Q:I was told to replace the distributor and check the fuses. Also to check the wiring from the distributor to the alrenator. Where is all this stuff at and how do I check it The car just stopped and sounds like it is going to start but won't. Thanks
Best to take it to Mechanic or garage dealing with Toyotas and Japanese autombiles but we use to have a 1993 Toyota Camry LE (kept it like 12 years and had 211,000 miles when my wife and her sisters upgraded to SUVs as she now drives 2005 Toyota Highlander 6 cylinder AWD) and FYI replacing the distrbutor itself is very expensive part for just the electrical component itself plus labor and yes it does eventually go If you are planning to keep this 1993 Camry for some time in excess of 1 year, then my advice would be to pay extra for genuine Toyota distributor part rather than just OEM substitute bec I made this mistake before and the OEM part itself was $200 and died in month 13 after the parts warranty expired. I had previously replaced the distributor cap, 4 spark plugs and spark plug wires myself before with genuine Toyota parts but basically my mechanic confirmed my worse nightmare when the distributor failed again and had to be towed saying that there was no spark coming when he pulled the wire Again this can be costly repair so best to take to reputable garage as they will stand behind repairfor 90 days on labor and part 12 months. Hope the Above Info Helps!
Q:Hi, I'm installing a cutoff switch in my car. The fuse I want to use is 30amps. I'm unable to locate a 30 amp preferably a rocker style but a toggle switch will due.2 questions Am I correct in assuming I need a 30amp switch? Where can I find one.The boys amp; a few other stores including radio shack doesn't have them Thanks
Agree, okorder
Q:For professional mechanics. I have a 93 buik regal with a 3800. It has no ignition fire. It began with intermittent stalling but would start back up. Then it wouldn't start at all. The control module and coils have proven to be good (tested on another vehicle). It has new cam and crank sensor. Harmonic balancer has no damage to the interrupter rings. PCM is good (tested on another vehicle), Cam is turning and cam magnet is present. Performed a thorough continuity check on all wiring in the circuit from every single point, checks good. Still no fire. What did I miss? Remember, all components in the circuit is good and I'm positive the timing chain is not broken.
Well, you show that your fingerprints are all over the components, BUT- how about diagnostics? Have you done pin-out tests at the PCM? G.M. has a known failure rate in the harnesses. Have you tested for voltage? Have you checked the vRef for the components? When you turn the key on, does the MIL illuminate? If not, check the fuses and Vpwr for the PCM. If the MIL does illuminate, have you checked for Diagnostic Codes? If you need, e-mail me, and I will see if I can help out!
Q:I have this hot tub that froze and busted a lot of the lines going to the jets. I replaced all these and turned the power back on with one of the gates still in the closed position. Not usre if I damaged the pump or what but I can't get it to do anything but blow fuses. The readout says it's overheating. I took the motor cover off and spinned the porpelers and they turned good. Also the heat senor has melted out of the inline water heater and was wondering if these are replaceable. THis unit has two pumps and it is a fourwinds model 700 maverickThanks for any help
I think Four Winds use balboa spa equipment. The sensors are either sold as a combo with the Temp sensor and hi limit or separately. Makes sure the power is off when you change them. The pump would not get damaged from a closed gate valve. To trace the GFCI tripping or blowing fuses. start by unplugging each of the pumps/components until you find the one that is causing the trouble. I do bet f you replace the high limit sensor your fuse blowing will stop. Whew! there's a lot of to tell you. Feel free to call us toll free and I can work it through with you on the phone Sunday afternoon. 1-888-atkippy. Your using the SC-30 fuses right? OH will go away as soon as you replace the sensor. Off the top of my head I would say the senor will cost 32-40 dollars. The blown fuses are coming from too much amp draw. This has got me very curious. Do inspect all your wires thoroughly to make sure there are no exposed wires and also do look at your fuse holder for burnt marks. I am betting you might have a value 2000 system and the fuse holder is charred. A faulty wiring condition exsists so please use extreme caution.
Q:i thght my car was flooded but then i checked the fuses and saw the fuel pump fuse was blown but when i replaced itlt; that one blew rite away!
The fuel pump is probably bad. Although, a bare wire rubbing against a metal bracket or something could cause a short in the wiring.
Q:a 1997 sebring JXI and the fog lights didnt work. Got new bulbs, replaced 'em and didnt work. Checked and all fuses are fine what is are some common 90's sebring electric problems
There are really only three options left and I would check them in this order: The fog light relay (most likely underhood) The fog light switch The wiring between all components A volt/ohm meter can test all of the above.
Q:Convergence is at its proper crossed white lines.Convergence resistors and pico fuses maybe?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
If it had bad fuses the cross would be misaligned. If you move the red and blue up and down and the whole picture moves (the red and blue part) then I suspect a vertical deflection problem. This could be the output ic, the jungle ic, or associated component and connections. The only way to find out is with an 0-scope in a shop.
Q:I am unable to locate the fuse that feeds the components mounted on the rear hatch (including the wiper, door lock, and keyless entry receiver). The service manual has no designated fuse. I would appreciate any help in solving this issue. Thanks.
in side of fuse cover should show full lay out of same look on inside of cover plate
Q:I have a 1998 Honda civic stock altenator I want do a 1200 watt amp it says 120 amps fuses and I want do 2 highs amp 1 300 watt and 1 400 watt will I be ok to hook this up
In the short term, probably. Long term - I'd be surprised if that alt lasts 6 mo. At anything over 1/2 volume that alt will basically be maxed out. Under that much stress the amount of heat produced will be extreme. Heat in alternators causes both the electrical components and the mechanical components to wear out quickly.
Q:I have a friend with a 1993 Chevy Lumina and it will not charge the battery for some reason. He just replaced it with a new alternator and had it checked to make sure it was good at the store he bought it. When we jump it off with another vehicle it cranks fine and runs.but then when you drive down the road it will die if you step on brakes.then try to crank it.and it is deadwill not crank.like a dead battery. We had the battery all charged up as the battery is only 1 year old. Even bought a new battery. Why won't this thing charge? It there some kind of other electrical component keeping it from charging properly? What about fuses or some other regulator or realy somewhere? The engine on it by the way is a v-6 and a 3.1liter.
There is an alternator fuse in the under hood fuse box . If that is not blown check the battery wire on the back of the alt for battery voltage .
