Q: My water pump in my pontiac bonneville 99 went bad, and while I was in the navy, in aviation fuels, some of my job consisted of repairing pumps and valves, and rebiulding them all together, and this water pump from my car seems to have some of the same features of previos pumps i've worked on, usualy when i use to repair pumps, most of the time i just replaced the bearings, just wondering if its do-able, im looking for the cheapist way to fix this, the casing for the pump seems to be in very good condition, but havent got it out of my car yet, im short on tools right now for the moment... thanks in advance for any help...: Dont waste your time rebuilding it, just buy one from napa or some auto parts place with a life time warrenty, on something like that your time is worth more then the water pump, and since the pump is having to deal with hot water and corrosion it's possible it might go out again soon or never but with the warrenty it wont hurt so bad.

Q: I think the water pump on my 40 hp mercury outboard 2 stroke is not working, the hole witch usually pours out all the water that was used to cool the engine does not pour any water at all. Is this a problem with the water pump? If not what?: Check the water intake is not blocked. Then the water impellor. Then lastly check the water tell tail outlet hole is not blocked/obstructed.

Q: I had my timing belt replaced @ 80k (now have 138k) and was told by new mechanic that the water pump was not replaced then. Do I need to have pump replaced? What will happen if I don't? Thx: water pump is usually replaced with the timing belt since it is easiest to get to when you are doing the timing belt. your water pump may go out on you tomorrow or last for another 300k miles, who knows. but with it not having been changed, you are still riding on a pump with 138k on it. lots of miles on that impeller. if it lasts, just have it changed next timing belt...which I would do @ around 160k miles ~ 80k is about right for a timing belt to last. civic water pumps are cheap...as are the timing belts.

Q: someone told me my water pump may be going out and it sounds like their is a loose barron inside of it, so how much is it and and if i was to have someone else to fix it how much will it cost me: This should be a V6 engine correct. if looking at front of engine,toward the belt , the water pump is located behind pulley appox. 5 inches on the side toward radiator. highest pulley on right side of engine. Replacement can be performed easily without many special tools.. First loosens each of the pulley bolts on pump. Then release tension on belt and route away from pulley. Remove remaining pulley bolts and pulley , Water pump has 5 bolts holding it to cover assembly, Mark-index the way pump installs and remove. Clean all gasket material. Install new pump and gasket, refill system and to open air blled on cooler pipe near water pump to allow air to escape.

Q: I just put a new water pump in my jeep and after I put it in I ran it and it seemed to have a small leak while it was running it seems like it was coming from the crank which is under the water pump so it might be a leak coming from the bottom of the pump. When I turn the car off it is no longer a leak its more like pouring water out. What do you think it can be? I put a gasket and the blue silicone gasket sealant all around it and on it before I put it in so I have no idea. Thank you for the help.: Sound like the new water pump is junk. The water is leaking out of the weep hole. That is a hole designed to leak when the pump bearing is going bad. It is a safety precaution so you don't fry the bearing and lock up your pulley system.

Q: My car was is leaking antifreeze. One guy told me without even l putting it up in the air to check it that it was the radiator. The second guy I took it to said it is the water pump. He told me a total of six hundred sixty one dollars to replace it. I went to pep boys and was told eight hundred sixty two. I have a 2000 grand am se.: Do it yourself I did it 4 times to different cars easy job depending on where you buy 40 to 90 dollars just take of belt drain radiator take off necessary accessories take of pump put a sealant on and there ya go

Q: I would like to know some details about water pumping (ie. coca cola pumping water out of india) i just wanted to know some sort of prosedure like do they dig a hole and pump or what? I can't find any useful other information when i search it all that it says is that they quot;pumped waterbut nothing more. Thank you =): Usually they look for an underwater spring or reservoir, then they drill or dig into it. From there, they either instal a pump or use it as a well. As for how it works, refer to water pressure.
