- Gas tanks don't normally make noise HOWEVER if it is there's a good chance the tank is loose. PARK THE CAR. Don't take any chances with weird noises. As for the auto light not working that could be several problems depending on what light you speak of. Best to take it to a professional and get the vehicle assessed.

- The most important thing when saving money is having a goal, you have one already. Next you will need a job. It doesn't matter really what job you get. At age 16 you won't be earning much. What is crucial, however, is your discipline. It is very easy to spend money on crap you don't need. If you have someone you trust, you can have them hold a substantial amount of your paycheck every month. Or get a CD, or money market account from your bank. - Q: I was looking into buying this 91 sonoma with the TBI 4.3 engine. I had it running for about 5 minutes while I was inspecting everything, and then the service light came on. So I checked for codes and got none. Turned the car back on, light came back on a couple minutes later. Gauges read fine, no leaks, idle, or acceleration problems. I have the same problem with my 92 except it does have a problem every now and then. What could this be on this truck?
- How did you check the codes? Did you do it the voodoo way, or use an actual code reader? For years I've used the voodoo way. There are multiple ways to do this, and it depends upon the car. For example, in my town and country, I have to push and hold the two trip buttons on the dash while turning the key to accessory, and after five seconds let go. Then it shows me the codes where the mileage should be. With other cars, the check engine light can blink out in morse code, etc. The trouble is, this isn't a sure-fire way to get all codes. Some codes can't be expressed this way, depending. A month ago my check engine light came on, and the voodoo method of checking codes didn't work - it said there were no codes. So I had to borrow a code reader from a friend. Sure enough, it was an oxygen sensor gripe. Most auto parts stores will check your codes for free. Good luck!
- Q: Thanks for answering so soon.Almost every year I have been going to the Toyota dealer with this problem. They mention different codes while none of my mechanics cannot find anything wrong in the systems and the car runs fine. I have spend money on diagnostics and replacement of parts to then few months later have the light on again.Are they tampering? Is there something wrong that has not been fixed? One of my mechanics said it could be anything small, such as a leak, or something loose. He says he cannot find it. The Toyota people obviously neither.Any idea?
- Probably a bad sensor that works most of the time then acts up again after a while. O2 sensor Bad fuel or cheap fuel. Loose connection or frayed wires.

- Q: The check engine light has been on constantly since I bought the car, and I have been told by more than one person that it‘s just due to a catalytic converter sensor so I left it alone. Recently, I‘ve started getting low on oil, probably because my miles are so high (178K) and I‘m burning it, so I put oil in about once a week. - A blinking check engine light is a severe warning that something is wrong with the emissions system or engine! More then likely the issue is with the catalytic converter itself. There are two oxygen sensors in your exhaust system. One is directly behind the catalytic converter and the other is between the exhaust manifold and converter. No matter where you bought the car you must have at least a 30 day warranty. The sellers are required to make any and all maintenance and repairs to the car within this period! Please go after the sellers like as mad dog to make through and proper repairs to the emissions system or engine during your warranty period! A catalytic converter is very expensive. You don't need the hassle of paying out of pocket for one.
