Q: When the automatic transmission Downshifts from a higher gear to a lower gear, (as I‘m applying the brakes to come to a stop sign etc.) I can hear a Clunking Sound that sounds like it‘s coming from the rear end, and feel a slight jerk. My Frontier has 72,000 miles on it. Does it sound like transmission trouble? Q: The car has 112000 miles on it. The transmission seems to shake a lot at idle. It also seems to shift roughly when not accelerating at a good rate. Any suggestions?: Since the engine and transmission are solidly bolted together the roughness could be an engine miss. If you know how, check the spark system to see if it is electrical, or the injectors to see if one of them is bad. I have a 96 with 164,000+ and road test reports I read written when the car was new, complained about the firm shifting of the transmission. The recommended fluid change interval is 45.000 mi. for first and 30,000 for subsequent. There is no filter that is accessible to the shadetree mechanic. only a drain plug on the rear or the transaxle assembly. Q: My 2001 F250 Transmission started overflowing when I tow my 30‘ Travel Trailer. I have been towing it for years and no problem until now. I have always towed it in overdrive. Have you or someone else ever carelessly changed the fluid? is it overfilled, and when the tranny gets warm enough, or hot enough when you tow the fluid expands and overflows? thats where i would start. Q: Some cars have Automatic Overdrive Transmission, What does that even mean? It mean Automatic transmission or manual transmission? 1999 Lexus es300 have automatic overdrive. I check on kelly blue book, and I am not sure what is it.: its called 4 speed + overdrive basically because its an Auto, if it was a stick shift then ya it would be called a 5 speed, because in a manual transmission in a 5 speed the 5th gear is overdrive gear and in a 6 speed the 6th gear is overdrive, also in an auto transmission it doesn't need the Overdrive to function properly so it doesn't need it, overdrive is just for highway and interstate driving so don't have it in Overdrive for normal everyday driving unless you go on the highway or interstate an Auto isn't going to have an Overdrive gear unless it says its Overdrive with the O with the D in it, if a 5 speed Automatic doesn't have the O with the D inside it then its just a 5 speed with no Overdrive, the gear ratios of the 5 speed with no Overdrive would be closer to each other

Q: i have an auto transmission car. but for some reason when your at a stop and begin to go. the car seems to be very slugglish. it doesnt pick up at all until it switched to 2nd gear. is there something wrong with my transmission? or what might cause it to be so slow and slugglish when starting from a stop?: Not a tune up problem, indications relate to the car running smoothly after 2nd gear is initialized. Sounds to me like the bands in transmission have worn out, there is a different band for 2nd gear.

Is this tranny fluid or some other liquid my truck could be leaking?: Your trucks transmission more and likely takes ATF, or Mercron 3. Is Automatic transmission fluid as you might have suspected. Best way to know for sure, is to ask the parts store where you'd be getting the fluid from. They should be able to help you best in that situation. Hope you can narrow down your leak.

I personally like to shift for my self CVT is just as reliable as a regular clutch pack transmission. And is better keeping the revolutions of the motor optimum to the speed of the car
