Q: My Venture Van ran out of gas yesterday, I put gas in and now it runs fine, but the service engine soon light is on It doesnt need oil and the coolant level is fine, what could be causing this or how do i reset the system to turn the light off?: Disconnecting the battery on a newer car does not work. You will need to use a scanner to shut it off. The newer vehicles have an internal battery for memory - that is why you can not reset the mileage of the vehicle when you disconnect the battery :P. Id go to your local automotive parts store like Kragen/Auto Zone and have the guys there use the scanner and see what the code is - they should be able to give you at least the Code number and then you can research it online of on this Forum. With that info you can determine if it was set due to the gas problem you had or the gas cap was not put on tight enough which can cause the light to come on. All in all there is a reason behind the light and the 1st step is use a scanner Good luck.

Q: my 1991 Honda accord has auto transmission with the optional sport or normal switch.the light blinks nonstop?: if your s light is blinking on your dash it means that the control unit for the transmission has detected a problem with your transmission electronic control system, you need to jump the connector at the right front kick panel and then turn the key on and the code will flash on the dash, you should take it to a honda technician to repair it can be many different things, by the way does your speedometer work, on the model had a problem with the speedsensor and the speedo would work erratic or just stop, that would cause the light to flash also.

Q: Auto Zone tells me after OBD scanner that I may need an Air Filter.or could be fuses (probably not), or a connection hose may be loose.What is an AIR FILTER, is it expensive, and can my SMOG man do the repair ?: P0410 is the generic code for Secondary air injection system malfunction. It is not related to the efficiency of the air filter. The valves on the air pump may be faulty, or switched electrically, and there may be a bad switch. Whatever, your SMOG man can do the repair. Check the warranty on Emissions related parts, because they are required and are longer than other warranties. If you are still within the mileage limits, take it to the dealer and you won't have to pay.

Q: The car left the house fine, with no indicator lights. After I got back in after leaving the bank, both the Brake and Battery light came on. I parked it back at the house and the fluid level is fine, the oil level is fine, and the belts are intact (as far as I can tell). I went back later to start the car and it sounded like it turned over, although it apparently did not as the RPMs were 0, it was super quiet, and when put into gear, it would not budge or rev. The brake jammed up too but I was able to get it back in park. then the check engine and oil pressure lights came on! The air was blowing hot and the radio was still playing. Better have the charging system and battery tested. If you can hook up a battery charger and a auto parts store is near by drive it over or call dad to check to test and replace the alternator. Q: I was looking into buying this 91 sonoma with the TBI 4.3 engine. I had it running for about 5 minutes while I was inspecting everything, and then the service light came on. So I checked for codes and got none. Turned the car back on, light came back on a couple minutes later. Gauges read fine, no leaks, idle, or acceleration problems. I have the same problem with my 92 except it does have a problem every now and then. What could this be on this truck?: How did you check the codes? Did you do it the voodoo way, or use an actual code reader? For years I've used the voodoo way. There are multiple ways to do this, and it depends upon the car. For example, in my town and country, I have to push and hold the two trip buttons on the dash while turning the key to accessory, and after five seconds let go. Then it shows me the codes where the mileage should be. With other cars, the check engine light can blink out in morse code, etc. The trouble is, this isn't a sure-fire way to get all codes. Some codes can't be expressed this way, depending. A month ago my check engine light came on, and the voodoo method of checking codes didn't work - it said there were no codes. So I had to borrow a code reader from a friend. Sure enough, it was an oxygen sensor gripe. Most auto parts stores will check your codes for free. Good luck!
