Q: whats the difference between the two? i've done latch hooking but im wondering if rug hooking is the same thing or close?
2 differences, first you don't get precut yarn with rug hooking, you use a skein or ball of yarn, starting from the back with your hook on the top, pull the yarn through, making a continuous line. 2nd the hook in rug hooking does not have the latch over the hooky part. I did quite a few latch hook projects and tons of fun. I just recently learned rug hooking while on vacation. At first it is a little harder, getting a even tension and so that the pile of yarn on the top is all even and not splitting the yarn. What I like better about rug hooking is not dealing with all those precut pieces of yarn. Experience: beginning hooker er um rug hooker
Q: does anyone know how to get the smell of urine out of carpet, ive trieed ferbreeze but its not doing it, any suggestions...
Use Nature's Miracle, it contains enzymes that break down that ammonia smell. Buy it in a pet store. Don't buy anything else, many copy cat products but only this stuff works. Not cheap but worth it.
Q: I have a rug that my sister gave me as a gift. The colors are perfect for my home and it's the perfect size for where I need it. But there's a problem - it's in a high traffic area (landing on the stairs) and it won't stay put. It creases in the center and gets pushed up against the wall as the traffic goes by - causes safety hazard because now we're tripping all over it, and i'm getting so tired of bending down to straighten it. I know it probably wasn't an expensive rug, but I would hate to throw it out. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it to stay on the carpet? I was thinking about gluing some thing on the bottom corners to weight it down.... maybe that's a crazy idea. I was also thinking maybe there's a way to attach it to the carpet, like a safety pin.... probably crazy too because then i'd just end up with holes in my carpet. Maybe someone more creative has an idea or knows of a cost effecient product that could help me.
The sell thing called rug pads. They extend the life of your rug and protect your floors . They also help keep your rugs safely in place. They sell them at wal-mart and target or other stores like that, They just look like a peace of fabric and you put your area rug on top of it. They work good.
Q: I have a espresso colored round table (i think its about 4' or 5' diameter) and it also incleds a leaf to extend the table into an oval shape. I am trying to decide what kind of rug i should get for underneath the table (there is ceramic tile in this area). Its going into the formal living and dining room in the house which is the first you room you enter when you come into the house. The entire room is about 13' wide by 22' long. There will also be a buffet by the table taking off about 2' or so from the width. This is what i was thinking1. getting a big square rug (about 8x8)2. getting a rectangle rug (either 5'x8' or 8'x11')Let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks for your input!

Q: my mom wants to get a big but not too big or expense dragon rug. Where can she get it online? That really looks like a dragon? every time my mom searches for dragons rug on the computer she gets weird and not dragon rugs or even close to it. We live in a small town so the stores around here do not any dragon anythings. sO where can she find one that is worth the prices and the right size and looks like a real dragon and not a blob?
Why not design and create it yourself. Rug hooking is simple enough, and their are sites that can give you other ideas for making rugs.
Q: Hi guysI'm moving to a new house and I want to replace the old carpet. But I'm stuck between carpet and laminate/hardwood.I thought carpet is warmer in winter but keep the carpet clean is a tough thing.can you plz give me some ideashave anyone had a carpet? Thanks for you time and help :)
Depends where you want to put the carpet and wood. Actually flooring is all the same temp its just that carpet does feel warmer. Thats why well placed area rugs work out so well on wood. If this house is a long term investment, go hardwood. Properly maintained, it ll last a lifetime. As far as pricing goes, 0n the average ,carpet is overall cheaper than hardwood. But hardwood will outlast carpet when taken care .. If this is a shorter term investment, a good laminate may work out for you.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: I my daughter and I have three cats. 1 male 2 females. One or more are using the area rugs as a bathroom. We have added another litter box. Washed all the rugs with oxy clean for cats. I have told my other daughter not to bring her german shepard over anymore. I am trying to play with them more. Can anyone help me.
Well, the reason why the cats use the rug for bathroom is because of the smell. What you can try to do is to restrict the cats to certain areas at the house to keep the cats out where the rugs are.
Q: What size rug should I get?
That depends on what else you have in there and how much of the tile flooring you want to cover. If you want to completely cover the room with the rug, get a 16x16. If you want to see some of the tile, get something more like a 14x14 to 12x12 (depending on whether you want a 1-foot tile border or 2-foot). But, let's say you have a basic set-up with a sofa against one wall and a coffee table in front of it, and an entertainment center against the opposite wall. And, you want the rug for accent, not necessarily to cover up the tile. The area rug would start just about at the front edge of the sofa, maybe a few inches away from it. It sould be centered side to side with the sofa, and come out far enough to extend a couple feet beyond the coffee table. In this case, you would be looking at somewhere between a 5x8 to a 6x9 area rug, with the coffee table pretty much centered over the rug. These are pretty standard sizes, because that's generally how people use them as an accent.
Q: does anyone know of a home remedy to get rid of carpet stains? Please help! Thank u!!
Good old hydrogen peroxide. Works on all carpet stains.
Q: My male cat just recovered from a urinary tract infection. He urinated on my beautiful fairly new woven rug for the very first time (he ALWAYS goes in his litter box); that's how we knew he had an infection. Ever since that one little offense, he decided that the rug is his and he drags it around my house. I sprayed and cleaned his tinkle off of it immediately right after the offense, why is he doing this? I put the rug back but over and over he drags it to other rooms. How can I claim my rug back?
Wow - I've never heard of a rug-stealing kitty. You should video tape it and put it on u-tube. But that aside, I'm not sure what to tell you to try. The only thing that may work is to spray the rug with some Bitter Apple spray and that should stop him from chewing on it and picking it up.
