Q: can stress from to much weight cause the engine to get hot and cause your water pump to leak out the weep hole? and what else causes it to leak?: This could be normal wear-and tear. Poor cooling system maintenance will cause a water pump to fail premtutrely.

Q: does anyone know the proper way to take the lower gearcase off and install a new water pump kit. it is a 1986.: This is a simple repair but I'd recommend that you get a service manual, ether a factory manual or one of the generic Seloc manuals. The key things to do are mark the trim tab so you can put it back in the same position after repairs. Drain the oil. Removing the bolt that is in the hole at the back end of the upper housing, as well as all the obvious Nuts. both above and under the cavitation plate. Put the drive in forward gear, which takes the tension off the shift shaft. Once all the nuts and bolt are loose. Jiggle the drive and it will separate from the upper housing. You now have access to the water pump housing. Remove the housing and pull it up and off the d. Shaft. Inspect fully and account for missing impeller blades. When you re assemble Lube the impeller and put the drive key in place and put the impeller in place. Slide the housing down to the impeller. You can use ether th drive shaft or the propeller to turn the drive shaft in a clockwise direction as you apply pressure on the housing, It should slide down over the impeller. Reassemble in reverse order. Slide the drive shaft up into the upper housing turning the D. shaft using the prop to turn the shaft. Watch the water tube slip into the guide tube. Once it's in place put a couple nuts on then check the gear shift to make sure it goes F-N-R. Bolt up and fill with oil. Good Luck!

Q: Im an SHO fan looking to get another one. The car I'm looking at is a 1991 Taurus SHO. Price is pretty cheap and nothing wrong with it except he said the water pump will need replaced soon. Ive looked at water pumps and Im aware of cost. Im decently savvy with car repair but there are a few things ive never learned. How easy is it to replace a water pump? Should I have a go at it myself or is it better to be done professionally? What is the general cost for a garage to switch out the water pump?: The water pump is either belt driven on the exterior of the engine block but in most cases for small engines like this on I would assume you would have to take the timing belt#x2F; chain cover off and it is probably driven by the timing belt#x2F;chain it is quite simple once you open it up and take it out. Much like a alternator if you know how to use tools you#x27;ll be able to figure this one out. Good luck!

Q: Hi I really need a USB water pump (small). I have found one in China but they need payment in a different currency so its proving difficult. I would much prefer a US/EUROPE seller. Cheers.PSgt; If I had to pay to get the power supply changed from wire to USB then I could if anyone knows who could do this.: The USB output has a 5V power supply. USB2 delivers up to 500mA and later versions may be 900mA. USB hubs start off with less than this (100mA) but change as they are initialised. Some dedicated USB charging ports supply up to 1.8A. There are some USB power cables that take the output from 2 ports in a sort of Y harness (first link for example). The result of all this is that only a very small pump would run from most USB ports. I did find 2 rated at 5W and 8W but the voltage was not shown. I suspect they were mains operation, meant for large water bottles. If they were 5V they would use 1A and 1.6A respectively, so only run from special USB charge points or double cables, and only in some cases anyway. I assume you want to run from a Laptop/Notebook battery for convenience. The point is that even if the USB port can supply the correct voltage and current the battery would be emptied very quickly. It is probably cheaper to get a suitable pump, then power it from a separate and more suitable rechargeable battery or mains adaptor (wall wart), whatever it takes, taking into account how long it should run with a single charge. This is about the battery voltage and the capacity in ampere hours - the number of hours it can supply a given current. D size rechargeable (Ni-MH) would run a 6V x 6W motor using 1A for about 6 hours. C size cells are half that, and AA cells about half again. It takes 4 cells to get 5V. Get them as a pack though or at least with a battery holder, as they cannot be soldered. Then you need a proper charger. Recent laptop/notebook batteries are lithium ion types, 10.8V and 4.8Ah, so deliver 1A @10.8V for 4h more or less. Other types worth considering are for cordless drills.

Q: I'm going to be purchasing a laboratory distillation kit here pretty soon, the kit includes everything I need for the setup but the condenser requires a water pump to circulate cold water around the coils. What kind of pump would you recommend for this purpose?: The only thing you might need a pump for is if you are distilling/refluxing something and it is not all condensing before it reaches the end/top of the tube, resulting in vapor escaping. In that case you would use a bucket of ice water with a submersible pump.

Q: We had a thunderstorm followed by power outage last night, this morning I went to use the water and it slowly went dead.I began by inspecting the pressure tank and pressure control switch, then found the outside water pump breaker was tripped, upon resetting the water was back on!But wait, after about 1-2 minutes of use there was a small quot;POPand smoke from the control switch and the breaker tripped again. It seems now that every time the water pump kicks in I've got a 50/50 shot of the circuit breaker blowing. I'm not sure what to do now, I don't want to keep resetting my pump breaker, we really didn't get that much rain so I don't know what would be causing this issue?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!: If it works on one circuit but not another, why don't you just leave it where it works ? You didn't say what size the breaker is, or if there's something else on the same circuit. Maybe the pump plus one other item on that circuit are together enough to trip the breaker. Is it possible to give it it's own dedicated breaker at a bigger current, say 15 or 20 amps ? There's nothing wrong with being generous with your breaker size, it's not uncommon for breakers to trip if there's a constant current which is near, but under the rated current. It will still trip the breaker if there's a short.

Q: Why should the water pump be opened in time after the pump is started?: There are many kinds of water pumps in power plants! Single-stage centrifugal pumps generally do not open in time, with the valve opening current increased! Multi stage centrifugal pump should be opened in time, otherwise it will lead to fever due to compression of liquid! With the valve opening, the current will increase! Single stage axial flow pump usually open the valve open, with the valve opening, current changes little or fall!

Q: Recently my ford aerostar van started pouring water from the weephole of the waterpump and all my oil was just disappearing leaving just foam on the dipstick...we drained what oil was in it and there was antifreeze in the oil so we figured it was a blown head but it it possible for antifreeze to leak into the oil due to a bad waterpump?: Yes it is possible. The reason I say that is because if you had a bad water pump and your vehicle overheated that can bust a head gaske, crack a head, crack a block, or a combination. If yo have anyone of those then your antifreeze and oil will mix. So indirectly, yes. If it is only a bad waterpump and nothing cracked then it is not possible.

Q: i need to change my water pump on my vw 1990 gti. the more details and/or pictures the better or links i can go to to show me: The 1990 4 cylinder was before they ran the pump off the timing belt, so it is still V-belt driven, and it is not necessary to touch the timing belt. Since it is belt driven, you should expect it to be near the passenger side of the engine, but it actually bolts to the front of the engine, near the bottom. In the linked image, they have included the housing, which you see bolts to the side of the block with an O ring seal. It is recommended you remove this housing, so that you can more easily get at all the small bolts holding the water pump to the housing. But there is no reason not to reuse the old housing. This also has the thermostat in it, so replace that at the same time. You may be able to leave the hoses attached if you are working on a lift, from below. The power steering pump may be in the way and need to be lowered. Take the passenger side wheel off. If you have to get at it from the top, it may be much harder, because the AC mounting plate would need to be removed and the head gets in the way, but also possible. Set aside a whole day, just to make sure you have enough time to finish if this is your first one. But you could probably do it a second time in about 3 hours.
