- With electric heat, you're into a large generator. 'Automatic on' means a transfer switch generator control panel. If you're thinking about 'survival mode' diesel is your best fuel option. (More widely available, less tech. support for refueling, and stores well.) You might consider an engine heat capture system for efficiency in winter conditions. You probably need about 20-25KVA to handle full load with heating. (That's only a 'guestimate, DO do the math before you select a unit.) This won't be cheap.

- both. ac or dc depends on your needs. do you need a 28 volt 500 amp generator (thats DC) for running Dc motors. Ususally for small purposes its an AC generator putting out say 6000 watts at 120 VAC or 240 VAC at 60 Hz or 50 Hz depending which country you live in or generator came from. Also along with the AC it puts out, it also has an output of 12 volt DC for charging batteries, even its own, for starting itself,like a car. DC generators of any size is for mostly for welding as the last link shows you one and a picture

- Hi It is the same as a gas engine to maintain. Except for the fuel has to be water free. There will be a bowl some where to empty the water. Changing the oil etc. depends on how much you use it.

- Hello There are different kinds of power generatorswhat purpose are you looking to fulfill? How big is your home or wherever you're trying to heat? I would recommend a diesel generator as opposed to a gasoline generator. They're more efficient, which also translates to being much cheaper to run. They make silent diesel generators (not 100% silent but decently quiet). If you wanted to do some welding with the generator, you could do that too. - Q: I can visually see the electronic speed actuator moving in and out when this is happening. Should I replace the actuator or could it be something else. This is in a boat.
- There are several models of the 20K Westerbeke. Can you post up which model you have? It could be as simple as an adjustment. The actuators do not generally fail. However, if you have a lot of hours, say 2000, then the actuator spring may be worn out. Please post up your model and I will see what I can do. Also you can email me.

- It is about inertia and storage. Hybrid is a new technology and it is more efficient, but they lack performance something the American car market still craves. Did you know that all Diesel locomotives in the US are hybrid and have been for decades? The diesel engine charges batteries and electric motors provide the actual drive.

- i don't know about your possibilities where you are but i would definitely suggest using as much natural lighting as possible and the alternate wood heating furnaces available
