Q: engine is on a generator with about 800 hrs. changed fuel and fuel is getting to cylinder, pulled valve cover and valves are moving like they should, sprayed either in air intake and still no pop. any ideas other than to scrap the engine: TO; answer your question Iam need to know if by accident you filled fuel tank with gasoline / or any other liquid//

Q: have several question about diesel alternator. First of all i want build micro hydro system using diesel alternator. That means i just take the alternator and using water to rotate the turbine and the alternator will produce the power. Do you think this system is possible to do? Before this i use the car alternator, and the problem is before alternator connected to the battery i get about 3000 RPM, but when i connect the alternator to the battery and field current occur, the RPM dropped to 500 RPM. So the alternator can't produce the current. So i want try using diesel alternator. Since we know diesel alternator power output in AC, so no field current needed. If i get around 3000 RPM, whether diesel alternator produce the power? Or it same with car alternator.: all alternators produce alternating current---by definition--duh it is then rectified by (usually internally mounted) diodes you are loading your system with a partially discharged battery and the voltage that the regulator is set to is trying to charge the battery at a rate greater than the mechanical power (turbine + water) can supply thus it slows down until the demand matches the supply if you left the system until the battery voltage increases you would find that the system would turn faster until the voltages matched each other and it would be doing 3000 rpm

Q: Hi, i have a peugeot diesel conected to an 8kw alternator via a lay shaft engine 2275rpm alt 1500rpm at 2250rpm engine produces max torque 70lb ft, alt should only need 33lb ft. under heavy load engine allmost stalls. I think i need avr control? Can you help with advice and componants? Q: For 100Kw generator, what will be minimum/ maximum loadfor its safe operation.: The maximum load will be given by the exhaust temperature, regardless of the nameplate rating. There is a maximum steady state temperature, which can be exceeded for short periods, say, 10 to 20 %, given by the engine mfr. The minimum load for an engine which runs at constant speed, i.e., a power generator, is about 50%. Below that it starts to shake dangerously. . .

Q: I can visually see the electronic speed actuator moving in and out when this is happening. Should I replace the actuator or could it be something else. This is in a boat.: There are several models of the 20K Westerbeke. Can you post up which model you have? It could be as simple as an adjustment. The actuators do not generally fail. However, if you have a lot of hours, say 2000, then the actuator spring may be worn out. Please post up your model and I will see what I can do. Also you can email me.

Q: I live in southern Indiana, and am currently living through an awesome ice storm. Anyway, my parents bought a diesel powered portable generator. It is hooked into the main panel of the house. When you crank it up and turn the lights in the house on, they flicker, as does the TV screen. It has proper voltage on each leg of the 240. I brought my generator over and everything works fine. Any ideas?: You haven't told us the generator wattage. Your generator must have enough to power the house properly, or the unit they bought is defective.

Q: I would like to find out if a product exists which permits remotely using a mechanical switch to power cycle a diesel generator. Maybe one that has an IP which I could connect to or uses RF. Literally just turn on/off the power without interacting with it physically.: Should be doable, except I can see a problem - How will you know if the thing started or not ??

Q: i understand that diesel engines are used in heavy duty vehicles and gasolines are usually used in cars.why are diesel engines preferred for heavy duty? and who are some cars using diesel engine, like some VW models that use clean diesel.i know the engine works a bit different between diesel and gasoline but as for performance, why is one preferred over the other for heavy duty and regular cars?: The difference between Petrol and Diesel engines are not as big as they used to be. In the past, a Perkins diesel engine was very very slow, very very noisy, very dirty and heavy. But now there is little difference between the two. The introduction of the Turbo has been a great help. You just have to look at the BTCC last year. Jason Plato's Seat Diesel was incredible.

Propane cost more per gallon that gasoline or diesel. If you have access to natural gas it would make more sense.

Q: How would i get people to fund a bomb shelter. Of course i will guarantee them a spot for them and there closest 4 family members. I want to stock it and build. I also want to have at least enough food to live for 6 months for at least 25 people. I will also want a ton of water (not literately a ton).
