Q: Well, here is the extent of my deal. I got last month a Chevrolet Malibu 2002. I noticed that , progresivelly more and more the turn signals on it were not functioning for some ammount of time. They would stop working when on the road for some time and then turn themselves on again either later down the road or after I stopped and parked. I am talking about both the lt;- -gt; and the lights themselves on both sides.I took it into an auto shop last week, they charged me a $135 for an extensive diagnostic. They checked wires, fuses, bulbs and took apart the steering column. Once in the steering column they said the multifunction switch was bad and it needs to be replaced to fix the problem. I happily did so especially since they have a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on repair. Ended up being charged for part, labor and so on over $450.After I got out of the shop I noticed that the switch when pressing down and up on it felt incredibly tight wheares it was loose before.: You answered your own question when you said the shop has a 12 month, 12000 mile warranty on repairs.

If the gas cap wasn't loose and you still have problems, you should have the codes read for free at an auto parts store.

Q: 2003 Ford Expedition 5.4L The overdrive light begins to flash only at low rpms (less then 1000) or at a stop. Once the rpms go above 1000 or so the light turns off. Its also not consistent. Sometimes its after it warms up, other times it turns on almost immediately. The transmission doesn‘t slip, it doesn‘t jerk or clunk. Other then the light turning on now you would never know there is an issue The mechanic that we took it to, said it was a fluid sensor, but we couldn‘t afford to fix it at the time. But now we no longer know exactly which sensor to change. I know its in the pan, because they suggested changing the filter at the same time, since they had to remove the pan anyways. I‘ve looked for any and all sensors, but none that i have seen seem to fit the description of a fluid sensor. Which sensor is the likely culprit? Any help would be appreciated.: well when the light comes on it leaves a code the code would help to determine what it is. no fluid sensor. there are two different transmissions used it. depending on which 5.4 used a 16 valve or 24 valve design. get back to us with that code its in the system since the light doesn't always come on. auto zone does the scan for nothing

Q: in my 1994 mitsubishi expo when the brake is not on.then after awhile it shuts off.the guy at firestone said the brake fluid was dirty and a little low, but he couldn‘t just change it or add more in , he would have to check for a leak in the system first , and that would cost about $600.but when he dipped his finger in it and I drove away, it shut off.It did this again today and after warmed up , it shut itself off: Air in the system will not make the pedal stiff, quite the opposite, it would make it fairly light and also ineffective unless you pumped it, your problem could be in the thrust bearing or perhaps pedal pivot, but that's doubtful.

Q: 04 durango engine light.why did it come on?: Steven J has apparently never turned a wrench on his car, before. On a CRX, I can swap out the intake in about 2 minutes. It's a piece of cake. And it will NOT cost $300. And if all you're doing is swapping an air filter like he did, that's about 30 seconds worth of work. IF THAT. And if you're stupid enough to belive KN's advertised claims about what it will do for your car.well.there's just no helping some people.
