Q:Even when all water is shut off in the camper, my water pump keeps running. Even when the tank is completely empty. Does anyone know what is causing this?: The pump is pressure regulated and kicks on when pressure in the water storage tank drops, such as it does when you open a water faucet. Either the pressure regulator is defective or you have a leak in the plumbing. Somewhere there is an electric switch where you can turn the pump off manually, either on the pump or near the pump. I suggest you shut it off until you can determine what the problem is.

Q:changed the thermostat. it overheats but cools down a heat bar or two idling at stoplights. i filled up the coolant reservoir when i changed the thermostat, drove it about 2 miles(engine was already up to temp when i started) and it overheated. drove it two miles back going about 35-40 and it never went above normal but was still overheating. checked the reservoir and it was empty. stuffed a hose in it and plugged it up with a towel to force water in to see if it was leaking anywhere, no leaks. while running with the rpms up the top hose is easy to squeeze. makes me think water pump. but if i go over 45 it over heats makes me think clutch fan.: it's a simple little part, a pain to fix. I know it's a time consuming task, but is it especially hard to replace it?: If you don't have any experience working on cars aside from changing oil my suggestion is to take it in and get it done. You need to drain the coolant, loosen the belt, and then try and torque off those bolts that are prolly sticky on the water pump. And if the water has eaten through the gasket you may need to get the engine block redone where the water pump rests. Oh but don't go to Meineke yuck, you might as well pull your pants down at your own house and sit on a plunger handle; at least it is free and will probably be less painful.

I just want to know so I can post an estimate of how much it costs on the site I'm selling it on.: ok i looked it up if you have the base LX or sport escort with a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine the water pump is 62.99 at advance auto parts. a water pump gasket is 1.09 and it says its a good idea to replace your timing belt which is only 25.99 all prices are based off of advance auto parts, other stores will vary. and buya haynes or chilton repair manual so you know what your doing. good luck

Q:2005 pontiac grand prix 3.8 v6There is a scratching type of noise when i start the car. Looked under the hood and it seemed to be coming from the serpentine belt.Took the belt off and and checked the pulleys for any play and turned out the water pump pulley wobbles back and forth too much. Replaced the belt with a new one and want to replace the pulley. It does not seem to have a loose screw so i'm wondering if i can take the pulley itself off and replace it, or would i have to replace the pump too? Still makes the noise with new belt and you can see the pulley wobble a bit when the car is running.: you have to replace the pump ! it,s not the pulley that,s wobbling, it,s the bearing in the water pump that,s bad and you can,t replace the bearing !

Q:Okay, I'm setting up an NFT hydroponic garden and am now looking for the water pump. I would like some suggestions for one that will give a steady stream at a good rate for the plants. But, it must have a minimum lift of 5ft to reach the first level.I would prefer one with a flow rate adjustment but if you could at least make a suggestion to the GPH it should pump for the right flow after a 5 ft climb I could search more in that range for one I like.Thank you!: I think you may want to look at the small pond pumps and just about any nursery or home supply store or landscaping store. they may have the specs on hand, or see if they can demo one for you. some places have a display pond set up already. You also might try a small swimming pool pump and put a voltage regulator in the line and adjust the pump speed that way. maybe rig a sewing machine pedal in the line and use a C clamp for an adjuster. I love rigging thing. It may not work with a gfi plug.
