- Q: What I am trying to explain is that I took my vehicle to be serviced for a water pump. They installed it, but when I got my vehicle back, it started making this clicking noise. I took it back to be diagnosed and they came back to me saying that I need a new engine? (Before I took in my vehicle there was no clicking sound or problems, just the water pump.)Could this be the dealer trying to pull something for their mistake or what?
- Dont know how it is possible to put a water pump on wrong...only goes on one way. if its not right it will leak to all hell. the only way this will hurt your engine is if it ran too hot. Did it overheat before you bought it in to get fixed? now, i dont know what kind of vehicle. some car's timing belts run off of the pump, and even then worse case, with an interference engine, you could bend some valves and your car wouldn't even run which would cost you to fix the head. where did they tell you the clicking sound was comming from? what year/make/model? could be plain bad luck.
- Q: looking for the comparison and then finaly the conclusion about the water pumps instaaled in the IC engines. Where we should stick to the tradional mechanical driven water pumps or electrical water pumps? which one is better!! any information/ response is appreciated
- It is not always an either or as to choice of prime mover. I have seen small town water well pumps where availability was critical. They had the pump fitted with an electric motor for normal operation and a gas engine with a clutch to use if the motor failed.
- Q: Does it take more power to pump water with a 1 /12 hp bg motor/pump than one that is a spare pump/motor running dry,not connected to the system? I am trying to figure out how long it will run with an power inverter during a power failure.
- need the model of pump then i can see how meany watts it uses and tell you how long it will run on a inverter and i also would need the battery cca or if it is a upc back up unit. and they will use a small amount more when they are moving water due to head pressure and friction in the pump and pipe. get me more info and we can figure it out.
- Q: Could this be a result of a bad water pump.
- not water pump / lol its ok
- Q: WATER PUMP, HOSES, 1998 TOWN COUNTRY
- this is just a rought est. but Parts: water pump $129, Hoses $45 Each, Coolant 2 gal $30, hose clamps $ 5. Labor: water pump 1.2 hours @$89 per labor hour = $106, Hoses .4 hours x 2 hoses = .8 @$89 = $71.20 plus a possible cooling system flush $69. So your looking at around $500 bucks.........that is probably a little high Good luck!
- Q: We lost power during the hurricane, we have well water. the power went out and we lost water also, what are the procedures to bleed and restart a goulds pumps c48a93a06 water pump?
- 1. you are going to need at least a couple gallons of water in a bucket to re-prime. 2. look for a plug at the top of the pump and remove it. 3. pour water into the plug opening, filling up the pump as much as you can. 4. put plug back in so at least one thread is grabbing. by doing this it will allow air to escape and won't be spraying water everywhere. it is also a good idea to keep your hand on the plug. 5. turn on electricity to pump. 6. when you start to notice pressure re-gaining tighten up the plug so it does not drip. It is also a good idea to have an outside tap on to get air out of the lines. Another thing is, it is a good idea to shut off water to toilets and washing machines before re-starting pump because small debris have a habit of clogging them up. When your pressure is back, drain your toilet and cold water line to your washing machine, flushing all the stuff out until you see nice clear water. Hope I helped and good luck.
- Q: I'm only 18 and don't know much about cars, but my car was overheating so me and my boyfriend brought it to a mechanic. They told me it needs a new timing belt and water pump and that alone would be like 1450.. From my research that sounds like bullshit. By the way I drive a 2000 neon, is it THAT hard to work on, or am I being ripped off?
- Your water pump is shot, it's not pumping water through out your engine to cool it off. Usually timing belt has to be taken off or loosed to get to the water pump. In that case why not replace the belt along with the water pump. Let's discuss the break down of the labor and parts. 2000 neon timing belt - $50 2000 neon water pump - $80 2000 neon timing bolt package and misc gasket seals - $20 3 hour job to replace the timing belt $50 per hour x 3 = $150 for labor. So you should actually end up paying $300 at most for the job and that's what I usually pay a Joe mechanic down the street at his back yard garage. The $1150 is the profit cut so your getting screwed. Cheer up, when I was little older than you I paid $4000 for timing belt and water pump for my NSX at the dealer.
- Q: We have a 3-story (including ground floor) house. We have 2 bathrooms. We need to invest in a water pump to deliver water from ground floor to all floors + 2 reservoir tanks (one located on first floor, and the second tank located on the second floor).Which water pump do you recommend among these:(1) Valco 261PL or Valco 261PT(2) Davey HS50-05TI'd be MOST grateful if you could kindly advice me on any reliable brand that you know (apart the ones that I mentioned). We're basically looking for a very reliable pump up to around $700 (preferably less).BTW, according to you, what's the typical horsepower we should be looking for? Will 1hp suffice??Thank you very much!
- I've never heard of those brands, but your TDH is going to be approximately 25 feet (ground to middle of the 3rd floor) plus 92' for pressure (40 psi). Ad at least 5' clearance head and that's 122' TDH. That's also 53 psi, meaning you'll want a pump that with an on-off of 40-60 psi. A centrifugal pump will do that. You'll probably want a minimum of 5-6 gpm. See if you can find a pump curve for the pumps in question and follow the vertical and horizontal lines on the chart and see if it will produce 6 gpm (or whatever volume you want) @ 60psi. Keep in mind that you can compensate for a pump that's a bit shy in volume with a larger pressure tank. Chances are most 3/4hp pumps will do what you need. If you don't have a pressure tank already or don't want to plumb a separate tank to the pump, look for a pump/tank combo. Then all you will have to do is plumb an intake and outlet line. A very good and very reliable American made pump like a Meyers should be way less than $700. The pump itself will probably be half that and a separate pressure tank approximately $175. Steer clear of Chinese made pumps. They may be ok, but finding parts like seals can be nearly impossible. Spending a couple of hundred extra dollars for an American pump will be money well spent when it's still running trouble free 10-25 years later.
- Q: Yesterday my car was making squeaky noises in the front and then the fan came on FULL FORCE it sounded lik an airplane. It then started to over heat. I looked to see if there was any antifreeze/coolant in it and it was BONE DRY. I found out the water pump is bad. My boyfriend wants to change it himself but he doesn't know if where it is located is so complex he should take it to a mechanic. He has changed water pumps before. If you know anything about this.. your advice is very much appreciated!!
- get a book on you car from autozone and he can fix it. and would give him step by step directions on what to do.
- Q: my water pump is leaking how do i change it out
- Pull your belts off and the fan, clutch assembly if there is one. Undo those eight or so bolts that hold the pump on and swap it for a new one. Drain the coolant first or you'll have a mess on your hands. You don't always have to remove the radiator but sometimes that gives you more clearance to work with.
