Q: i am BSEE student, my project study is to synchronize the generator of an hospital, it have a one 313KVA standby-power diesel gen.,and three 100kva transformer.The generator system is operated manually and no ATS or UPS. one more new building is being build so the transformer will be upgrade to a higher vale.1)what is the new gen. to be buy?(rating, etc.)2)how i can connect the new gen. to the old gen.?3)what is the controller so when the new gen. attains its full load the old gen. will start.These is my title: To synchronize the generator system of the ____ Hospital.Anyone have a good title?Thanks.: The only thing I can think of is watch the second Thomas Edison Bio film and pay careful attention to when he is working on lighting up the city using his electric light bulb. He had to synchronize two generators at that point. I'm sure you can find the answer there.

Q: I am build a 40KVA permanent magnet generator for diesel engine. the customer request the voltage is DC 28V after an rectifier. may be this 28V dc charge for the battery. can someone help me how much AC voltage should be output by the permanent magnet generator?permanent magnet generator----AC ???V----rectifier---28VDC---charge to battery.: In AC side connect a series high current Choke with less no of turns take the out put use a High current bridge Diodes with suitable heat sink.For regulating out put ,In the series choke place a Dc winding that can be excited by a separate dc circuit, Increase saturation will give same voltage decrease excitation will give drop in voltage.It is like magnetic Amplifier.Set the out put voltage with pre set point or a regulating circuit.I have given rough Idea If you want further detail PM me (This only cheapest method unless you have use thyristor or others to con troll may be expensive)

Q: I am planning to buy a 20 KVA Diesel Generator. Both the vendors are confusing me over Air cooled and Liquid cooled engines. Can anyone help me to understand the pros and cons of the said engines for a commercial requirement.: At 20 KVA I'm thinking the air cooled set is using a Deutz, Want some advice? Avoid it like the plague! First off there noisy, and if you don't like replacing timing belts and head gaskets these are not the engines for you, As a heavy diesel equipment mechanic I seriously hate these engines, Lucky for me the outfit I work for now wont buy any piece of equipment equipped with a Deutz engine, So do yourself a favor and find a Genset with a Kubota or Isuzu in it, there not dumb enough to use an air cooled design, actually just buy a Multiquip and save yourself the headaches and repair bills.

Q: I noticed how all the commuter trains here in Massachusetts use diesel engines. Will they switch to overhead lines in the not so distant future?: Bombardier has come up with some new technology that will not require the ugly overhead power lines. Right now its being geared for trams and light rail. A box is buried underneath the track, and when the train passes over there is a surge of energy that gets passed to the train battery. A person can walk over the track and box, but they will not be affected. Right now the technology is not advanced enough for heavier trains. Massachusetts will probably go to a new dual mode locomotive by Bombardier thats being built right now in Kassel Germany. It has a pantograph on top for the power lines. When it comes to a line without power it uses diesel and battery. Its really a revolutionary locomotive that will be ready in 2011. New Jersey Transit has 28 on order with an option to buy almost 90 locomotives if it works out.
