Q: I‘m having a problem with my a/c system. the interior lights on the controls no longer come on, and many things don‘t work anymore. the fan comes on blows air, but it‘s no longer heated. and the ducts don‘t move either, for when you want the air from the outside vs inside air circulation. everything was fine yesterday until the thermostat housing was attempted to be taken off.the last bolt wouldn‘t come off. and the housing has shifted a bit from its original place, and wont be budged back. could this have anything to do with it. i checked all fuses and they work fine. any solutions?: If you want heat, it's carried by the engine coolant. If the engine thermostat housing isn't closed tight, the coolant will all leak out and not carry heat anywhere- the heater, the radiator- not anywhere, and it will stay where you don't want too much of it- in the engine. The engine will overheat very quickly without coolant in it and be damaged badly. The interior heating ducts are controlled, often, by engine vacuum carried by little hoses and some may have gotten knocked loose. Some cars do this wth cables and levers instead of vacuum. You need to look in a good auto repair manual like Chiltons and see where everything related to heating and cooling belongs and make sure it's still there. But before you try to start the engine, fix the thermostat housing. Get a friend who knows about these things to help you and don't let it get dark before you finish working. Since the heater lights don't come on anymore, find the wire that got knocked off and plug it back. How do bolts on an engine near a thermostat get stuck? Maybe it's rusted in place, or stuck with block sealer that was used to stop a leak. Leak stop with sodium silicate will do that, and that's about the best kind of sealer, but the problems it can cause are what you have. I hope you never have to take the head off- some of the head bolts might be stuck too and they are extremely hard- I wouldn't want to have to try and drill out one, and you'd need a diamond drill, or at least carbide. If you break the thermostat bolt, you'll have to drill it out and tap new threads in the hole so a new bolt will go in and hold. That simple job got very complicated, didn't it.

Q: so heres the deal. i got in my car, started it and took off. no warming or anything, and when i tried to back down my driveway my traction light came on. there‘s no ice, so what gives. the car does need brakes and i am replacing them but why the stupid light now. when the car warmed up the brakes acted completly normal. i don‘t get it and the car repair shop wants to charge me close to a hundred bucks just to stick the sensor on it. any suggestions?: The traction control light only comes on when the wheels spin you should check your fuses thats a common problem wat make and model is ur car

There not sure which one it is.Will it mess up my car if we just leave it alone?How much would this cost to fix?What all could it be?: The evap system capures fuel that is evaporating from the gas tank, and allow it to re-enter the tank to be burnt. Its only there because laws require it to be so that fuel does not evaporate into the atmosphere. While you should make efforts to fix the problem, it will in no way effect the life or performance of your engine, you may lose fuel from your gas tank while it is sitting, and you wont pass an emissions test come the next time you need to take one.

Q: I just recently had all my tires replaced and the next day my abs lights came on in my dashboard. Well, today the first time I hit my brakes my abs system activated or something and my van felt like it had no brakes for a brief moment. I have to work tommorrow using my van and I was wondering if it is dangerous and what might be wrong. Q: I have a 200 BMW 323Ci (coupe). The brake sensor light indicator came on which means I need new pads at least.BMW dealership always replaces pads AND rotors and quoted $1045(+tax) for my car. I‘m wondering if there is an auto repair shop (i.e. a national chain) that will do brakes on BMWs and doesn‘t charge such an outrageous amount? I don‘t have the tools to do it myself.Places like Meineke, Goodyear Monro say they‘ll do the work but I have to bring it in and have them look at it in person before they‘ll give me even a ballpark price.One local business quoted $800.is that reasonable?Thanks!: their all going to be a little higher ,because its a BMW ,and even though the parts don't cost that much more for them,mechanics still charge more for working on them,id check around ,there are places that will do it cheaper than that ,800 is a little high on that one,it doesn't cost that much to replace all the brakes on those,i know because i own a shop and do this also,normal price should be around 550 at the most,and that's for a complete brake job,good luck with it.

Q: Preowned vehicle, Starter works very well,(hold both buttons down for -under two sec.)I have accidentally ( eep!) turned on the security system 4 times. (when it is on, car will not start, even with key) , can deactivate security feature by pressing # 1 button.BUT have no idea how to turn it on on purpose!Have tried just about every combination of buttons I can think of!I think this was installed at the GM factory because we have an idiot light on dash that reads ‘security‘ when the system is on. But I think it has been reprogrammed to become a remote starter as well. And naturally no manual or such came with the car.We always lock doors manually, using the power locks, could that be related in anyway???Happy New Year by the way. :): I had this problem with the 300esp, after pushing 100's of combinations I went to a local guy who hooked up to the brain and he was able to reprogram the brain and add a new key fob for 49bux. ALOT easier than playin the guessing game. and not too expensive either. I know on the 300esp you can accidentally change the settings by turning on the key and operating the valet switch a certain number sequence. After I guessed and played around with a few sequences I thought it might be.I only made the problem worse then went to the local guy. good luck

Q: i have a 99 gmc yukon i got from my bro-in-law. it need some real work. i replace the hubs,frt cv alxes,shocks 4, brakes frt and rear changed all oils and gear oils, even transmission, also brought the blue auto-trac fluid for trans-fer case, fuel filter and grease complete truck. but my service 4wd light comes on now on the dash, when i go from 2wd to 4wd and the only way to get it back to 2wd is i have to stop and cut the truck off then restart it place in drive and hit the 2wd button and it will return to 2wd. HELP do i need to replace the 2 senors on this system for it to work right or it there something else: i'm assuming you have the 4 button activate the left fringe of the sprint. maximum circumstances they set a 2725 code which does not activate a delicate to sign a difficulty. that's an inner change failure,replace it. i'm exceedingly constructive the guidelines say that we are actually not think to get own or harsh in the direction of yet another. I do have 15+ years GM education and function seen this code thousands of circumstances although I do agree that codes could desire to be checked first and a few easy potential and floor tests. i'm sorry i did not write that each and one and all out in my first answer.
