- Q: I have a 1994 Honda civic ex with a manual transmission and I‘m having trouble with the tranni. So I was wondering where can I get agood but cheap tranni and how much could it come out too. Thanks.
- Whatever you do, don't get a junker from junk yard. About half the cost of tranny swap is the labor. So why spend all that money and risk putting back a tranny of unkown quality. Good Luck.
- Q: i have a 1970 pontaic le mans.i put in a 350 oldsmobile transmission but my crossmember is not long enough. what can i do?
- Sounds like you installed a Long tail shaft transmission in your car. Most likely out of a bigger car or wagon. After removing a short tail shaft trans. We need to know if you pulled out a Manual transmisson or a Turbo 400 or TH350 . Most likely you need a A body only transnission to replace yours. Take it back, if its a used one, its the wrong one, Pontiac, Olds or Buick will work but needs to be Short tail shaft. Or You need to have the tail shaft replaced with one like on your old transmission. Might can have your swapped over? Tail shaft is the last part of the transmission housing. Modifying your crossmember and having a new driveshaft made not smart just incase the transmission might not be very good or last more than a year.
- Q: i have a 1995 nissan pathfinder with a 4 speed transmission and i need to clean the modulator valve and it says its on the valve body but can anyone tell me where exactly that is and maybe where i can find the modulator valve
- It's inside the transmission. If you don't know what you're doing, then don't mess with it or you'll end up worse than you are now. Hire a professional mechanic to do the work.
- Q: I have a 2004 Ford Taurus and the transmission started slipping recently. Then 3 days ago the Check Transmission light started coming on! Any ideas what it could be and how much its gonna cost its a V6 and other then that in great condition. My husband want to trade it in but i only owe a couple more payments on it. is it worth keeping or should i trade it while its still running???
- Make sure you check the fluid while the engine is warm and running. Next I would suggest you use a product from lucas oil called transmission fix. It really helps with transmission slipping and conditions all the seals and gears of the transmission. I had a 2000 taurus with the same problem, i used the product as was recommended by a friend, and I got about another 50,000 miles out of the transmission with no problems. If that doesnt help you are probably looking at around 1500 dollars to replace the tranny. Very good car, I would keep it for now. Hope this helps!
- Q: Today the Trailblazer was being driven at about 30 mph, it made a loud clunk, then the engine revved really high. Obviously the transmission slipped out of gear. It then would not go forward in Drive, or 3rd. It will move, however in Reverse, 1st, or 2nd. Any ideas what part in the trans would cause this? Just a note, this will be the 4th transmission in this thing in 110,000 miles. It does nothing put pull 2 four wheelers maybe 3 times a year, and just city or highway driving. Not abused, not driven hard, its my mom‘s vehicle. Any help?
- The transmission has failed internally. I would suggest after going through 4 transmissions to get rid of the vehicle. Its obviously not worth repairing since it has gone through now 4 tranny's. I had an 89 Mazda B2600i with over 219,000 miles on it with the original transmission and it still ran and drove strong when I sold it, and I took it 4 Wheeling all the time. So something is definitly wrong with the transmissions going into your trailblazer. I would suggest if you want to have it fixed take it to amaco transmission or cottmans, either one will do an excellent job of replacing or repairing the transmission for you and offer a warranty.
- Q: Well we have a 1989 Chevrolet astro CL van and the automatic transmission slips. When we back up its like we a chain holding us in the front and it takes a while to go backwards. When we go forwards it goes like this most of the time (1,3,2,4,1,2). no joke. Also when we go it jerks starting at about 10 mph. We have changed the transmission once before and just a few months ago we had to put a new fly wheel on because of a pressure crack then is started messing up. Is there a easy fix but we have use lucas transmission fix and it will work for like a week but then is slips again. Do you think the transmisson is bad?
- Shifting in a Transmission is controlled by a sintrifical govener in the tail shaft , it regulates pressure to the valve body, where the actual fluid is directed to your pistons and servos. Most shift problems in transmissions are caused by sticky valve.bodys. The valves have a 1 thousands of an inch clearance to move in the body bore. If the transmission over heats the valvebody being aluminum usually warps lodging the valves. From what your describing one of your O-rings on a valve or servo piston is leaking , causing the irratick flutter of shifts. You maybe able to buy a valve body and govener .
- Q: I have a C5 corvette standard 6 speed transmission. having problem shifting into first and going into second. A friend suggested changing the fluid first ( cheapest start to the problem) corvette was using DEXTER #3 in the C5 The new vettes 2005 and up now use the improved DEXTER 6 . can i use the DEXTER 6 in my model C5 its a 1998 and has never been changed but has only 45000 miles thanks in advance,
- The problem sound like the transmission Fluid and filter need changing and to be on the safety side take the vehicle to Transmission Repair Shop and ask them to change your transmission fluid and filter. the cost should $100 that way to can be safety on the correct Type of fluid for transmission.
- Q: I‘m most likely going to be buying a 66 mustang coupe, it has a 200ci 6 cylinder engine with a 3 speed transmission. I know the engine‘s good, I may or may not change it out to a v8 tho. I‘ve never had a 3 speed before, will it be alright or should I change it out to a 4 or 5 speed?
- if the engine is mounted transversely the oil will slide around on turns. put some more oil in it and you should be fine. there is the possibility one of the electrical connections is loose or there is a wiring problem. this requires inspecting all the wires going to and from the sensor and the light.
- Q: Manual transmission
- The rev limiter kicked in (that replaced into component to the reason the motor vehicle began shaking). that's rather not undemanding to get the Mazda engine to coach sufficient RPM's to do harm. I even have suddenly met the limiter various circumstances on my plenty older Miata's and the engines are nonetheless working positive.
- Q: I drive a 1997 GMC suburban has 106,600+ miles on it and this is the only vehicle i have , cant afford a new one transmission broke last tuesdaymy mechanic says to put a new one in for $2300, this other mechanic might be able to put a refurbished one for about $1000. so anyone out there who can give me some answers for this qustion would be great! The first mechanic says ne dont believe in refurbished because the break down in 2-3 months.and a lot of my friends says its ok.I have 3 children and we have a lot of activities that I drive them tooso I really need an affordalbe but reliable one.Help please!!! rental cars cost too much!
- Check the yellow pages for a local transmission repair shop that is certified by ATRA. The logo should be in the ad. If not, call. Get several estimates for the repair. It may not need replacement, since you don't say what the problem is. If a tranny is rebuilt, all of the worn parts are replaced, and it will be just as good as a new one. Many shops give a minimum 6 month warranty. ABOVE ALL, do not go to a transmission store like AAMCO or any other national chain. They grossly overcharge for parts.
