Q: my check engine light came on so i went to auto zone they hooked up the computer to my car and it said control system leak detected and probable cause could be evap purge solenoid faulty-or canister vent solenoid faulty---blocked vapor canister---faulty vapor canister---faulty evap preasure sensor---loose or defective fuel cap--- it listed all these can this cause it not to pass emisions what should i focus on can it be evrything just bought the 2002 jeep grand cherokee at auction as is please help i have to get it to pass im nervous can this mess the motor up help im a female thank u very much: you are responsible for the smog you bought it as-is, and most auto zone places will not erase the codes at least in Arizona its against state law. also like others have said start with the lowest cost part, emission controls on vehicles can be costly this is probably why the vehicle was in an auction to begin with.

Q: My husband got an 01 s10 4.3 automatic. The check engine light is on and we took it to auto zone, and they said it‘s the secondary air injection system fault. Does anyone know what this could be? Q: i've done a complete tune up wires plugs cap rotor oil change also replaced distributor with one from a toyota changed the tranny fluid and filter i haven't done the o2 sensor yet but was wondering if it came on for other reasons .now i can reset the COMPUTER and after driving 125 miles then the light comes back on .any advice would be very appreciated: Agree with the first person about bringing the car to Auto Zone, but we will not erase the code. It's against the law for us to do that and we can get fined. Since it's still an OBD I system, simply disconnect the battery for a few minutes, that will clear the computer.

Q: I just purchased a 2007 BMW 335i and was wondering how this may be done. I know I can turn them on by turning on my parking brakes. Also, I can run daytime running lamp bulbs but those look kind of ugly. I just want to have my coronas turn on when my light switch is turned to automatic. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.: The coronas, normally called angel eyes, ARE the DRLs. They come on whenever the parking lights (not parking brakes) are on. They can also come on independently if you have it set up in either i-Drive, or if you don't have navigation then by using your instrument cluster menu system. It's all in the owners manual. Placing the headlight switch into the auto position will turn on the headlights if it's dark enough or if it's raining, which then turns on the angel eyes since the parking lights come on too. If you have DRL turned on as mentioned above, they would be on all the time and then the headlights would come on once it got dark outside. The parking lights are the orange ones on the very outside of the headlight assembly. If you have DRL enabled in whatever menu system you have, they are on all the time regardless of the headlight switch position. The angel eyes are run by a single bulb for each side of the car, a 35 watt H8 to be specific. The inner headlights (what used to be high beams) are the cornering lights and are operated by a 55 watt H3 bulb. These come on individually when turning if the headlight switch is in auto (and it's dark). They also both come on when backing up if in auto. The outside lights are the high and low beam lights, and should be a D1S bulb assuming you have xenon lights. These lights also pivot when turning if switch is in auto (and it's dark).

Q: Please Read Everything Below.I got a car back in October it is a 2002 Chevy Malibu and it was cold out so I haven‘t used the A/C until yesterday. I drove with my windows down to my destination so A/C was off and my car was in the sun outside in 80 degree weather for two hours then when left I turned the A/C on for the first time and it was emitting room temp air the whole half hour drive so I figured it might need a recharge or maybe it is leaking. Today I left and turned to A/C on and it seemed to be working a little bit better (50 degrees out) so I turned it on high after a couple minutes and the check engine light came on. I was just wondering if it could be a problem with the A/C that is causing it. Also if so can having low freon or whatever the refridgerant cause it or would it be more serious like a leak.Thanks in Advance. Q: I had the engine exhaust light come on after a sensor was replaced in the gas tank for the fuel gage. I was told by the dealer that the light comes on when it senses a leak. However, after doing a smoke test they couldn‘t find one. They told me that they turned the light off and now I am worried that they did not put the gas tank back properly. The car was purchased approximately 2 months ago and I don‘t know if I should be worried or not. Any advice based on experience is greatly appreciated.: Sounds like the dealer did finish the job properly. However, to be sure, take the car to a second auto-workshop and have the exhausted system thoroughly inspected (Should be low cost). If you find any faults, take the car back to dealership and demand proper repair. Good luck.

Q: just replaced the mass air sensor and i cant get the check engine light off. any suggestions?: If your car is running good you can undo the battery for a few hours it should reset the sensor. Some of these lights are programmed by the auto engineers to get you back to the shop. If you have no other problems with the vehicle try re-setting the electronics by safely disconnecting the battery at the negative terminal, wait a few hours in case there is a back up memory for short outages, and see if the light stays off. You'll have to reset your clock, and presets, but the light may go off and stay off with no adverse affect to your vehicle.
