Q: want to change transmission fluid but cant find where to fill it
cc stands for cubic centimeters and is a way to measure the displacement of an engine, bhp stands for brake horsepower and is the power avaliable at the output shaft, before transmissions, gearboxes, etc are added.
Q: I dropped the transmission pan drained fluid on my 93 with 3.3 motor and four speed automatic. How do you remove the filter and the fluid in the converter?
I would expect that the filter is held in place with a retaining bolt or bolts. Look for the location of bolt hole(s) on the new filter. Or consult a service and repair manual for the make and model of your vehicle. While you are looking at the manual check for a procedure to change the fluid in the torque converter. That procedure may require the services of a transmission or automobile service shop.
Q: I have a 03 Chevy impala and when I push the gas to take off, it drags for a long time then it jumps really hard and starts driving. I checked my transmission fluid and its fine. I know it‘s hard to tell unless you actually check it out but could anyone tell me what this might be?
you can look on the side of the tire it is usually black and hard to see and it will be in () . you have to look very carefully.
Q: After the automatic transmission is rebuilt, should I continue use OEM transmission fluid?
That would be the ideal thing to do, since normally when transmissions are rebuilt, machining is rarely performed. Mainly the internal clutch packs, filters, and broken or worn parts are replaced.
Q: Some cars have Automatic Overdrive Transmission, What does that even mean? It mean Automatic transmission or manual transmission? 1999 Lexus es300 have automatic overdrive. I check on kelly blue book, and I am not sure what is it.
not really familiar with mustangs, im pretty sure they are rear wheel drive right? how did you bend the rear axle, or is it like all wheel drive???
Q: what is manual transmission w/OD?
its a manual transmission with an overdrive gear. basically, instead of the final gear being 1:1, its got a further gear (usually 5th and/or 6th) that will be reduced further to help with gas mileage on the highway. normally .63:1 is a common ratio. manuals AND autos can have overdrive. early OD manual transmissions will have either a D as the last gear on the knob or will have the last gear circled to signify OD.
Q: Okay, so i flipped my 1996 Jeep Cherokee in a ditch. I‘m looking for a new vehicle and have found a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee at a low price because the transmission is blown. IF the transmission in my ‘96 still works, could I put it in the ‘97?
you're good as long as same engines. two different trans used between the 4.0 (A500) and the bigger engine in the grand cherokee some of which are the (A518)
Q: What are everyones opinions on a transmission fluid and filter change? I think my last one caused my tranny to go and i‘m getting another transmission and I am wondering wether I should change the fluid in that or not. Just what is your opinion on them?
Any car or truck which has an unsealed transmission should be drained and filter changed no later then 100,000 miles. Filters and transmission fluid is inexpensive compared to a transmission failure. I can't imagine who told you what your heard about slippage with fresh fluid a a clean filter cause it just ain't' so. Call any Buick, Pontiac or Chevrolet dealer and ask what GM's recommended transmission fluid and filter change interval should be.
Q: I bought a Toyota camry 2011 and I changed the Transmission fluid and the filter . Before changing , the fluid was dark and has a burn smell , after changing for 2 days the fluid came back dark and has a burnt smell . I dont know why !! someone told me that the clutch is died but I do not face any problems with the transmission .
The black transmission fluid is an indication that at some point you may have overheated the transmission's internal clutches. The reason it was clear immediately after the change was because the new fluid had not mixed with the residual left in the torque convertor and lines. If it is operating properly now, I wouldn't worry about it. You might want to have it power flushed next time you change the fluid. Good Luck
Q: A mechanic said he found plastic pieces inside my transmission cooling lines 2 my radiator?? what does this mean?? Also my transmission is have hard shift he said, and it might fail me in the future. and something about some part on the transmission is out of its bush and is moving ????? How much do u think it would cost 2 get a transmission servied on a 94 Z28 Chevy Camaro??
I agree with wzzrd. If you have that much particulate in the lines, a flush could leave you stuck at the shop that does it. I have it had it happen to a customer before. The flush is great and neccesary as maintenance, but it is not a repair.
