- Get a container of dry carpet cleaning granules. Resolve, Capture and Chem-Dry all make them and they do not damage the fiber, will brighten the rugs and take care of any spotting or dirt. I use them on all of my areas rugs from silk to wool, antique to new to keep them looking clean. You simply sprinkle the granules on the rug, agitate with a soft brush where there is traffic dirt or stains, let the granules dry and then vacuum off the dust remaining. All of them have and leave a fresh clean scent, too.

Rug Doctor machines have about one tenth the vacuum power found in a typical truck mount machine, this is important when it comes to extraction. The truck mount will also provide super hot softened and citric acid treated water to the carpet. Something you can not do with a do it your self machine. Rug Doctor soap also is treated with a optical brightener, an additive not used by a professional cleaner. It is there to fool you into thinking the carpet is cleaner than it actually is. Clean your carpets on a regular basis, it probably should be done 2 or 3 times a year. Deduct the costs as a business expense.

- Q:Ok so my toilet over flowed over night, which caused some water to go onto my living room rug(Clean Water). Its not too bad but bad enough that it needs to be cleaned. It dried up but now it seems to have white patch's on the rug? I really hope its not mold... but I just want to know does anyone know how I can clean this? Any special cleaning products??? - If this rug is a machine-washable rug, just wash it in your machine. Then dry it in your dryer, but don't over-dry it. If the rug isn't machine-washable, take the rug to a Dry Cleaner. They should be able to clean it for you. Now if were talking about wall-to-wall carpeting, your best bet is to have the carpet professionally cleaned. Professionals not only can clean the carpet, they can add special deodorizers so that mold doesn't end up growing in the carpet. Cleaning just one room should cost that much. - If you really like the rug and want to be sure you don't ruin it in the machine, you could wash it in the bathtub or outside using a hose and your favorite brand of rug cleaner. Either way would be a bit messy, but your rug would not get torn up by a machine.
