Q: If the surface of the road has a coefficient of kinetic friction of .30, how far does the motorcycle skid
In reality a motorbike behaves very differently depending on so many factors. tyres and their condition, brakes, ABS and rider position (experience, reactions etc.) and once the bike bucks or turns and flips or slides on its side,,, where the rider is also makes a difference. You gave a friction figure so I have not talked about the road surface, rain, oil, loose, mud, potholes etc. Your answer should really be something like a piece of string.
Q: After my Honda VT750 1998 fell down while riding, it started making noise somewhere around the front wheel; noise like two hard pieces are scratching each other. At the beginning the noise happened only when the front brake was applied, but now it happens when riding. I also feel weak knocking on the front brake lever. The pace of the knocking becomes faster as the speed of the bike slower. The brake disc was hot after a ride in which I used the brake. What is the problem and solutions? I'd appreciate answers not like take it to a shop. Thank you.
You might, given your additional details, have twisted the forks. But even though the impact was on the other side, first check the disc by raising the front end, and spinning the front wheel and use a pencil to measure the distance from fork leg to disc.
Q: I really hate engine braking because I lose a lot of speed, and it just sounds awful and it drags so much it makes me think I'm doing something wrong..so I was wondering can it be avoided? I've heard that if you rev match u can avoid it, true false?also, when shifting down what are the correct speeds for each gear on a regular 600 sportbike? I know they'r all diff, I'm just asking what are YOUR speeds.
Just coming from a racer and street rider: Yes, matching the engine's rpm with the clutch in so when the clutch is out in the next gear lower will help reduce the drag significantly. It will smooth it out. Most people call this blipping the throttle on downshifts. Also try waiting another second or two, and let the RPM drop more. Downshifting into 5000 rpm is going to be more violent than downshifting to 2500 RPM. As for blipping the throttle on upshifts: No. On a 600 the clutch and shifting motion is so fast anyways this isn't necessary, also, clutch-less upshifting won't allow for this if you're racing or riding aggressively.
Q: Old motorcycle brakes are not good, single brake plate okay, is there any better way
Brake shaft shaft plus a little butter, clean up the brake drum pot.
Q: i have a motorcycle project due soon and i need help. so i need 2 each of different ways of a motorcycle creating heat (heat is created), using heat (how the heat is used), conserving heat(how the heat stays in), and eliminating heat(how the heat is taken out. thanks.(no rough comments please).
Heat is created by the combustion of fuel and by the brakes (friction) when stopping Engine heat (the burning of fuel) is used to create expanding gases in a cylinder forcing a piston down to create power. Thats a rough start. don't take answers from this guy though. He just learned about motorcycle heat by actually touching the engine burning his hand. silly move.
Q: They work when I have the headlights on and If I gently squeeze the front lever but they go if I push it any further. They won't work at all with the back lever. This has also stopped my electric start working except if I use it when I gently squeeze the front lever. I have a 2007 Kymco miler 125 if it helps.
For the rear brake it sounds like all you have to do is adjust the switch on the backside of the footrest. It should have a long spring attached to the brake lever and the switch.Adjust the switch by turning the nut on top of the bracket-all you want is the spring to be straight, not tight-it will then activate the brake light when you step on it..The front sounds like a faulty switch.
Q: I have a honda ex5, every time I press the leg brake there is a clicking sound coming from the leg area
Drum brake? the shoes are worn.
Q: Yesterday just home, today ready to ride a motorcycle, the Grand Day card. Who knows but can not move, only in four or five centimeters move, I read, the rear wheel will not move, everything else normal. I would like to ask the next: is not there anything I do not know the brake system is limited, how to lift? (Note: after the brake and emergency brake normal)
Before the hydraulic brake is too tight or the total sound of the ring and not usually are inside the hydraulic brake pump into the air, then you have to do is just exhaust can solve the problem.
Q: Ok i‘m turning 15 in September and I really want to learn to ride a street bike, so when I can get a motorcycle licence, I‘ll already have some riding experience. I wanted a 125cc but apperently they are only available in every other country but ours. So i want to start with a 250 Ninja and use it till I graduate. But I feel like that‘s still to big for me.Is there any good beginner bikes I can get under 250cc that are street legal?? Oh and no automatic please, gotta get used to clutch if im gonna be riding a Ninja!
The engine size is not the problem with the Ninja 250. You really don't want to start on a sport bike, as they are a bit touchy at the throttle (as you'd expect), which makes it tough to build good riding habits quickly. Look for a 250-500 cc bike, preferably in a standard style (the old Honda Nighthawks were a perfect example of this style). If this isn't easily available, the next best choice would be either a street-legal dirt bike or a cruiser style. These bikes would all be fairly easy to learn on, and will let you build on the habits you'll learn in your motorcycle course. I know you're probably not planning to take a course, but do it. 87% of motorcycle accidents in the US (and I assume similar statistics would apply elsewhere) involve motorcyclists with no formal training and less than 6 months of experience on their current motorcycle. You should be able to find a one-weekend class that will give you some good basics to build on, and help make sure you know the proper way to brake, steer, and swerve (there's more to each of these than most of us know before training).
Q: i recently boughta car and i was told it need a brake booster
I use to have this same problem when i didn't eat meat, and that's where a lot of your iron comes from, (it comes from other things like some veggies but meat is thee main source) and it is bad to have low iron levels, it slows down your energy and all that good stuff, so just eat meat or some veggies like spinach and broccoli hope i helped :)
