Q: had Auto Zone analyze. Was told throttle position sensor circuit low input was the problem. They (Auto Zone) reset the circuit. Engine light is now off. Through it all, Jeep is running fine. What‘s up with all this??Jay: I'd say the most common reason is exhaust, but it could be almost anything. That is a catchall light that will come on if the computer detects some sort of problem. Take the car to a local parts store - most (like autozone) will scan your code for free and tell you what part you need.

Q: 3.4 and with in 2 months the cat coverter was replaced twice. Then the o2 sen replaced then things fine for day then engine light was back on. took car back in the tested and keeps bringing back to cat converter. So what else can I be looking to check?: You dont make it come back. The check engine light comes on when a sensor notices a problem. If the problem is not there, the system will NOT triger a check engine light. Another words, if the light is out, let it be. When the light comes on again, you can trace the cause of the problem then.

Q: Okay so my friends car (1995 Q45 infinity) is really messing up. First the radio lights would shut off then turn back on, both speakers would only work from time to time, driver side window wont roll down, now the passenger side window is going, the car alarm system now randomly goes off when you try to open the door, and now when you go to turn the car off, the inside door lights stay on. A car that was involved in flooding, and the water has corrupted the electrical relay panel. Typically auto panels are jam-packed with circuitry. It will take a lot of work to get it back into shape yourself, and that means a lot of $$$ to have a shop fix it.

Q: Ok so today i go to work. Clock in, work, clock out. Sure enough when i walk out, what do i see. I see my lights are on and very dim. I know immediately what happened. So just to try. I try to start it. It doesnt make a noise. So i go inside and find my friend who just got off work as well. We try and jump it. It turns over as usual but it wont fire. Then my dad gets there and we get it to fire. Turns out i had to give the gas pedal a little pump. So it runs, but the engine light stays on. I figure its because my battery is super close to dead, completely dead. However, my jeep wont idle. If i let off the gas completely the rpms just go down until it dies. So that makes me think, maybe the engine light is on for something other than the battery. Before work it was fine, absolutely nothing wrong. I got it home, after it dying once on the way home. So whats wrong. Is it the battery. Or is it something thats gonna cost me an arm and leg to fix? I certainly hope not. Thanks.: Start off with the simplest thing, charge the battery and see what happens. If the battery won't take a charge then you know the problem. If a battery is on the old side leaving the lights on could deep discharge it enough to kill a cell or two. If it won't take a charge then you need a new battery. If it does take a charge put it back in the Jeep and after you start it check the voltage of the charging system with a voltmeter. If you don't have access to a voltmeter go to an Advance Auto Parts or CarQuest and see if they can check your charging system. Some parts places will do it for free. If you don't have a battery charger try to borrow a battery from another vehicle (one you know that is charged) and see what happens when you run the Jeep with the other battery.

Q: This only happens when I drive for long periods of time.: ETS is an electronic traction control system that retards engine performance to help control wheel slippage. When there is an engine dtc or trouble code the pcm disables the ETS system. Take it to your gm dealer and have it diag. My just be an engine related concern.

Q: what alternatives is there to auto air conditioning, that i can plug a system into my cigarette lighter?: If your air conditoner is bad then plugging up a fan into your cigarette lighter slot isnt going to do anything but just blow hot air into your face if its extremely hot It might help a little if its just a warm temp

Q: I have a 1996 Mazda Millennium that the battery would always go dead on me if it sat for a couple of days. Had battery checked and charged, and it checked good. So i changed the alternator and the light is still on. What do you think is wrong?: Check the Red Wire from the Alternator for the Fusable Link being bad, also Grounds at Starter to Block, Alternator to Block Block Strap to Firewall. Are your belts and Tensioner good?

Q: 2002 Honda Civic sedan with 94,300 miles. Never any maintenance done except oil changes. All original parts except for tires and battery. I had an auto parts store check the code. It was P1457 which indicates there is a leak in the evaporative emission control system in the control canister. The man that checked the code deleted it and the light has not come back on. Should I still have it checked?: not unless light comes back on sometimes codes come up in error you may not have a vac leak maybe had pressure change that went right back to normal but OBD detected it and on came the light
