- Q: I am a 20 y/o male ectomorph body type 130 lbs 5'7. I have been working out for about 2 years but probably only started getting serious with compound exercises with high weight, low reps, for about 2 months.I have already seen alot of improvements by doing more compound exercises vs isolated ones. I do squats, deadlifts, clean and press, dips, chin ups, etc, but when it comes to the bench press.... I just feel flat out weak. I am doing 5x5 for my sets/reps. I can only put a 45 on the bar and barely get it up 5 full reps. It's been like this for awhile. I feel strong everywhere else but for some reason, my bench is weak and my chest shows it.Any recommendations?
- You're bulking so make sure you get your calories from the right sources and lift hard. I would do more than just bench presses, do dumbbell flyes, incline/decline dumbbell press, and then work your way up to the bench. Make sure you are doing a split, meaning don't exercise more than 1 muscle once a week. My split is Mon- Legs Tues-Back and Shoulders Wed-OFF Thur-Chest Fri-Arms Sat-Light cardio I do sets of 12,10, and 8 with weights increasing by 5 pounds every set. - The press has never been unbiased. Ever heard of William Randolph Hearst? Obama is young and good looking. McCain is older. We're just seeing another example in the vein of Kennedy/Nixon. - God, I hate those. I'm doing them right now. Breathe out while your raise your arms and leg. Breathe in while you lower.

- Try a wider grip. The closer together your hands are the more you work your triceps. If you're really concerned about your pecs not doing enough work do some flies to isolate your chest muscles. You can do them on the machine, with dumbbells or cable.

- First check with local law enforcement as to the requirements for an official press pass... you may only need to make your awn as a freelance photojournalist or you can Google IFPO and join them. They have various packages you can buy and they include official press badges for their members. I am a member since 1978 and have never had a problem. I have the cards hanging off my camera bag and I have a leather pouch for one to wear. I have also formed my own organization Orlando Freelance Photography PRESS club and we use our own, Some entertainment venues are restrictive and require you to have one of their press packets... it contains information on the event, restrictions and a press pass. You want it to say all area access as well as PRESS. They must contain a photograph of you and your signature. The local government here in Orlando do not require any official press pass. - Q: Now, is it me, or is this workout vaguely effective? Is this truly a genuine chest workout? I have always done flat bench dumbell presses and incline bench presses, and have just introduced the Decline into my workout. Despite this being a new workout for my body, I do not get sore, nor do I feel exhausted. Also, I can Decline about 15 pounds more than I can flat bench and Incline, despite having little experience with the workout. So tell me your opinion; is this a good workout? - I have been taught that there is no pectorals worked in the decline. Though it is not a good chest exercise, the narrow grip decline barbell press is an exercise for your arm routine. My basic chest routine is push-ups to warm up, 3 flat press, 3 flat flies, 3 incline presses, 3 incline flies, cable cross overs, then I do dips or push-ups to failure. If you have a graviton dip machine in your gym it is a great way to squeeze out that last bit at the end of your chest routine. Remember to randomize between dumbbell and barbell exercises to your body does not get accustomed to your routine. If you are looking for size make sure you warm up, but beware the dangers of over training. Get lots of sleep and your lifting routing should be banged out in 25-30 minutes. Then move onto your daily abs/core routine(s) and if you have a calorie surplus ... your cardio.
