Q: I have been working on my 60k service, almost all done, just one more thing left.changing out the transmission fluid. It‘s a manual transmission.2004 V6 Ford Mustang. When I looked under.it APPEARS, there is no cover on the drain plug. Is this even possible? How long can a car go without transmission fluid?I have driven the car for 60,000 miles without any mechanical problems. I‘m thinking I might have just found the wrong plugs.
If the drain plug is not installed there will be no fluid and the transmission will grind to a halt in a very few miles. The drain plug on most manual transmissions is either a square head or Allen screw type plug located on the bottom of the transmission. There will also be a fill and level check plug about halfway up on the side of the transmission which may be square head or Allen head or it may be a rubber plug.
Q: I have a 1999 Chrysler Sebring JX Convertible. While driving it one day on the highway, the gas pedal all of a sudden became unresponsive. Now, no matter what its in (Park, Neutral, Drive) it all acts as if its in neutral. The engine revs, but the car goes nowhere. This is a sudden thing, and there were never other signs of transmission going up. Also, it makes a grinding noise when started. It works sometimes but you only get a couple feet before it becomes unresponsive again. It also shakes and jumps when sitting idle. I know very little about the mechanics of a car but my dad says it could be the transmission or torque converter. But transmissions usually go up over time, not all at once. Please help and give me some input about what you think is wrong with it. And how much would you say it would be to fix it (rough estimation). Any input is appreciated.
transmissions can go over time or just like that with no warning but the transmission is gone from what you say so start calling around for prices depending what they have to put in it for parts and so forth it can go anywhere from 13-1800 dollars rebuilt or look for used
Q: My Transmission seems to slip a bit when it goes to 3rd gear. What could this be? It is a 2001 civic with only 63000 miles on it. It only happens for a second, but then when it goes to 3rd gear the engine will race and the RPM‘s shoot up about 500 to 700 more and then shifts. The rest of the gears seem to be fine.
Buy four new bridgestones. You'll be happy with them.
Q: does a honda accord have a transmission oil pan . with a filter to change
The automatics do the manuals don't, make sure you check the owners manual for the correct type of transmission fluid.
Q: Alright, so I have a 1988 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 v8 4x4. I was driving it the other day and noticed that it started to rev up more than usual when I was driving on the highway. The day after, the truck would go up to 30 m.p.h., and wouldn't go any faster but it would continue to rev up. I replaced the transmission fluid and it did nothing to help. What could the problem be!?
Transmission is most likely shot. 700r4 is notorious for doing that, it happened to me in '88 Chevy pickup
Q: i have a 1994 mazda 626 with a automatic transmission. it developed a problem over the corse of a day and worsend significantly by the end of the day. the car drives fine until trying to switch into 3rd gear. when driving regularly, slowly excellerating the car will switch out of second gear, but will not catch another gear, the revs will rise to about 6000 rpm and then the car will catch 3rd and jerk forward, it does the same thing switching to 4th. this makes driving the car impossible above 20mph.i took it to the shop and they stuck some hose in the engine and said they filled the transmission fluid. but the problem stayed. please help, if its more than a 100 doller fix im prob gonna scrape the car.but they want 50 to diagnos and they dont even have a idea what it could be. so i dont have much faith
this is coming from a 28 year old guy. DO not mention about ADD, THat's useless, TOn's of people have it, I've been told myself. if i were you i'd just be like well they said i made a mistake on a one letter, weekly report. Say something like there were some difficulties with my understanding of what needed to be done on that day. Keep in mind, Most former employers will NOT get into details about anothers work history, simply due to lawsuits, All that most of them will say is. we would opt not to rehire this person I would be surprised if they actually were to tell them if they were to call them that you were tardy and screwd up on reports, THat would surprise me.
Q: I have a 92 f250 with a 5 speed. I parked it in a garage to take the spare tire down and when I backed it out noticed an area or red liquid near where the front of the vehicle was. Now I know that auto transmission fluid is red, and I thought manual transmission fluid was suppose to be black and thick like motor oil. Is this tranny fluid or some other liquid my truck could be leaking?
Yes, you can iron a tie. I used to work at a dry cleaners, technically it was called pressing, but it was basically ironing.
Q: I have a v6 firebird 1999 4l60e, got code p1870 for god knows how long (car dealer cleared check engine light before I bought it). Anyway it slips, has shuttle shifts, grinds between gears sometimes.I already know the transmission is dead, but don‘t know if a used transmission gets rusty (gears, solenoids, etc) overtime?Because there‘s a a rating transmission 12,000 miles but 1999Scared of rusty gears, clutches then its a wasteDoes rust happen in old transmissions with fluid or no?
Eventually, anything that had oil or fluid coating it disipates then moisture settles in. Once moistures settles, things rust. Moisture is in everything, I suggest if you like wasting your time changing transmissions for the heck of it, then sure. go ahead use it
Q: How are all these transmissions going out? People with cars in the 1997-2000s. What are they doing wrong? Not depressing brake pedal all the way? How do you make sure a car you buy has a good transmission
Make sure the transmission is clean and its should look kind a reddish the transmission oil. Drive the car or truck around and make sure the transmission its change gear from start to high speed. You can feel the tranny change gear when you go slow or fast.If don't change gear means the tranny is no good; by the way i am talking about automatic transmission.
Q: i have a 2000 honda crv with a transmission code p0740 indicates faulty lock up control systemtech said it either could be the lock up solenoid or internal transmission problem .here is what happen when starting the car and still cold for the past week trying to engage the car dosn‘t wonna move then it goes ok yesterday while going up the hill the car decided that it dosn‘t wonna go over 20 mph so i took it to the mecanic and they pulled out the code p0740 and they said it could be the lock up solenoid or transmission problem the truck have 121000 miles on it so any sugestion on what to do cause i never had a slipping in transmission or anything like that so please help
