- Q: I have 2004 Chevy Trailblazer V8 4x4 that the water pump went out on. Does anyone know how long it takes to change it and where it is located? The dealer wants $750.00 to fix it. I really don't want to get riped off.

- Q: are there any pumps that can save energy more? Environmental protection is necessary and the price is not high.
- Water pump. ( Pond ) Sump pump. ( Flood prevention ) Auto water pump. ( Radiator ) What is the specific purpose of the pump.
- Q: Car started making noises right after hitting deer, week later car that has never had a problem began to overheat and mechanic says water pump went out and that it has nothing to do with hitting the deer.
- It could have had something to do with it if the radiator was damaged. This is the problem with new cars everything is hidden so you need to replace a half dozen good parts so you can fix the one thats bad. In the not to long ago days you would have went to the auto store, plunked down about $20.00 for a new pump went home and after taking out maby 4 bolts, had the new one on and been back on the road in an hour or so. If your not old enough to remember those days then it doesn't matter. Your going to pay maby 6-8 hundred dollars to replace a 50 dollar part.
- Q: I am selling a 96 eclipse that needs a new water pump. I am willing to sell it for an offer as is, but I would like to fix it and sell it for more, so it is as if I am getting paid for the labor. My question is, is it possible at all to change out a water pump on a 96 eclipse without pulling the engine out? Like through the passenger wheel well access panel or anything?
- Ive owned some Mitsubishis... they have an inclination to no longer be the main solid automobiles on earth. I actually have a eagle talon tsi (the swifter yet much less solid kind), and it choose maintenance surprisingly many times. the rs is a little extra solid, yet for my area, in case you do not have funds, and its your first motor vehicle, get something a splash extra solid.... (i'm gonna hate myself for asserting this) look at a Toyota or Honda... i made the blunders of having a ludicrous motor vehicle as my first and that i had no longer something yet problems with it... i had to spend what little funds i had to maintain the piece of crap working, purchase a first rate motor vehicle for now and spend you cash on a date or something :) -do notcontinual swifter then your parent angel can fly-
- Q: How does a pump get water from a low low elevation to a higher elevation.

- Q: My water pump is starting to leak. The shops are quoting $250- $300 to replace but I can buy a water pump at the auto parts store and install myself for less than $100 but I don't know what all is involved with this repair or if I should try (my only experience with car repair up to now is recently replacing the alternator). If anyone has done this please let me know what you think. thanks
- you can make it even easier by purchasing a hayne's manual for your car when you buy the water pump. you will need it anyway so you can have the proper torque specs and sequence when reinstalling the new water pump. so if you don't have a torque wrench you will need to rent one. the first step of course will be to drain your cooling system. then use masking tape and a sharpie to number any connectors or hoses you have to remove to access the water pump. once the old one is off make sure to clean every trace of gasket material from the mating flange. then when you are ready to reinstall put a thin coat (use you fingers to spread)of rtv silicone to each side of the new gasket this will help hold in place. then here's where you will need the book insert the bolts and tighten them in sequence shown to the proper torque unless you want to chance cracking the new pump housing. on a car this old if it has not already been done now would be a good time to replace hoses (esp. if they are soft) and your thermostat since you've already got the cooling system drained. once everything is reassembled start the engine and begin pouring in the new coolant, if there are any bleed screws open these it's very important to get all the air out of the system if there are no bleed screws you can leave the cap off the radiator or expansion tank (you'll need to anyway) since one you think its filled when the thermostat opens its all gonna drain down and you'll have to top it off again. here is a good time to pay attention as it approaches normal operating temp be ready to start pouring as soon as the level starts to drop that will help keep more air from getting in. any questions feel free to e-mail me
- Q: I've been looking online and can't find anywhere that tells me how to replace the water pump in my 1999 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0. Help please.
- A manual will be handy to guide you through. It is a fairly extensive job. As a run down, you will need a big floor jack with a block of wood so you can put it underneath the oil pan. You need to do this so you can remove the motor mount that will be in your way. The water pump is driven by the timing belt. You will want to get a new t-belt, t-belt tensioner, rollers for timing belt, etc. Also note that when you are refilling system with coolant, there will be a lot of air in the system. If you don't have a tool that vacuums all the air and pressurizes the coolant through the system, you will have to keep topping off the coolant for a while until all the air escapes as you drive it. Hope this helps.
- Q: when i drove my truck after about 15 minutes i was parked and let my truck idle afetr about a minute of idling my truck stalled and when i turned it back of it was squeeking and made some noises for about ten seconds and then stopped. I noticed that the pully on my fan coming from the water pump was wobbling. my tempuratue was still normal what could cause this i am suspecting taht the bearings in my water pump went?
- These water pumps are chronically junk. Luckily they are easy to change. If your mechanically inclined at all you can replace it for about $75 including antifreeze and it will take about 1.5 hours. Otherwise you should figure about $175 plus to have a shop replace it. ______________________________________ I see someone stated that they usually leak by this point. Thats true for every other vehicle ever made BUT! not for this unit.
- Q: My 1999 ford taurus WATER pump and serpentine belt need to be replaced because I can't stir the stiring wheel .... Would you know approximately how much this could cost so I dont get ripped off ??? I know nothing about cars... and this mechanic is saying between 300$ to 400$ and that is wayyy too expensive . It was kinda obvious to him that I know nothing about carsTHANKS A LOT!!!
- Sounds about right to me, the parts would run right around $100 total or maybe a little more and of course the shop has to make their money. Water pump removal generally requires at least partially draining the cooling system (pain in the ***) in addition to trying to get the pump out of a FWD vehicle. Not the best price possible but definitely fair.
- Q: do I need to replace it again ? How hard is it to change the water pump? Any Idea where on the internet I can download a free maintenance manual or replacement instructions ?
- If it were mine, I'd replace the belt again anyway, coolant can accelerate the wear or advance rotting of the belt. The waterpump is driven off of the timing belt so you'd need to make sure you have it all set up to TDC and all marks aligned before removing the belt. Then just remove the bolts to the water pump, scrape away all old gasket material and install new pump, torque bolts to specs w/ micrometer (in lbs) but before you can do all that, you have to remove all components on the front of the motor. Long story short...let a shop do it for you!!!
