Q: I want to put LED lights under my passenger and driver side foot area? How would I install the lightings?
There are a few different approaches you can use to acheive the desired effect. I've added custom lighting similar to what you're looking for to many of our restoration projects. I would begin by removing the front seats. 4 bolts and a little manuvering to get them out is worth the time saved trying to work around them. Next you'll need to find a suitable mounting location under the dash. Be very watchful of what you're considering running a screw into. In many vehicles the ducting is accessible under the dash. A hole here will cause the system to leak and due to expansion/contraction will eventually cause the LED light fixture to fall out. As far as getting power to the fixtures find your fuse box and install a new line. Most boxes will have 1 or 2 empty slots that you can use for accessories. If you don't have experience running a new line from a fuse box you can purchase a stacked connector at any auto parts store. This will allow you to pick a currently active fuse (radio for example) and piggyback off it's power source. This will also ensure the light fixtures only receive power with the ignition on. Custom lighting is just thatbe creative. A slow and steady approach is much better than haphazardly mounting crap under the dash and duct taping wires. Take your time, read the LED light manufacturers recommended voltage/amp levels and get to work. Hope this helps!
Q: Ok, this morning the MIL light just came on. Yesterday I noticed that the air conditioner kept switching between economy and the button that looks like it has a curved arrow on it (just above the economy button, the one that is on when the AC is COLD), but didn‘t think anything of it. Well, after I noticed the light I started to check the car. I left it to idle, and noticed that the cooling system reservoir tank was boiling water. It was odd, because I looked at the gages in the car and neither the oil or water thermostats showed the temperature above normal. I‘m thinking maybe an issue with the thermostat, but I don‘t know what to think about the air going back and fourth between those two cycles. The air that came out in economy was REALLY hot, so it made me think a sensor was kicking the ac off for some reason. I‘m not a car person, and would love some advice. I‘m already looking into getting the car hooked up to one of those diagnostic tools. Thanks! :)
Go to an auto parts store and plug in the code reader. The AC has an auto shut off when the engine overheats. First thing put a few gallons of distilled water in the car in case you need it. When the engine is cold refill the water. I would guess you have a water leak or the water pump is bad, the water boils and overflows. Be careful, you could blow your engine. Check the oil for any watering down, also any white smoke means a bad gasket. Again that problem could ruin the engine. I had a water leak on my 98 A6 and the oil and water temp did not show any problem, also the water would not leak at idle, only while under pressure from driving. a
Q: I have talked to people that say all Honda's do this, but the guy at the dealership said it could be something bigger. He wouldn't go into detail, I think he just wanted to get my car in to get it looked at and have me pay 150 bucks. If it is the alternator, than how much do those cost?Any help or do you have the same problem.
If by blink you mean dim slightly when the window motor is being operated? If so then there is resistence in the circuit (bad connection, corrosion) or you just have a weak alternator and battery which is gonna cost you about $200.
Q: I have a 1998 Chevy Lumina, my car would not start. Luckily, this all happened in my driveway and not on the highway! I called AAA last night and he tested my battery and alternator, both were in poor condition (the alternator tested in the yellow, about a 12). Before this happened, I left the car running for 10 minutes to warm up (I live in MN), but 3 hours before, my car was running normal. I explained to a family member about what happened and he said, quote, “that doesn’t make any sense”. I moved to a metropolitan area where I do not know anybody personally who can even help me to repair my car. Also, too, I’m worried I was taken advantage of by the local auto technician. Could there be another underlying issue that the technician didn’t even want to take the time to diagnose, such as maybe tightening the alternator belt or just charging the battery altogether? Before this happened, none of my indicator lights came on, such as the battery light or service engine light. Thanks for the help!
First, and fore most; some people will take advantage of anyone, including their mother, if given an opportunity. There are bad mechanics AND bad customers, each fighting to win. TRUST is the key word in this situation. Finding a trustworthy, and, reliable mechanic is a chore in and of itself. Secondly, the car in question is twelve years old. All the good stuff has already been sucked out and enjoyed, leaving you a vehicle which could probably use a new one of everything. Luckily the problem you describe has very few related components. The battery, the alternator, the starter, the battery cables, and the alternator belt.So even replacing every component on the list should come in at between $200. and $300.00. Tack on a few hundred bucks for labor costs. Chalk these expenses up in the education column. What will you have learned ? you asked? Well, is the shop clean? Does the mechanic listen to your explanation? Does he treat you with respect? Answer all your questions ect. . the list goes on forever. The easy part is if he fails any one of your tests you can stop going to him. Good luck!
Q: How does one disable the Auto-Chek system on a 1993 Audi 100.Mine has lost its mind.
It is in the ECM so you can't fully disable it without sending the ECM to some kind of computer genius to re-build. What is it doing that bothers you? If it is just the screen in the dash flashing. pull the cluster out and clip the wires to the screen. Don't cut the check engine light however or your car will fail state inspection.
Q: There are several gears for car headlamps
Off ---- small lights ----- headlamps, far light to pull the rod forward, near the light pull
Q: Is it ok to wire a 12v bulb to a 14v power supply? will the extra 2 volts hurt the bulbs very much?
Most 12v bulbs are made for the auto industry, and their 12V system is really 13.8v, which is practically 14v anyway. No problem, and you probably will not notice a shorter life, as they tend to burn out anyway, eventually.
Q: I have a check engine light on my 06 MB C280. The manufacturer‘s warranty has expired and Dealer told me to get it checked, I‘ll need to have them do the full diagnosis which will cost $110 Plus Tax.I was told by someone that if I take the car to AutoZone, they‘ll scan the Check Engine error with computer and let me know what the problem code it is for Free.Is this true? Can I take my car to AutoZone for the check engine sign?I‘m trying to get rid of the car and trying to save what I could for my next carPlease help!
It is good for protecting the torso against attack, but it is not without risk.
Q: I installed some subwoofers with my friends today in my 2010 nissan frontier, now after everything is reconnected, the red airbag light next to my speedometer wont stop blinking. anybody know whats wrong with it? How do i get it to stop blinking? are my airbags still connected or on or whatever so they deploy if needed? everything else appears fine except this dash light. Please help. Thank you
The blinking light means something is wrong with the airbag system. An auto parts store might be able to read the computer code, or you might have to go to a dealer.
Q: My check engine light came on my 98 Toyota Tacoma. Tood it to Auto Zone and it came back with a code P0446. Evaporative emission control system vent control circuit fault. What does that mean and what needs to be done to fix it.
there is a electrical solenoid (evap solenoid valve)mounted on the fuel vapor canister this it what is wrong, some times you need to replace canister also it will get saturated with fuel because valve is not working properly honda/toyota tech 11yrs.
