Q: I want to put LED lights under my passenger and driver side foot area? How would I install the lightings?
There are a few different approaches you can use to acheive the desired effect. I've added custom lighting similar to what you're looking for to many of our restoration projects. I would begin by removing the front seats. 4 bolts and a little manuvering to get them out is worth the time saved trying to work around them. Next you'll need to find a suitable mounting location under the dash. Be very watchful of what you're considering running a screw into. In many vehicles the ducting is accessible under the dash. A hole here will cause the system to leak and due to expansion/contraction will eventually cause the LED light fixture to fall out. As far as getting power to the fixtures find your fuse box and install a new line. Most boxes will have 1 or 2 empty slots that you can use for accessories. If you don't have experience running a new line from a fuse box you can purchase a stacked connector at any auto parts store. This will allow you to pick a currently active fuse (radio for example) and piggyback off it's power source. This will also ensure the light fixtures only receive power with the ignition on. Custom lighting is just thatbe creative. A slow and steady approach is much better than haphazardly mounting crap under the dash and duct taping wires. Take your time, read the LED light manufacturers recommended voltage/amp levels and get to work. Hope this helps!
Q: I purchased a car 4/4 that was inspected in 3/11. The same mechanic (affiliated w/the dealer) who passed the car through inspection is now saying that the transmisison needs to be replaced! We have complained and tried to return the car for a month since we were lied to and our complaints were disregarded the whole time; I have filed a complaint with the attorney general and forwarded them a copy; but they are not budging. The fact that it had just passed inspection a month earlier made me think I didn’t need a mechanic to look at it prior to purchase. Is this in any way illegal?
No state I've ever lived in would fail to pass a vehicle thru inspection based on a tranny related issue unless the thing just didn't shift. Most inspections take place with the car at rest. One has nothing to do with the other. that should be deemed unsafe because it could go out at any minute, can pass an inspection? In PA, and VA, they check the MECHANICAL of the breaks, lights. safety equipment. I've had inspections in PA where they did not and were not required to start the car other than to check the electrical. For the most part : ANY PART IN A CAR CAN GO OUT AT ANY MINUTE. Check engine light can be something as simple as a loose gas cap. 2 months after inspection? How many cars have you had inspected? 1-2? Sorry; I'm just telling you how it works, not what you want to hear. You may have a perfectly valid claim against the dealer; bur not catching a tranny problem during inspection (which was the question) is not going to be a valid complaint unless your state is one of the rare ones that requires a road test; and even then ,that is no slam dunk the tranny acted up while he had it on the road. I just suggest you need to base your fraud claim on something other than a passed inspection or you'll look foolish. And FYI: here are PA's inspection requirements. I had probably 25 done over the years. Q: The car left the house fine, with no indicator lights. After I got back in after leaving the bank, both the Brake and Battery light came on. I parked it back at the house and the fluid level is fine, the oil level is fine, and the belts are intact (as far as I can tell). I went back later to start the car and it sounded like it turned over, although it apparently did not as the RPMs were 0, it was super quiet, and when put into gear, it would not budge or rev. The brake jammed up too but I was able to get it back in park. then the check engine and oil pressure lights came on! The air was blowing hot and the radio was still playing. I turned it back off and it revved and the air was cool again, although the original two lights were still one (the others turned off). I didn‘t put it into gear so I can‘t speak on it this time around. The car has had a recent alternator and battery change (last year) and a wreck sometime long ago, before my dad got it.WHAT IS UP?
Multiable warning lights sounds like another alternator issue. Better have the charging system and battery tested. If you can hook up a battery charger and a auto parts store is near by drive it over or call dad to check to test and replace the alternator. Good Luck

Q: I was looking into buying this 91 sonoma with the TBI 4.3 engine. I had it running for about 5 minutes while I was inspecting everything, and then the service light came on. So I checked for codes and got none. Turned the car back on, light came back on a couple minutes later. Gauges read fine, no leaks, idle, or acceleration problems. I have the same problem with my 92 except it does have a problem every now and then. What could this be on this truck?

Q: I have a 99 Grand AM GT. Service engine light came on. Took it to auto zone for a diagnostics test, the test said bad gas cap. I bought another gas cap, and replaced the potentially faulty gas cap. the light is still on. Of course it could be another problem regarding the evap system.How long can it take for the service engine soon light to go away after a problem has been resolved?
HONESTLY I DONT THINK IS GOING TO TURN OFF PRETTY SOON, IT MAY UNESPECTALLY BUT TO BE SURE TRY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FOR A WHOLE DAY AND NIGHT AND MAYBE IT SHUTS OFF.
Q: I‘ve had a Viper V5701 remote start/security system in my 93 accord for over two years now and it has been great! But over the past month I‘ve had a terrible habit of leaving my lights on my car, and my battery died. My alarm system seemed to power through just find, but last week my battery died because I left my lights on again. Once I recharged my battery and slapped it in, my Viper alarm system wouldn‘t work! #1 is just the pure shiny copper. Wires stripped and no casings. #2 is copper wires that have had the casings burnt off. This makes the copper look Black from the heat. Of course, you get more money with #1!!
Q: How come the C.E.S. lits every now and then and then stops, and then lits again. I have a chevy blazer 96 if that helps. The Check Engine Soon light comes on when the on-board engine controller senses a problem with the engine or transmission, that will cause the vehicles' emission levels to reach 1and1/2 times the federal limit. Simply put, the engine controller senses a fault in one (or more) of the systems it controls. There are literally dozens of items that can cause the light to come on, such as a loose gas cap, weak Oxygen sensor, engine misfire, and so on. You need to have the computer scanned for fault code(s), and repair as necessary. As has been mentioned, Auto Zone will scan the vehicle for free, and give you an idea of what part of the computer system the problem is in. Or, take the vehicle to a trusted auto repair shop and have it scanned and repaired. If it is something like a bad Oxygen sensor, it could cause the engine to run rich and melt the catalytic converter, which can run into a lot of money. My advice is as I stated above, take the vehicle to a trusted shop, have them scan the computer and give you an estimate for repair. HTH!! Good Luck!!
