Q:How long should it take a mechanic to replace a water pump on a 96 dodge intrepid ES with a 3.5L engine? I was given a estimate of 6 hours does it really take that long? at 100.00 a hour I'm not sure my car is worth fixing
it does take some time... 4hr max... $100 a hr is a rip... call around someone will do it for under $400
Q:i took off the lower unit to fix the gears. im not sure ill be able to put it back on with out knowing how things work in there.so how exactly does the water get pumped. and what does it have to do with the gears, because even though the prop wasn't turning, the water was still pumping.thanks.
did you put the dot of adhesive on the Keyway to hold it from slipping out of place ? Are the pump plates worn around the impeller ? If you just replaced the Impeller and NOT the whole housing, and plates, that is NO GOOD, you must replace the whole unit.
Q:how can i choose a water pump that is truely on demand as in shuts off when not needed automaticly i purchaced one that claimed it was a quot;demandpump is mine defective or not a true on demand pump?
RV section is probably under cars and transportation, others. On demand pumps are quite common and used in many RV's.
Q:my basement flooded and the water came in contact with the wiring on my water pump. Now the pump tries to turn on but shuts off without pumping any water. How do i get my pump pumping water again?
sounds like not only did it come in contact withe wiring but also with the pump, when your working with electricity you need to be very careful and have the right tools to do the job with. to start this job you need a multi testing meter, this will let you check things like amp, volts, ohms, you know things that comes in contact with the pump and wiring, you didn't say what the voltage is on this pump,so first i'd find out what that is and make sure you have that going to the pump, then if so make sure the pump isn't froze or locked up,next go to the breaker box and locate the breaker for the pump, and test to see how many amps the pump is pulling when turned on.then find out if there is anything restricting the pump from doing its job,it may be something as simple as a run capacitor or even a shorted or burnt wire, but first make sure you have the correct voltage and amperage going to and coming out of the motor, once you get that taken care of you may need to prime the pump in order to get it pumping again
Q:I live in a house that uses a pump to push water from a tank to the bathroom and kitchen. It has a sensor that detects if water is flowing and pushes it much harder. Recently, it has been pushing the water for a second or less then it completely stops for a while. It's like a pulse of water then nothing. Can anyone give me feedback on what is wrong here? Thank you.
from okorder :Self-priming pump working principle is: the pump before you start in the pump shell filled with water (or) from the water in the pump housing.Start after high-speed rotating impeller flow to the vortex in the impeller, shell, then the entry form the vacuum, the inlet non-return door open, within the air into the pump suction tube and the impeller, to arrive at the outer edge.Self-priming pump is a self-priming centrifugal pump, it has compact structure, convenient operation, stable operation, easy maintenance, high efficiency, long service life, and have strong self-priming capacity, etc.Line does not need to install the bottom valve, only to ensure storage in pump body before work are quantitative liquid.Pump after the normal starting, impeller liquid of suction chamber and inlet line of air suction, and can completely mixed within the impeller, the function of centrifugal force, and liquid with gas to the vortex flow volume outside edge, the impeller has a certain thickness is formed on the outer edge of the white foam belt and high-speed rotating liquid ring.Gas-liquid mixture into the gas-liquid separation chamber through diffusion tube.At this time, due to the flow rate suddenly drops, lighter gas is separated from the mixture of liquid and gas through the pump body spit continues to rise. After degassing of liquid to liquid storage chamber, and the reflux hole again into the impeller, and impeller with inhalation of gases from the inlet line again mix, flow under the action of the high-speed rotating impeller and the impeller outer edge....As the process cycle, decreasing the air in the suction line, until all gas absorption, complete the self-priming process, pump put into normal operation. What you said phenomenon should be pipeline leak, which leads to the self-priming pump process is repeated.
Q:I'm not too familiar with computerized cars, just wondering if the water pump going out would cause the car not to start?
No. Do you have power? Battery, alternator. Does it crank? Starter, solenoid, wiring, ignition. If all the above is ok, then what's left is air, fuel, and fire. You need all these to have a running vehicle. Fuel system-pump, filter, pressure regolator... Air-filter, maf sensor... Fire- plugs, wires, cap/rotor...
Q:What are the categories of pumps?
Did you say the pump voltage is 220 or 380?
Q:We've changed the hoses, and thermostat for the radiator. It still leaks coolant but we can't find out where it's leaking from.
Most likely your water pump is bad and leaking out of the weep hole on the pump, a water pump has a hole in it so when it goes bad water will start to leak water out of it.,The water pump is going to be on one end of the engine behind the timing belt cover , you wont be able to see it without pulling the cover. On most of these small cars the timing belt runs around the water pump.
Q:A Pump is direct driven by a 25 HP 900 rpm electric motor at rated load. In order to to double the quanitity of water delivered, it would be necessary to substitute a motor rated at____HP at____rpm. ans. 200 and 1800. not sure how they came up with this answer...whats the equation???
N = (95 H.C)/D Where N = rev/min D = diameter of impeller over blade tips in metres H = total head in metres C = constant. C depends on the shape of the pump and normally lies between 1.05 and 1.2 Later edit. I'm not sure if you are aware of it but each impeller has it's own characteristic performance curve.
Q:I would like to use water from the lake to water my lawn. My lawn is about 100 feet up hill from lake. Just want something I can attach a garden hose to. what type of pump and horsepower do I need.
With 100ft of rise your probably going to want a deep well pump. Which means 3/4 to 1hp pump. You'll need a 230V electrical supply on a 20 amp breaker possibly 115V on a 30 amp breaker. This means buried electrical. You could try a cheapo pump and just return it if it dosn't work. Try to figure out the real rise from the lake to lawn. If it's a shear drop of 100 ft, sounds like a deep well pump or similiar.
