Q: My transmission fluid hose busted.engine won‘t shift forward. Is the tranny blown? OR just a hose problem? I just had the transmission fluid flushed about a week ago, is there a relation to the blown hose? Once it blew, I didn‘t drive it too far before it wouldn‘t shift into gear.
The transmission works off of fluid. Since the hose leaked out fluid, this is probably why your car won't go anymore. Once you replace the hose and put more fluid in it it should be fine. Continuing to drive without fluid in a transmission can potentially damage it. There's not way to tell how much damage you did to yours.you'll just have to put a hose on it and fluid in it and hope for the best. Yes, there is a strong likelihood that this problem is related to your recent transmission flush. Most flushes are accomplished by removing the transmission cooler lines and hooking them up to a machine that flushes the old fluid out and the new fluid in. It sounds as if the technician may have failed to tighten the hose back up or damaged the hose during the flushing process.
Q: Hey need some help with this. I have over 100,000 miles on my dodge RAM and debating on getting the transmission flushed. What exactley does the flush do and how does it work?
DEALERSHIP ONLY!!!! All transmissiosn require fluid changes at 100,000 miles. Your CHRYSLER delaership will have the UPDATED filters and gaskets, and more importantly the CORRECT fluid for your truck. They often run SPECIALS on this service. Don't trust a flush and fill from other sources. Usually, their equipment is contaminated with other products and fluids. Your torque converter holds several quarts of old, trashy fluid. Some European trans missions and really old American transmissions have converter drain plugs. Other than that, you should have your system TOTALLY flushed and filled with CHRYSLER trans fluid. THere are NO universal trans fluids anymore! ALL have special additives for special purposes!
Q: I am confused on the CVT transmission that Mitsubishi has on its Lancers, is a CVT transmission basically a automatic transmission?
Nice try but that's a million year deal whereas global warming has happened in less than a hundred years.
Q: why is there a puddle of transmission fluid under my car the day after i get my rack inpinion fixed??? i had no problem with it the year befor??? can any one help???
They had to disconnect the transmission cooling lines to the radiator to get to the steering gear and didn't get them back on right.
Q: If i have two of the same cars, one needs a new engine and one needs a new transmission,is it easier/cheaper to put the good engine in he other car or the good transmission in the othercar?thanks!
The FACTORY one, of course.
Q: is there transmission filters in a 1996 ford explorer? i was told by a transmission specialist that there isn‘t
Manual transmission:no filter. Automatic transmission:there is a filter, but it's really just a screen designed to catch large pieces of metal. If the transmission shop is reputable, trust them.
Q: What are the motorcycle drive systems?
Motorcycle transmission system includes clutch, variable speed gear, gear shaft, transmission chain (transmission belt, drive shaft), sprocket and so on.
Q: TRANSMISSIONS FOR CARS
That is to make sure that the starter only operates when an automatic transmission is in park or neutral. Or USA cars with manual transmissions also have a switch to make sure that the clutch is pushed in and not engaged while starting the engine. Basically it is to make sure that the vehicle does not start moving due to starting the engine.
Q: Is it any good? I heard that Volkswagen makes poor auto-transmissions. Hence why most Jettas are 5-speeds.
The automatic transmissions have had a fair reliability record; the oldest ones like the ones used in the air cooled models were by far the most trouble prone, however, having said that, it is true that the automatic transmissions until recently have been below average in reliability (in my opinion anyway). The worst of the bunch was the French designed four speed overdrive automatic transmission used during the early to mid nineties, it had a seperate filter outside of the automatic transmission and was prone to jerky shifts and slippage way too often. Part of the issue was that people didn't change the fluid and filter often enough, but even so, it wasn't a very transmission. The next generation, designed I believe by ZF, was much better and was in use until the new generation that just out. Far more reliable, smoother shifting and (late models anyway,) not prone to bump stop shifting. Most of the issues of delayed engagement, hard shifts have been delt with thru software updates and improvements in the box. Still, its probably not as good as the Asian/Warner automatic transmissions now used by many Japanese/American and some european makes, such as Volvo. The latest generation of automatic transmissions are based upon (supposedly anyway) of Asian/Warner design. If its true, then this generation of automatic transmission should be trouble free for the most part. Time will be the judge on these new generation automatic transmissions in the current models(Jetta/Rabbit (Golf)/Beetle). Hope this helps, a car nut.
Q: Hello. I have a 1996 subaru legacy all wheel drive 4 door sedan. Lately my transmission has been shifting hard and slipping every once in a while. I talked to a friend about possibly putting some lucas transmission slip in it and he said not to do that, and to try getting my transmission fluid changed instead. My question is, if I go to a shop what exactly should I ask them to do? Any suggestions? Should I try anything more than a transmission fluid change?
