Q: My check engine light is flashing when i accelerate on my 1989 ford bronco. it doesn't flash with coasting or just idling. Only when i am accelterating. Auto Zone cant read it because it is a soft code. How do i find out why it is flashing?
You can do all this for free if you know how to work the system and by that I mean Walmart. The system is Walmart. Go to your local walmart and pick up an onboard diagnostics system. Hopefully you have a 97 or newer vehicle. Look for the O.B.D. II package that says it will turn off your check engine light. It works because I have tried it myself. You don't turn the car on though (just read the instructions). Once you complete all the instructions it will make the light turn off. This doesn't mean that it fixed the problems or that the light will never turn back on again. Just drive for about 15 minutes and the light should come back on. That should give you a fresh start. Now turn the car off and plug in the O.B.D. II in again. Now you can proceed to write down the codes and look them up in the book provided. Once you have all your codes and have written down what each code means on a piece of paper, you can go back into Walmart and go to the refunds section. Tell them the equipment you bought doesn't plug into your car's onboard computer because its the wrong model. They will give you your money back and thats how you do all this for free.
Q: The engine need service soon light was on in my vehicle last week. I suspected it was the bad fuel I put in since it turned on immediately after I pumped at Costco. I was busy and did not have a chance to go to my auto shop. Yesterday, I found the warning light was gone. It contradicts my general understanding that once the light is on, you need a device to turn it off. Will it be something like if you wait long enough, the bad thing will go away by itself?
It sounds like you may very well have had gotten bad gas. Water in gas will reek havoc on an engine and it's sensors. You probably have a car made after 1996, in which it has a OBD2 computer system. You computer will run tests everytime to turn the key on, and if a test fails it will turn the light on. This is what Technicians call a soft code. If the test passes the 2nd or 3rd time run the computer will clear it itself. If the test fails three times in a row, then the code is stored into hard memory in which is called hard code and must be cleared manually. If you light continues to come on, I would have it checked for a possible contaminated oxygen sensor or a clogged fuel injector!
Q: ok i recently auto adjusted my monitor, what exactly does "auto adjust" do ? , like does it automatically choose a brightness/ contrast that relates to my monitor, or does it just do whatever it wants kinda thing. cause i dont really understand what auto adjust does to a monitor. also whats the best highness of brightness and contrast to have on a lcd monitor?. and i was wondering if changing your monitor settings effects my picture qualitys and coloring or if its justt the way it looks cause of my monitor, or did it change my pictures too.
Dear Kayla. The auto-adjust option on the LCD monitor will load some pre-configured setting put into the system in the factory. These are set believing you have good eyesight, good lighting in the room and are not colorblind. It also sets the monitor up to run at the fastest recommended refresh rate. You should set the brightness/contrast to what feels comfortable to you without having the monitor lit up too high. The only thing that damages a monitor very fast is 'over-driving' brightness controls. So the lower the brightness the better for both of you. Just bring up the brightness until you are comfortable and adjust the color/contrast settings to get the best match to a picture you have both in the computer and printed on hand. Try to adjust the monitor controls until the picture tones get very close to each other. Very few monitors can do this without being 'over-driven' so be careful to set any control to full or null applications.
Q: Would it be a fuse and if it is does it mess the airbag up if u pull the fuse?
best thing to do is i would take it up to an autozone they will hook up the computer to find out why the light is on and they do it for free. Other places i know will charge $50 and up. After you find out why your airbag light is on go from there. If its just a simple fuse problem that is something you could take care of. but if they need to re-set something in the computer they might be able to do that but if that atleast you know what needs to be done and take it to a shop to have it done. With you knowing why the light is on and what they need to fix it that should avoid having to have the shop hook it up to their diagnostic computer and charge you for that.
Q: It is a 3.0l OHV flex-fuel vehicle. The dealership says its a fouled up injector but they wont show a printout of the computer reading so i cant be for sure. If there is anybody who has same problem or knows the answer I would really appreciate it!
if the light only comes on when you use the e85, that tells me that the sensor that determines the fuel type is at fault or the system tied to it. go to auto zone and ask them to scan for codes, they will do it more that likely and with a greater service than the dealer.
Q: How to deal with car headlamps
Relatively light the water inside the lamp situation, no need to worry too much, the lights in the open for some time, the fog will be with the heat through the vent tube out of the lamp, which will not damage the headlamps and electrical circuits.
Q: My 4x4 light blinks when I try to switch from 2x4 into 4x4. I have replaced the 4x4 motor on the transfer case, and a new selector switch. Not really sure if anything is making any noise under the truck. Sometimes the 4x4 will go and the light quits blinking. I do not mind spending some money on this truck as it is my all year long truck. Gotta plow snow and if I cannot get the 4x4 to work properly, I am not making any money. Any suggestions, thoughts, or comments would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I do have the push button 4x4. Also, I can sometimes hear a box behind the dash on the drivers side clicking when I push one of the 4x4 switches. It looks like a silver box, maybe 8in wide by 8in long. I do know that the selector switch wires run from it, and other wires ( I assume ) power wires run to it. Thank you again.
First the blinking light means it has not engaged the front axle yet. When it stays on your in four wheel drive. You may have known that I just needed to say it though. You say it works sometime so we can take it that the problem is not in the mechanics of the unit. I'm thinking it a operator problem or maybe I should say a drivers misunderstanding of what happens when you put it in 4X4. Let me try to explain. The electric motor you replaced tries to engage gears that turn both the front and rear drive shafts. If your front wheels are turned or you are sitting still the gears may not mesh and the motor gets overloaded and what I think you hear clicking is a circuit breaker disconnecting the motor current cooling down and then completing the circuit again. Before you put it in 4X4 make sure your wheels are straight, put the trans in neutral then flip the switch. Back up a few feet and go forward again that will help the gears mesh and you should see the 4X4 stop flashing.
Q: i installed my Plug-And-Play H.I.D. lights today, and i found that the lights only work when i use my Flash To Pass triggerthat is completely unexpected.i do not understand why they won‘t work with my normal lights!they are not 2 bulbs together, it is only 1 bulb and 1 ballast per side, they won‘t even work when i have my High Beams on!!they only work when i hold the Flash To Pass lever!!i don‘t understand at all why it won‘t work!!does it have anything to do with my 2001 Grand Marquis having a Auto Lamp System?help please!!the lights are 9007 kind
that car has a lighting control module seperate from the eec-v computer. You don't turn the lights on, you ask the car to turn it on, and if something isnt right, it will say no. Someone who has knowledge of the lighting control module could help you.
Q: what does it mean when your check engine light comes on?
Probably an O2 sensor. Get her checked soon.
