Q: My 2000 Toyota Celica GT has a check engine light on it. I took it to an auto parts store and had it scanned. It gave me the following codes:P0300 - Random Misfire DetectedP0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire DetectedP0171 - System Too Lean (Bank 1)I put fuel injector cleaner in it today, as well as cleaned the MAF sensor. Sometimes when I‘m accelerating , the check engine light flashes then go back to staying on. I‘ve checked all over for vacuum leaks and cannot find a thing. I‘ve noticed a little oil on top of the engine, but I‘m not sure if this is the problem. It idles at around 1500RPM when I start it then it drops down to 500-700RPM. If I turn my lights on the fuel gauge and clock dim. The A/C and defrost make a god awful noise when I turn it on (I‘m guessing the clutch on the compressor is bad).: Yes, the rubber gets harder and the tire contracts and leaks around the rim can start. Q: So, My check engine light came on about 2-3 weeks ago. The code read p10702 bank 1 (system too rich). I had the o2 sensor replaced and it was fine for a while. Btw my cars a Vw gti 2001 idk if that helps or not.: problem is usually in emissions system, but can be any number of sensors that are sending the wrong signal to ECM. what you need is to have a mechanic with a scanner do a diagnostic check and make an written estimate on cost to repair. Cost to do this will be about $60, but is well worth if done correctly. Otherwise you are just throwing parts at the problem hoping for a fix. Note a scanner is not a code reader it is a computer that talks to your vehicles computer, ECM PCM

Options? must pass emissions within the next month- HELP!!: You will need to have the converter replaced. The cat code is po420 or po430. I think it might be illegal to tamper with your lights, but maybe that's only in Canada. But I imagine any shop that can install a car alarm could help you. ...for maybe $400. NAPA or some auto parts store might have some module you can just solder in but it's unlikely.
