Q: What's harder a chest press or bench press?I don't know why but I can bench way more than I can lift on a chest press machine. the chest press sitting up pushing forward on a machine drops me like 40 lbs. Is that mental or is a chest press from a sitting position more difficult than a bench press, thanks
The chest press machine at my gym involves the user pushing away from his/her chest BUT, also pushing upwards slightly. This is most likely the case with yours as well. This is then considered to be an incline press. Since incline presses isolates your upper chest to do the work, you will always lift more with the bench press because there's a smaller fraction of your chest being used to push weight with the incline press. Note: the more of an incline you put to this press (Adjust the incline by doing the press on an adjustable bench) the more a shoulder workout it becomes. You will eventually reach a completely vertical press and this is ALL shoulder (military press).
Q: i received a rose yesterday and im persistent to make it last for years with out it falling apart!!! when i was a kid i used to press cosmos which turned out wonderful... now i have a half opened rose which i want to press.. any helpful deas?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? i want all the petals showing, how can i make it still look so lovely as it does now???????
it will be pressed, but cant be lovely as it does now. as all the petals will come closer when u press.
Q: in gym i am able to do a flat bench press of up to 40-45kg.....20-25kg feels like nothing.....but i am not able to do push ups ...maximum i have done in my life is 20 pushups on some lucky day...if i am doing 5 pushups rather 2 push up they does not feel effortless ....my first push up will feel like i am doing 100th....why is it so.....?i read some where that it is because of unbalanced training ...but on Wikipedia i found that both exercise target almost same muscle group...can some one clarify???
The bench press doesn't engage your core as much as push-ups do. A perfect push-up means your body stays in a straight line all throughout the movement -- a requirement that doesn't apply to the bench press. Work on your core strength with exercises like the plank. If you can't hold the top of a push-up for more than 15 seconds, you have a very weak core. It might also be that while you have the muscular strength to perform a push-up, you don't necessarily have the muscular ENDURANCE to perform A LOT of push-ups. Best way to work on that is...lots of push-ups! Just bang out as many as you can, whether it's 10 or 20 or 100, whenever you can.
Q: Im Looking for a high end pressed powder ( so no drugstore pressed powders) and i have combination to oily skin... any suggestions??!!
If you want MAC quality on a 'drug store' budget, I'd suggest getting Ben Nye pressed powder. It has just as much pigment as MAC for half the price.
Q: Been offered them, but just want to double check you're never expected to pay?!
Yes they are for PRESS, representatives of the press.
Q: i pressed my mac pigments and let them dry over night, now do i actually have to take a quarter and press each one? whats the point of that? im scared to touch them i dont know if theyre dry yet or not
Q: Does dry firing actual harm a gun? A: If the gun is a Sterling kind .22LR pocket-sized pistol, then particular! Dry-firing will harm the firing pin (i.e. the pin will smash in a million/2). I talk from adventure. some handguns, fairly older designs, at the instant are not made to proceed to exist dry-firing. fortuitously, there are agencies that marketplace snap-caps or dummy cartridges meant for prepare and education drills that contain non-firing ammunition. once you're doubtful, seek for suggestion from the firearm proprietor's instruction manual. once you're nevertheless doubtful, touch the producer. in case you at the instant cannot get a passable answer, then this is prudent to stay clear of dry-firing the firearm in question.
Q: Ok I will be 16 in March here(today is 2/16/09), I'm 5'11-6'0(somewhere between there) and weigh 161 ilbs and I can bench press 185 ilbs.
There is really no good bench press and bad bench press. Everyone is different and can lift different amounts. If that is your heaviest you can lift, I think that is pretty good for you, but someone the same size and weight might lift 100lbs and that could be good for them.
Q: How long do pressed flowers last without them falling apart? I bought pressed flowers from a brand called Pressed Petals, but don't know how long they'll last. Would they last at least a year or two?
first you have to remove the flowers from the bouqet and cutoff the stalks upto half inch of each and every flower and branch and now keep in fresh watered flowervase and also you have to change the water every day . And also check the stalks or stems everyday if they develop any change in its orijinal colour you have to cutoffagain upto half inch as I told before. This keeps your flowers last longtime. you can press the flowers by keeping them between the pages of a book ,but you have to change the flower every day from that page to another. However it takes much time if you want to do it quickly you can press it by keeping hot iron box of it but not directly but you have to put between the two pages and then iron it without much heat.
Q: The gym that I go to does not have any barbells (health and safety gone mad) for doing bench presses. But... they do have a chest press machine which is essentially the same as a bench press but you are sat up-right instead of lying down.Am I working the exact same muscle groups by doing a chest press, obviously I know it's working the pectorals and the triceps as a secondary muscle group so it is basically the same? Is either one better than the other? My other option if a chest press is not as good as a bench press, is to do a bench press in the gym just with 2 dumbbells as appose to a bar bell. Please give your thoughts...Thanks!
The Bench Press is better, that's why you hear a lot more about it on the internet and in the gym.
Q: Help! I've been stuck benching 140lbs for a good 1 month. I try overloading but it has not worked because I would just get tired. I'm 15 years old, 5'3 and weigh 105lbs. Is it because of my weight? My height? Or is it because I have adapted to bench pressing that it has no effect on me? I have mostly been working on my Fast Twitching Muscle Fibers. Maybe this is the cause of my plateau.I'm willing to switch to endurance exercises to improve my Slow Twitching Muscle Fibers but I'm not sure if this will help me break my plateau.Any advice will be appreciated.
Hitting a sticking point on your bench press typically has nothing to do with your chest muscles. The supporting muscles of the shoulders are weak, causing your body to stop muscle growth of your pectorals(major and minor) to avoid injury. Another common reason for a plateau is an imbalance. I assume you use a bar for your bench press. The disadvantage to this is your strong arm(typically your right arm) can lift a greater percentage of the total weight. This naturally causes one side to become stronger and the body, again, will shut down chest growth. I recommend using dumbells for your chest routine this will avoid the imbalance and additionally will hit stabilizer muscles in the shoulder. Now, let's work on those shoulders. The front head(like it says the muscle in front) of your shoulder connects to your pectorals. Strenghtening this muscle will get you over this sticking point. I recommend front shoulder raises, overhead press(with dumbells, you should know why now), and side raises. These exercises with strenghten those weak muscles and you'll get past this plateau in no time. Hope this helps, feel free to email me with any other questions. I enjoy answering questions in my field of research. Chris M.S.,C.S.C.S.
