Q:i was diving back from a friends house and i ran out of gas. i was rly mad cuz i had to b home for dinner and my mom gets real mad when i late. also my cell fone was out. anyway i couldnt help myself and i statred kicking the frotn of the car real hard a lot. sum1 came down the road and gave me gas and when i turned on the car the check engine light came on. also it says reduced power wen i drove back. is it cuz it knew i was almost out of gas and the car knew it had to conserve gas?: u can use special chemical degenerate or vinegar

Q:My check engine light came on in my 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS so I took it to Auto Zone and they use the OBD on it and turn off the check engine light and said its my Knock Sensors so I need to know should I take it to my dealer for servicing.: To begin with the knock sensor being bad will not make your engine start to knock. Its a sensor the computer uses to monitor the performance of your engine so that it can adjust your timing as needed. I would recommend that you get it checked out as soon as possibile. But stay away from the dealer unless you can't find a good local repair shop. This is a fairly simple repair, and a local shop can handle it no problem. One other side issue, you say they turned off the light?? If that is the case, did the light come back on?? If it hasn't come back yet, your wasting your time taking it anywhere. When autozone reset your system they erased all the diagnostic data that the repair shop would use to correctly diagnose and fix the vehicle. Wait for the light to come back on, if it doesn't, then it was probably a piece of dirt on a sensor. Also keep in mind if / when the light is on, the system reports that there is a problem in the knock sensor circuit, but you may not need a new sensor, it can be a wiring issue, a bad connection, or sometimes a problem with another related component.

Q:something with my Tempnow my thermostat is going crazy, it goes up to the red and then back down, when i drive it stays down, if i sit in traffic it starts to overheart, I do have a coolant leak, had it for 1 year and no mechanic can ever find the leak, also my heat is not workingI will be taking it to a mechanic today but wanted someone opnion of what it could be and how much you think the cost will be: Low coolant or air in the coolant system, will cause the vehicle to overheat, heater not to work, and erratic temp gauge. So that answers your currant symptoms. Do you have the 3.4 liter v6? If so, the coolant system needs to bleed after you fill the coolant. Looking at the motor, there should be a bleeder on the passenger side, front by the belt. There might be another one on the driver side by the thermostat. Loosen these, fill with coolant. Start the car and let it warm up. While it is warming up, you will see coolant, and air sputtering out of these bleeders. Wait until it is a solid stream of coolant, then close them. Top off the coolant and you are done. Now where is the coolant going. If it is the 3.4 v6 the motors are infamous for intake gaskets, and head gaskets going bad. Check the oil, to see if coolant is showing up in there. If not do a compression test on the motor. Willing to bet that head, or intake gaskets are bad, and that is where the coolant is going. If it is deemed the intake gaskets are bad, might as well spend the extra and have the headgaskets changed. You will save in the long run. Hope it goes well.

How can I take this light off if everything seems to be fine?: One of my pet gripes is that the emission control system in most cars will not say what is wrong, just that something is wrong. If you live in the US outside of California you can take the car to most auto parts chain stores (like Auto Zone) or to Aamco Transmission and they will read the code for free, and try to reset it if the code is temporary. In California only authorized auto service shops are allowed to do that... no comment on the sensibility of that.

Q:I have a 2003 VW Passat Turbo engine,My mechanic told me the only code that came up after checking it was system too lean and that altitude could be a probable cause, I‘ve been driving the car back and forth for California to Flagstaff, AZ. He told me to pour injector fluid in it, and after filling up the tank and adding the cleaning injector fluid, I‘ve been running the car for about a week and the tank is getting low, I turned it on earlier and the light was off. Would that have been the problem then? Or should I get it checked again? He said that sometimes they get dirty and cause that light.: When you have a code that say your system is to lean that means that you dont have enough fuel and to much air if u had a clogged injector and you put cleaner in it then most likely the cleaner unclogged it and made the check engine light turn off but it is probably still stored in the computer but the light will not come on you will need to have your mechanic clear the code for you
