Q: How to convert kVA (kilo-volt Ampere) to kg/h (kilogram per hour) for diesel generator set (genset)? I want to know the relation about the energy produced (kVA) to the fuel that used (kg/h) in the genset, either it used more diesel fuel or not. i.e the kVA amount produced is 106kVA and the rpm is 1500rpm
Man, your question is really cryptic. I assume that you are trying to relate kg/h (kilogram per hour) of (maybe fuel) into the engine with kVA (kilo-volt amperes) out of a generator that it may run. There is no conversion factor. But there are some rules of thumb that some can make, based on the size and service of the engine. But you did not provide even that scant information, either.
Q: What type of diesel engine diesel
Diesel generator is a small power generation equipment, refers to the use of diesel oil as fuel, diesel engine as the prime mover driven generator power generation machinery.
Q: i need a generator that can be continually run for years it needs to be able to easlly provide enough power for five one person cabinsi am going to use this to power a camp so it needs to withstand the outdoor elements i am looking for a brand name and an approximate costthank you to all who answer
Contact several local electrical contractors in your area to get some design build estimates. The size is a small consideration rather the durable type of generator you need that can run as a quiet unit for many years is a problem. The best solution is probably 2 or 3 medium size generators that can be run in a parallel configuration. 5 units to power might be as little as 100 amps each so 500 amps at 240 volts is about a 120KW so 3 units of 40 KW each might be a consideration. Using multiple units will allow maintenance on one unit and not lose power. For prices the electrical contractor in your area will know more about what the labor rates are for this type of project. I will give AWAG that $10,000 per KW is not too far off.
Q: I want to place a quiete genarator which is about 7kva. Will it disturb people in my apartment? We usually make a lot noise in the building. But doesn't sound a lot also?
a 7kva generator isnt even that quiet. i know they say quiet but theres only so much you can do. why do you need a generator anyways? and yeah it probably would disturb the people in your apartment.
Q: I know about solar panels and wind turbines but either will have to be above ground. Petrol or diesel generators are to loud and fuel isn't cheap these days.
Nuclear reactor power plant. Stationary exercycles. Water wheel in underground river. Steam boiler fired by coal or natural gas. Fuel cell.
Q: I know a train runs on an electric engine powered by a diesel generator. Would something like this be feasible for cars?
Not at the present cost of diesel. Nothing mechanical is 100% efficient, and when you start converting the different power sources - diesel to electric, electric to rotary, for instance - the torque and power may be sufficient for a particular application, but the inefficiencies simply add up from one source to the next.
Q: how exactly to fossil fuel power plants work?
Fossil fuel power plants burn fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) and heat water to produce steam which turns a turbine to drive a generator which produces electricity.
Q: If it is that equation then if i ran a 500 gallon diesel generator under full loadsaying at about 3.5MPG will i get 1250 hours to get 52 days?!?!?!? or am i off on equation or my theory????
Conversion? They are calculating two different things. The reason something would be measured in work hours instead of mileage is for the fact the equipment does not in fact travel under its own load or it spends more time at a stand still. Work hours tend to be used on a lot of construction equipment and other things that stay stationary for long amounts of time thus creating wear on the unit though it is not moving and adding miles so they use hours to calculate how old the unit is or when it needs to be serviced next. You can never get an actual equality from these two different units as one measures time usage/fuel and one measures distance/fuel if you were calculating to find a run time for example. ***additional*** There would be no equation for MPG that you are looking for if converting from hours. Are you looking for how much fuel is consumed over a length of time? That's the only way to calculate fuel consumption would be over time vs. over a distance as MPG is.
Q: I understand that it powers your stuff. But how does it get power? How long can it run before losing it's power? Please no physics, just a simple answer. Thanks!
A generator has a gas or diesel engine that turns a motor that makes electric. It runs until it burns up all the fuel in the tank.
Q: If oil prices went super crazy.
Rango is correct.Straight electric would be the way to go.All that diesel does is power a big generator anyways.I don't see it happening in the near future though. The trucks on the highway are wasting much more fuel than the railroads are.One gallon of fuel will move a ton of freight on the rails about 400 miles.A truck gets it about 59 miles. Bob just as a side note we don't have short time rating anymore on locomotives like the SD 70 and the C44ac and theC45ac.They will grind along all day at low speed.
