Q: Hi, The front bumper on the Left side was loose so i Used some Cable Ties to tightened it, after tightening the Bumper, i realised the Airbag Light came on... Please assist me, i saw a wire neat the left corner of the bumper but i havent touched it... secondly, My Driver Seat seatbelt light does Not WORk even thou im driving without the seatbelt. .. there was no AIRbag light when i was driving with the bumper loose.2002 BMW E46119000kmFaceLIft318i StepTronic: Depending on what instrument cluster you have, you may have an airbag light AND a seat belt light. They're two different parts of the passenger restraint system. If you have an SRS light and a seat belt light, those are two different indicators. If the SRS light is illuminated, it's a problem either with one of the sensors, air bag, or air bag deployment unit. This can be dangerous because this means that the air bag may not deploy in an accident or it may deploy randomly while you're driving. Now if the seat belt light is on, it means that the passenger restraint system is malfunctioning either on one or more seats. It means that either the seal belts will not tighten or are not engaged fully/correctly. About the faulty light, the seat belt light may not mean the seat belt is undone. It may just be an indicator for the passenger restraint system. I drive a Mercedes-Benz C-Class and it has two lights regarding this, one for SRS and another for passenger restraint (seat belts). The seat belt light will turn off if there aren't any problems with the restraint system, regardless if I have my seat belt on or not. Regarding your bumper, there are sensors in the bumper for the air bag system. If any of the sensors got disconnected or damaged while you tightened the bumper, it will cause the SRS light to illuminate.

Q: The headlights now shut off and on, off and on. The car is running ok, but the remote starter will no longer work. The installer was at ABC warehouse in Mount Pleasant Michigan and they talked me into buying a better remote starter b/c the cheapest one would not allow my doors to unlock while the starter was running? I paid 400 $ for this piece of junk. Any ideas one why my lights interior and exterior will turn on and off as they feel like it? Brake lights and turn signals too!: My best guess is it's from poor installation. Sounds like there's a short somewhere that's causing the light relay to shut off. The headlight relay cuts power when there's too much draw on the system, then when the relay cools down, the lights come back on. A continuous short will cause the light to go off and come back on on a steady basis, a temporary short will cause it only when there's a short, so it could do it at times, then stop for a while. This is generally caused by a positive wire to the headlights being grounded against metal somewhere. They likely either hooked up to a wrong wire, or pinched or pierced a wire when installing the system. Take it back to the installer and tell them what's going on, since it happened right after they installed the system, it's almost certainly their fault and their responsibility to fix it. Could be something with the system itself, too, but either way, it's their problem and they need to fix it.

Q: 96 Geo Tracker failed test cause of EGR flow.Had EGR Bypass and EGR control valve replaced.After driving car for a week engine light came on.Tested again and failed again cause of EGR flow.Had o2 sensor replaced. Drove for a few days,engine light came on again. Tested again and failed, again for EGR flow and now system too lean.Dealership can‘t find the problem,but recommended I have fuel injector service,engine decarbonization,and new hoses they didn‘t specify which ones.I‘ve spent over a grand trying to fix and I don‘t want to give the dealer any more money because they haven‘t been able to fix it.Trying to qualify for a waiver from the Illinois emissions but they won‘t give it to me unless the engine light is off,it doesn‘t matter if the car fails. What should I do?Can I perform the engine decarbonization and injector service myself, and if so how?and will that even make a difference?Is there a way to turn off the engine light without disconnectin battery to get qualify 4 waiver?: Yes, an exhaust leak can cause problems like this. So try fixing the exhaust from the head to the muffler. You see one gaping hole, there could be others. Considering that this is one of the few cars that you can find new cast exhaust manifolds for that are aftermarket, it would not be surprising if you need one. The gasket/s I suspect are in the exhaust system and not internal the engine.

Q: I‘ve noticed in the last few days that my gears seem to be slipping. Not just one gear, but all of them. Sometimes they won‘t engage at all, and sometimes, I can get the car moving, and the transmission will slip out of gear while shifting to any further gears. It is an automatic transmission. Yesterday, I decided to go in and get my transmission flushed, but while I was driving in, the warning light came on saying there was a problem with the emissions system. I know in previous vehicles that my catalytic converter choked the engine when I needed to replace it, but I never seemed to have problems driving the vehicle. Any gear-heads out there that might be able to help me out?: modern auto trannys r controlled by computer.bad battery bad bat connection can fool computer into acting crazy. emission lite can be from bad spark plug/wire ,,oxygen sensor.all can effect tranny.that said.did the flush help?. i dont like flushes because they stir up crap in side and dont change the filter slipping sounds bad. iv had trannys go bad in 100,000 miles even changing fluid/filter at 40,000 and 75,000 miles.good luck

Q: I removed the instrument panel on my car to change the lights. I realized that I needed a part so I drove the car, without the instrument panel, to the store (I used a GPS as a speedometer). When I hooked it all back up the air bag light blinks a few times, then goes solid. I have checked to make sure there were no loose wires or connectors near the steering wheel or instrument panel. Would the light stay on because the instrument panel was missing? How can I fix this? The auto parts stores in the area do not have computer scanners that can read the airbag codes.: Jay is right, there's no way of knowing this one without a hands on inspection, could be something as simple as a line leaking fluid, or as serious as a catastrophic internal parts failure. Get it towed to your favorite shop, and see what they say. My condolences for your loss.

Q: In addition when I first start it the idle is sometime too high and lowers after running for a few minutes. And sometimes it cuts off while I‘m driving either idle or accelerating. I start it back up and it runs. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY BABY?: There is no sensor for the radiator on this vehicle that turns the check engine light on. You do have a coolant level sensor but that turns on a separate light. It also does not have a Carburetor. Auto zone will not be able to scan your vehicle as it is a OBD 1 system and they only do ODB 2 systems. This vehicle is fuel injected and a 93 Buick could have a 3.1L or a 3.8L engine. You need to take the vehicle in to a repair facility to have them scan the vehicle or if you are not mechanically challenged you can buy a jumper tool and scan it your self. the tool will come with directions on how to jump the ALDL connector under the dash. Them you will need a book on your make model and year as GM codes are different for year and models made before 1996. After 1996 all codes and ALDL connectors are the same for each make and model. Getting the code still means you have to run the flow chart and do the repair. Just because you get a code you don't just replace the part. You need to confirm it is defective and not just working wrong because of some other component.

Q: I have a 2001 chrysler town and country mini van. My engine light came on when I had a 1/2 a tank of gas. I took it to a parts store to have them find out why the engine light came on. They said I had a small gas leak that could be from the gas cap not being tight enough. They turned off my engine light with their hand held machine. I tightened the gas cap and drove till I needed to fill up with gas and then the light came back on when it got to the 1/2 way mark again. What could be causing this problem? I made sure after I filled up again that I tightened the gas cap! This did not seem to help.: You're probably looking at a tranny rebuild, dont waste money on additives, the damage is already done.

Q: I have a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 3.6l v6. I‘ve had it for about 14 months now, and these past few weeks my light‘s come on for the Check ABS System and Check Traction Control. The brakes seem fine, no grinding, no noises. I heard somewhere that that type of car is notorious for the check abs system glitch. Does anyone think they know what it is, or have had a similar problem? I don‘t want to get taken advantage of if I have to take this into a mechanic.: there was a Pimp my ride episode where this one guy got and engine sound emitter. It's a device that changes the sound the engine of any type of car, I think the guys car was a ford focus or something, and he made his engine sound like a Ferrari Enzo. find that episode and listen to what they say what its called

Q: in my 1994 mitsubishi expo when the brake is not on.then after awhile it shuts off.the guy at firestone said the brake fluid was dirty and a little low, but he couldn‘t just change it or add more in , he would have to check for a leak in the system first , and that would cost about $600.but when he dipped his finger in it and I drove away, it shut off.It did this again today and after warmed up , it shut itself off: Air in the system will not make the pedal stiff, quite the opposite, it would make it fairly light and also ineffective unless you pumped it, your problem could be in the thrust bearing or perhaps pedal pivot, but that's doubtful.
