- Never a double sided tape, it will leave a residue and attract dirt. The use of a pad as some say is the right way to go. Its actually a very thin mat that goes under the rug. It has a tacky feeling but leaves no residue. There are a couple different types for your rugs. Some are made for rugs over hard wood ( allows the wood to breathe ). Some for rug over carpet and some for rugs over a hard surface. These don t react with a vinyl and stain the vinyl. After a few months, depending on your foot traffic, they lose there tackiness because they naturally collect dirt. They are washable and return to their natural state and work again. - If the carpet cleaners you used had water in it you may have already set the stain. Ink is encapsulated. When you add water you release it. We use a solvent to remove ink from fabric. It keeps the ink encapsulated. If you look in the phone book for a carpet cleaning supply store. Go there and buy ink remover. You need a wet dry vac. Pour the ink remover on the ink stain and hold the nozzle so it sucks up the ink from the carpet. It should be really quick. Unless you set the stain. This should do the trick. If the stain is set, you can replace a scrap carpet piece to the old stained carpet.

- Sounds like the puppy pee has crystallized and still in the rug. Re-wash the rug with a product called OUT! from the pet department. It is an enzymatic cleaner that removes the odor and stains from anything protein such urine, feces, vomit and blood. I have used this product for years not only for pet accidents, but from my kids too. To make it easier, I used a carpet cleaner to extract the liquid, but you can also air dry again. Good Luck! ;)

- you could rent a rug doctor and clean the carpets. They usually rent for about $25-$30 and then you just buy the soap to go in it. My parents always add a little ammonia to the water too so it helps bring out the stains.

- Its amazing whats in our rugs-blankets and so on that we cannot see with the human eye! I watched a show once on that and WOW and EWWWWWW some of the things u couldnt see with bare eyes but was there under a microscope! Just nasty! Even on our makeup blush brush! It was showing all kinds of nasties on them too! So I try to be extra careful especially with blankets and such but Im sure there is probably one or two somethings that I just dont want to know about! lol
