Q: I have a generator overseas and it has been giving me problems. It ran for 7 days, died due to over heat. fixed that prob, now it wont start, gives me a code 0097 01, water in fuel. but the sensor is good, wires read good. At a brick wall here.: I looked online and this company makes everything from small gas driven to large diesel driven. You say the code is for water in the fuel and if it's diesel water would ruin the injectors so it very well could not allow it to start for that reason. At a minion you need to tell us a little more. Did it shut its self down for the over heat or did it size and shut down? that is a good point to start with.

Q: Actually , I heard someone talking about diesel generators and that voltage required, he said two types of diesel generators for electric furnaces in steel industry , the first 16000 voltage, approximately , and the second 32000 voltage I really want to know what does he meant .: Either could work. I don't know what he means.

Q: I inherited a never used generator from a family estate with no motor. After a tornado here last fall I've decided to build a gen-set with it and I have a few questions. 1) Does the 1800 rpm generator mechanical specification mean that the required engine rpm must be a minimum, maximum 1800 rpm or both? Could it be more or is the chance to ruin it a possibility? I want to stay safe.2) Obviously I'm assuming the 25 hp engine requirement is a minimum but how much bigger can it be without wet stacking problems?3) With these generator output specifications can I power my household without damaging anything?I was planning diesel (still researching brands) and connecting direct. Thoughts?: 1) The 1800 RPM specification is the speed which will produce the 60 Hz output. This frequency is critical in some of your household electronics, maybe. If the speed is lower than 1800 RPM, the hertz will be lower. If speed is higher, the hertz will be higher. 2) The 25 HP driver is probably sufficient for your generator. A more powerful engine will not return the value for the extra cost of the larger driver. However, a larger driver will give you perhaps a better frequency control. 12.5 KW is (in theory) 12500 / 746 16.75 HP. I'm not sure what 'wet stacking' is. 3) .It will power most households. You may have some problem starting a large AC unit, if you have your electric clothes dryer, stove, oven and a larger lighting load on at the time it comes on. TexMav

Q: For 100Kw generator, what will be minimum/ maximum loadfor its safe operation.: The maximum load will be given by the exhaust temperature, regardless of the nameplate rating. There is a maximum steady state temperature, which can be exceeded for short periods, say, 10 to 20 %, given by the engine mfr. The minimum load for an engine which runs at constant speed, i.e., a power generator, is about 50%. Below that it starts to shake dangerously. . .

Q: I just purchased a KOHLER generator 500 KVA would it be safe to run at 10 % load for 6-8 hours: 500 kva is a big generator and I am guessing it is diesel. It is safe to run at 10% load however it is not good for the engine itself to make a practice of that. It can lead to lower cylinder temperatures and incomplete combustion over time. It is always better to run at or as close to max load as you can.

Q: about diesel generator: In water cooled Diesel Generators.The diesel enginee is cooled by water and in Air cooled diesel generators enginee is cooled by air.In water cooled, water is circulated around diesel enginee the heated water is cooled by radiator.And in air cooled Pistonblock is in direct contact with air pistonblock has fin or groves to increase surface area for better heat exchange.

Q: I was talking with a friends and I know gas in a car or lawnmower etc will go bad after a certain amount of time. Then we got thinking about the massive amounts of diesel fuel in storage at hospitals etc, is there a storage life for it? and is it turned over all the time?: Let me explain something to you: Hybrid is a drive configuration. Diesel is an energy source. You see how they're two completely different things? You can have a diesel hybrid, what do you think freight trains are? Diesel fuel has it's up sides, and a diesel electric hybrid would be even better. Why do you have such a personal dislike of hybrids? What exactly do you have against a more efficient, longer lasting drive configuration? Oh, and you talk about low end torque? Electric drive produces max torque at stall. You'll never win a torque battle with an electric, they've got it all over ICEs in that department.

Q: Did some searching, and found little other than single, model specific, manuals (either paper or on CD). The paper manuals are $50-60 each. Single model PDF manuals on CD are about $20.Does anyone know if a comprehensive set of shop service manuals is even available for Yamaha Portable Generators? (gas and diesel) I don't mind paying, but I don't want just ONE manual, I want 'em all. That way I don't have to go through this again when a different model Yamaha comes into my shop.
