Q: The coolant in my '92 Le Baron is leaking, so I may have to change or replace my water pump.., any ideas?: Check your hoses first, changing out a water pump on a LeBaron is time consuming. You don't say what engine is in place so I'm going to assume it is the 3.0 V-6. First go to your auto parts store and purchase a Haynes manual for your LeBaron for approximately $16.00, go to the appropriate engine section and read up on changing the water pump. You will find it is quite a job and may be more than you want to tackle, but the money spent first will tell you whether or not you want to attempt the job before you get halfway through it and decide it is not something you wish to complete. And there is plenty of info in the manual for other repairs, one repair made by you and the book has paid for itself.

Q: replaced water pump and thermostat, flushed, opened bleeder valve had long life red colored original coolant, no visible leaks obstruction, when became hot on highway, accelerated quickly and temp back down to norm, eventually after 3hrs driving o.heated stopped and got towed home, new water pumps fins/pulley not turning as freely as old one, no leak out of inspection hole, hoses good shape.2001 2.2l ohv sunfire, air cond.: yep it should be hot.and the top radiator should be hot too when the engine is hot. if the bottom hose is cold when the engine is hot then it sounds like a clogged radiator. try this. after you get the engine hot, shut it down and feel the fins on the radiator next to the fan. if you feel cold spots then the radiator is clogged in some places.

Q: Water pump 50HZ impeller and 60HZ what is different, why not the same?: 60Hz pump and 50Hz pump itself is not much difference, just that the motor speed, the rated speed is 3600 rpm, 1200 rpm, 1800 rpm, the latter is generally 3000, 1500, 1000 etc.. If it is to use the same pump, the difference is that the 60Hz motor pump flow is 50Hz, motor water pump flow of 1.2 times, the lift is 1.2*1.2=1.44 times, power is 1.2*1.2*1.2=1.728 times. So in the actual manufacture, especially some relatively large flow lift pumps, pump motor using 60Hz to use 50Hz thicker than the spindle motor of the pump impeller, the difference between the two, in addition to empty size shaft is different, what basically no difference. As for the data of package angle, the water conservancy models of different factories are different, but I don't know whether there is any difference between them. Most of them make no difference. However, if you want to use the 60Hz pump to achieve the same flow rate as the 50Hz pump, the impeller of the former should be cut to 0.833 times the size of the latter.

Q: Hi, my mechanic said that I need a new water pump. I have a 1994 Dodge Caravan SE. What is involved with the whole changing of a water pump? He said it would cost about $400 to $500 for the whole job. Is that correct? Were is a good place to go get one? I live in Staten Island New York. Is sears a good place for that job? What is installed when they do this job? Belts or what??? I thank you for your time and any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again :-): well first off you dont mention what size engine. if you have the 3.0 l v-6, then that price will be fair if they are replacing the timing belt and tensioners when they are replacing the water pump. as for a good place it depends on the mechanics and there certifications if they have any ase certified master tech. 20+ years exp.
