- Q: it is an automatic transmission. How do i check fluid level?
- transmission oil hot, depending on year model, 02 up has to be checked from underneath, unless engine is an 8 cylinder, older models by dipstick on passenger side fire wall
- Q: My mom has an 1989 R1500 Suburban that was her first vehicle and has driven many a mile in it, the odometer recently hit 250,000 (rolled twice) and the transmission has about had it. It has the 350 in it and a 4 speed auto. However, I‘m not sure if its the factory transmission. I can‘t read the data plate at all. I‘m going to replace it for her and I want to know where the best place to get a rebuilt trans for it that is the factory box.
- Just go to a auto wreckers or junk yards for cars all you need to know is what type of engine you have and if it's long or short base it makes a differences and buy one there they give you a 30 day warranty on it it's cheaper then buying used cause they cost about the same as a new one they run $1500 to $200 thousand junk yard most $400 500 it's all where you live. that's what i did when i replace my trans on my 69 camaro. payed 300 for trans and no problem so far it's been 2yrs snice i bought it Good luck
- Q: Transmission recently blew out on one of my cars. it is a 2004 Dodge Neon ST- 4 cylinder. The mechanic I usually take my cars too is quoting me a price of near $1,800 to just rebuild the Tranning and for labor. Seems a bit way too high for me! What do you think?
- take your car to a transmission specific shop. not just any mechanic. their prices are usually lower. Alsoyou could probably find a junk yard tranny for less to replace it with. but theres a chance it will be bad. go to a cottman's transmission shop or a local shop specific for transmission repair. and that price could change once they get inside the transmission. could be big problems or small problems. where ever you take it, make sure they call you before they do anything once they get the trans out of the car. don't get ripped off. bring a friend that knows a little about cars to talk to them for you.
- Q: For a 2001 honda civic, is $60 a good price for a transmission oil change? the service people claim it's so high because synthetic oil must be used as my car is now at the 134,000 mile mark.
- I have had these installed in some of my construction projects. Most brands can be installed with interior air or outside air for combustion make up air. Theoretically the use of outside air is more energy efficient in that the negative pressure created by the combustion process causes air infiltration from leaky areas like windows and doors. As far as affecting your warranty I would read the installation manual and make certain you are not voiding it. The week point for these furnaces are the circuit boards that act up and the condensation tubing. If the drain line clogs or freezes your furnace will not open the gas valve and then you will not have heat.
- Q: I have a 92 f250 with a 5 speed. I parked it in a garage to take the spare tire down and when I backed it out noticed an area or red liquid near where the front of the vehicle was. Now I know that auto transmission fluid is red, and I thought manual transmission fluid was suppose to be black and thick like motor oil. Is this tranny fluid or some other liquid my truck could be leaking?
- Your trucks transmission more and likely takes ATF, or Mercron 3. Is Automatic transmission fluid as you might have suspected. Best way to know for sure, is to ask the parts store where you'd be getting the fluid from. They should be able to help you best in that situation. Hope you can narrow down your leak.
- Q: Does anyone else put there automatic transmission in neutral at red lights. A recent thing I have been doing and was wondering how weird it is.
- That is the price for all cars.
- Q: How can I check the transmission fluid in my 2000 audi a6 2.7t? How would I know how much to add? What‘s the best way to fill it?
- You don't. It's permanently lubricated. The only way to do this is get it raised, and undo the drain plug. How are you so certain that it needs any?
- Q: how often or how many miles is recommended to make service and transmission oil change to a nissan altima 2007 tanks
- 2007 and newer Altimas have CVT (continuously variable auto trans) transmissions and the fluid does not need regular change intervals. Calibration data available to the Nissan Mechanic using a Consult 2 or 3 device tells the technician how the fluid is doing. Generally the fluid shoud last a car lifetime. High loads high heat only stop and go will reduse the oil life and that data is stored in the transmission control module.
- Q: 04 quad cab v8 4.7 automatic transmission 545rfe. My trans temp light comes on sometimes I don‘t do heavy towing and I DO NOT ABUSE OR NEGLECT my truck. Took it to the dealer and they said it‘s the transmission solenoid pack. But how do I know if they are being honest about it? What if it just needs new filters and trans oil? I lack knowledge on transmission diagnosis but I can drop the pan and change the oil and both filters my self. By the way the oil level is fine it‘s dark red and doesn‘t smell burned. I don‘t know if the trans has been serviced on time or ever but it has 162,xxx miles on it now. If I change the fluid and stuff will the transmission be screwed after doing so.
- P0713 Transmission Temperature Sensor High Voltage - With Automatic Transmission Possible CausesSetting Conditions * TTS connector is damaged (check pins for damage, and corrosion) * TTS signal circuit is open or shorted to voltage * TTS low reference circuit is open * TTS has failed * PCM has failed Engine running; and the PCM detected that the TTS signal was more than 4.94v for 0.450 seconds. The Transmission Temperature Sensor (TTS) is a variable resistor that changes with temperature, or otherwise known as a thermister. The temperature of the transmission fluid can affect a variety of electronically controlled transmission operations such as shift quality, torque converter lock-up, and when and/or if certain OBDII or system self-diagnostic tests are performed. This code sets in 1 Trip(s). This code will turn on the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp)
- Q: My 99 plymouth grand voyager makes static noise but when put in neutral the noise stops, the transmission was rebuilt 30,000 miles ago what could the noise be?
- Please no name calling. And I don't want to hear who started it. The noise could be caused by low level of transmission fluid or the wrong type of transmission fluid was used and it is just now noticeable. Not all fluids are created equally.
