard that its my oxygen sensor. but if this is true. i just bought the car in feb in which it was also inspected as of 02/09. are they liable? even though my warranty is up?: First of all an engine light is there for one purpose only. That is emissions. If your car is running lean or rich, if a sensor that helps determine air/fuel ratio goes bad, etc. Too lean. Typically this is caused by false air Air entering the intake after the MAF sensor. Check for a Vacuum hose loose or disconnected. This is a typical problem after service. A tech will check your air filter and a vacuum line becomes disconnected from the box. Sometimes we find cracks in the intake itself. Run your engine and listen for a hissing sound. If you don't hear a sound there still may be a leak. Check all the vacuum lines. Have autozone run a code check for you. That should narrow your search. Hope this helps.

Q: I left my gas cap off and someone told me this may have caused my check engine light to come on. Well I filled the tank and drove it a bit, but the light is still on. I drive a 99 chevy malibu. I will echo the warning that your catalytic converter is not the top suspect. The youngest converter I have seen that was bad was 18 years old and was on a car with a carburetor. Get it diagnosed and fixed rather than throwing money at it. I have never seen a car with a P0420 code (catalyst efficiency below threshold) that needed a new catalytic converter. Sometimes putting a new converter on will make it enough better for the light to go away for a few months, then it comes back. Fix the cause, not the symptom.

Q: Car head light color temperature 4300k or 5000k which lights: Low color temperature penetration of some stronger, yellow color, rainy days fog better. 5000K looks comfortable some bright, penetrating power as 4300K. In fact, these two can not be a lot of difference.

Which is the best?: every 6 mos is a lot to extream unless you do a really lot of city driving driving . pads come w/ sensors on them . brake pads when thet start to wear down too far will start to squell then repace them asap . the people that let it go ion too long are the one who have to buy calipers and rotors (if you went to an honest shop)

The first and easiest thing to check is the gas cap to make sure it's tight. If that's not it, it's likely a sensor problem. You can look around the engine compartment to make sure there aren't any disconnected or damaged wires. Beyond that, it's probably best to have the error codes read. The codes can be read at a dealership or repair shop but most auto parts stores should also be able to do it. Each error code corresponds to a more specific problem, for example a malfunctioning oxygen sensor (that's a common one).
