- Q:when a car has a transmission with overdrive: what is overdrive and when should it be used?
- overdrive is an extra gear. Automatic only. It should be off, in normal driving but say your going over 40 mph. You should keep it on, it drops rpms, because its a higher gear. So you get better mileage, more speed
- Q:Introduction of Heavy Duty Car Drive System Gear
- Second, the type of reducer General reducer with helical gear reducer (including parallel shaft helical gear reducer, worm reducer, bevel gear reducer, etc.), planetary gear reducer, cycloid reducer, worm Reducer, planetary friction type mechanical CVT and so on
- Q:I am trying to see if I need to fill up the transmission fluid that is located under the hood, except I am unable to find it‘s locationa little help please?!
- You may have to go to a dealership to have the fluid checked. Not too many years ago Chrysler stopped installing ATF dipsticks due to owners adding the incorrect fluid and/or amounts to their transmissions. Not sure what year that occurred but it has been within the last three to five years I think. Usually the dipstick/filler tube is found on the right side of the transmission very near the firewall.
- Q:I just recently purchased a 2005 Ford Focus in January and it has 58k on it. The only thing I am worried about is the transmission. Should I get it flushed if it has not been done before? Can you get a transmission maintenance done on a stick-shift? Since it is almost 60k miles on the car, its it a risk at the transmission not working anymore?
- No flush, just drain and refill.
- Q:I paid the local Acura dealership to change my transmission fluid at 60K, however, I have had a couple of oil change franchises state that I still need to have this done. That showed me the fluid on the dipstick placed on a white towelette. It appeared to be a rusty brown with a hint of purple. I know that most automatic transmission fluids are pink to magenta in color. Did they just park my car in the rear and call me later in the day? How can I know if they have actually did the work that I paid for? I now have 68K on the Acura TL.

- Q:I brought my car from a deal with 31000 miles in November 2007 on it and now the dealer is telling me I need a transmission flush, which cost $300. I am still under warranty with this dealership. Also my fluid is a black color. Is this a fluid or just an ordinary transmission fluid change? Also does anyone know a good mechanic place where I can get a quality job done if I need a transmission flush. I am in NYC.my car now has 43535 milesThanks a lot
- by no skill do a transmission flush. It loosens the gunk interior the backside of the transmission and after the replenish that stuff will reason all varieties of problems. That first guy would not be attentive to what he's speaking approximately. Do the drop the pan, exchange the clear out, close each thing up with a sparkling pan gasket after which fill w/ sparkling fluid.
- Q:I have a 98 Honda civic ex(si clone) running on a b18c1(98 gsr). Recently my third gear messed up. It started with just grinding like once a day then it would get worse and worse to the point where it just grinds all the time and the gear just won‘t go in period. The previous owner told me that he installed a new clutch because third would grind all the time and once he installed the new clutch the problem was fixed but after I bought it like 6 months with the new clutch it started grinding again(I‘m pretty sure a new clutch would last way longer). I wanna buy a gsr tranny but I‘m worried ill get ripped off or something cause idk much about transmissions. My other option is to just fix the problem. I don‘t wanna buy a new clutch cause the problem will just come back again. So my question is: should I look for a gsr tranny(I race alot) or keep it and try to fix the transmission it has already(civic tranny)? Also what could be the reason why it grinds?
- Gsr tranny (y80) is no good for racing unless you are are going turbo. About the grinding problem, you can rebuild the transmission. If you want a good transmission for racing, get a b16a sir transmission (s4c) or an Integra type r transmission (itr s80) or you could get the civic type r transmission (ctr s4c). The type r transmissions are stronger, are geared better and they come with a strong LSD and you will feel the car move a whole lot faster. The grinding problem is common among b series transmissions.
- Q:I presently own a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5S with an automatic transmission. I have been looking at the 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5 SR; however, I am concerned that the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) may not yet be ‘proven.‘
- If your really worried buy a Altima with a 6 speed manual. Unlike Honda And Toyota You still can get a Nissan stick shift car. CVT comes with a 120,000 mile warranty on the transmission. Also that design has been around on Muranos from 2003. I personally like to shift for my self CVT is just as reliable as a regular clutch pack transmission. And is better keeping the revolutions of the motor optimum to the speed of the car
- Q:want to change transmission fluid but cant find where to fill it
- cc is the size of the engine. and bhp is how much horse power the engine has at the crank shaft
- Q:iv got a bronco and i want to buy a more performance or quicker transmission. The bronco and the Mustang have the exact same engine, but i dont know about the transmission being the same.if they are differnt, HOW!!!or is it better to go through my transmission and get new gears and a new set upMine is an auto. the mustang is a 5 speedDONT say any thing about prices please. iv got both of them alredy priced, i just dont know anything about transmissions.
- I believe the Bronco utilizes the E4OD unit, which, is very different from car sourced units. It's built for truck torque and reliability, not performance or economy. Anything more, my expertise is limited.
