- I believe you mean you have a 3.8 engine. If you are referring to an automatic transmission, then 1998 Mustang 3.8 4R70W is the only one that fits according to the interchange all the salvage yards use. A competent transmission shop could probably swap the electrical parts to make a different year transmission work for you but there's no hard information out there that I know like you can change this and that to make it work. If by chance your car instead has a five speed manual, a T5 transmission from any 1994-98 Mustang 3.8 will swap right in.
- Q: I have a 2005 Nssan Maxima. Im the 2nd owner, got the car Feb 2010. Apparently at 30 and 60,000 miles, a transmission tune-up is needed. At 30,000 I didnt own the car, so I didnt know it never got that. At 60,000 which was 6,000 miles ago, I went to get it tuned-up because it was starting to jerk. The tune-up helped but not much, at that point. I dont know much about cars but I know how the transmission works. It jerks entering 3rd gear, and 4th gear. Does it need to be rebuilt? If so, am I looking at a lot of money? BTW its an automatic car.should have stuck with manual!
- Melodizzle, I don't think it is time to panic just yet. After reviewing a couple of things here, I feel comfortable that your transmission is not damaged. I looked up the service information for the 2005 Maxima and found that the transmission uses a synthetic transmission fluid. As such, I couldn't find anywhere that an automatic transmission service or tune up is required by Nissan at 30,000 miles or 60,000 miles. In fact, I couldn't find where a fluid change would be needed unless repairs are performed on the transmission. I am not sure who told you a transmission tune up is needed every 30,000 miles. The CVT transmission used by Nissan is a very sturdy and reliable transmission and should provide you with years of trouble free service. Unlike older transmissions, most of the controls are handled by electric solenoids and sensors. It is very likely you have a sensor or solenoid starting to act a little goofy. I strongly encourage you to take the car to a Nissan dealer and tell them everything you have shared on here. Let them perform their own evaluation of the transmission. They have the correct tools to diagnose it properly. If you take it to a transmission shop, I can bet you what their diagnosis would be. You have a very nice car. I think you will be happy with it.

- Reducers will work fine. Also, heating and drawing the pipe lengthwise will create a gradual taper to a smaller opening.

- Transmission are cooled by the radiator on automatics. If they did not tighten the hoses or cracked one then yes. related for sure. If it is a manual teany no. Take it back!

- If the PCM is similar and the transmissions are the same it should definitely work. Make sure they are both 4L80E transmissions. If they didn't change anything on them it should fit like a glove. Look at both Transmission and compare them as well. Usually the 4L80E has a heavier tail housing shaft then the 4L60E. Another thing to know that Gear Ratios can be different and can cause Transmission shift issues with the wrong PCM.
- Q: I have a Honda Accord 1997 Ex Manual transmission. My model has the Vtec in it. My transmission has a crack or hole in the bell housing thus having no choice I need another transmission. Every where i have looked i cant find the exact same transmission. I can only find from the LX model without the Vtec but my question is.Will a manual transmission from a Honda Accord 1996-97 LX fit and bolt up and work on my Honda Accord 97 Ex?
- transmission must come from the same engine. on the transmission usually on the side a white tag with either a number and letter or three letters and a number that will be the transmission i.d tag must match that number/letter combinationmy book gives a P2 model for those years that will work
