Two easy tests: rubb the rug with the palm of you hand, if it feels warm it may be silk. cool its cotton or rayon. One of the best tests is the burn test. Pull a piece of the yarn from the face. Just one will never be missed. Burn it, smells like burning hair, silk. smells like plastic, rayon. Smells like cloth, cotton. Also real silk is very, very strong. Cotton and rayon are must weaker.

- I was unable to open the links but I have seen this done on home decor shows before. If the bottom rug is much larger than the top one, it can look perfectly fine. People do this a lot to cover stains on wall to wall carpet when they can't afford to replace it. Buy the fur rug if you like it, if it doesn't work on the blue rug, put it elsewhere or return it. You have to follow your gut on this one.

- Q: I just bought two six week old puppies today; one for me and one for my boyfriend. we both love them to death but the thing is, I have a rug in my living room everytime we put them on the floor, they poop or pee on it. I guess the reason why is because its brown have pieces that come up as if its grass. the poop is real hard to clean out of it. - Q: my cat claws and tears a section of my carpet in my apartment. I would like answers from someone who really HAS the experience on cutting out the piece, replacing, sowing, etc. Can anyone help?
- using a sharp carpet knife or razor knife you can cut out the old smelly carpet, but make sure that the new peice is cut exactly the same. You need to make sure that the carpet runs the exact same way or you will notice it. To see the difference take a peice of carpet and lay it next to your other carpet and see if it is noticeable. if so you have it running the opposite way. turn it and see if it runs the same way. then you need some carpet tape that you need use carpet iron with to seem the carpets together. If your not experienced in carpet laying I would suggest you get a carpet professional to lay the new peice in so that you won't be able to tell. or for a quick fix, you can buy carpet neutralizer for the urine smell but you would have to peel the carpet up and the padding and treat the sub floor with it and the padding and the carpet. It will neurtalize the urine and stop the smell.

- i don't believe there is a solvent for crazy glue. you may try ice to freeze it then clip at it with fingernail clippers so as to not take out to much at a time. good luck

- If there is a setting on your vacuum for shag put it on that setting. Generally vacuum's are set to short as most carpets and rugs are not shaggy.. You may also pay for, and rent an actual rug cleaner from Stanley Steamers or some similar company..
