Q: my carpet smells like cat pee, but i know my cat doesnt pee on my floor. My family is the original owners of our house and she is the only cat that has been in this house. how would i get the smell out of my carpet and if for some reason she is peeing on the carpet how would i get her to stop? also i thought it could be the smell of dust but i vacuum, how would i get my carpet to stop smelling?
You're going to have to use some enzyme stuff, zero odor, vinegar, Resolve, or something to change the odor. Don't be fooled that your cat didn't do it- if it smells, somebody did!
Q: I have berber carpet in my living room and every couple of days i will see this white stuff just magically appear on the top of the carpet. I go to wipe it away and it seems to be nothing, like it just disappears, nothing left on the towel or on the rug like it just vanishes. It's in the same spot every time. Could something be growing under the carpet? If so, is it mold and how can I fix it?
It sounds like a powder carpet deodorizer was once used on the carpet and is now walking to the surface. These gimmick products are a real nuisance once they have been administered to the carpet. According to directions they are supposed to be vacuumed from the carpet, however, that is near impossible with out a mega ton beater bar and a super volcanic vacuum cleaner. Mold only grows in high humidity, needing a food source, such as extremely soiled carpet or upholstery, wood or paper. Berber carpet, if Olefin is a tough carpet to vacuum as the fibers run horizontal with the floor, soil, spills, etc, hide under neath the carpet strands. Place your hand on the counter top, spread your fingers, imagine a spill on top of your hand, The spill will migrate down between your fingers and position itself on the bottom of your fingers. That's how Olefin carpeting is made, tough to vacuum and tough to even professionally clean.
Q: How to clean stains of bedroom carpet
The carpet stain must be removed in time , but it must have the correct method, edible oil stains: Use gasoline or carbon tetrachloride and other volatile solvent to remove, use alcohol to clean residual part Soy sauce stains: First, new stains should be washed with cold water, and then washing with detergent can be removed. Old stains can be scrubbed by warm water with detergent and ammonia, then rinse with water. Shoes oil stains: Using gasoline, turpentine or alcohol to wipe, then use soap to wash. Urine stains: New stains can be washed with warm water or 10% of ammonia solution. Old stains can be washed by detergent firstly, then washing the carpet with ammonia water, pure wool carpets need to be washed by citric acid. Juice stains: First using 5% of the ammonia liquid to clean, and then using detergent to clean again. But the ammonia does harm to wool carpet fiber, so it should minimize the usage. Generally it can clean by citric acid or soap, alcohol can also be used. Ice cream stains: Wipe with gasoline. Wine stains: New stains can be washed with water. New stains can be washed with water. Old stains need to use ammonia adding borax aqueous solution to remove.
Q: ok so my dining room has rug, which im not a big fan of would prefer tile or wood flooring but anyways since its rug i wanted to get an area rug to put underneath my table thats made of some hard material that in case people sill or drop food it can come off easily like it wood if it spilled on wood or tile flooring, has anyone seen carpets like that??? or any suggestions as to what i can put under there?
I okorder . People submit step by step instructions on just about anything you can think of that you can make yourself. There are really some great ideas I never would have thought I could do myself and mostly they look good!
Q: I think Tide works great for brightening clothes and was wondering is there anything out there that brings out the color in older carpets (my carpets are about 7 years old and they are starting to fade in color).
If your carpet is just dull from the years of wear (dirt accumulation) you might want to have it professionally cleaned. The machines they use are a LOT more powerful at removing set in dirt than any rental or home use machine could be, but if your carpet is faded from sun exposure there's nothing really you can do. When the color is gone, it's gone and you might want to look into replacing the carpet.
Q: What about carpet shedding?
Keep the carpet dry. Therefore, carpets should be aired regularly. Sun in the sun, this also can avoid wool carpet fading problems.
Q: Is it true that you are better off buying a thinner carpet (not as dense or tall) with an 8 lb. carpet padding (the best) as opposed to a thicker carpet (dense and tall) with a cheaper 6 lb. padding? The price difference in the padding is dramatic...3.50/sq. yd. vs. 6.50/sq. yd.!
Depends on your budget/what you can afford now and how long you want it to last/where the carpet is located. For a bedroom carpet, you want to denser, as you are walking around bear foot. For the entrance hall, perhaps something cheaper, with a rug or runner. What you should remember is the carpet, no matter what grade, gets covered in all the germs, dirt etc you walk in, you drop etc etc. So you should really swap it every so often anyway for hygiene/allergy reasons, regardless of the quality that goes down. A quick vacuum never gets the germs out, just the dust!
Q: How to do if the carpet shed hair?
Some of the quality of the carpet after the hair did not do it more to do with a vacuum cleaner to clean or with a hand brush hair device to deal with the bedroom to use the blanket off the dust with the air to enter the respiratory system air to create a health hazard
Q: we bought several new throw-rugs to protect carpets at door-ways. They were folded in half on a pile in the store. It has been impossible to remove that crease, which as the traffic goes on it bunches up in the middle even worse. Any ideas on how to get out these creases where the fold was? Have washed, weighted down, turned over, hung up.....can't seem to prevail! Need advise on how to get rid of these creases. Will never buy a folded rug again.
I have no idea if this will work or if it was part of what you have already done. But what if you washed it or at least got it very wet, then hung it on a clothes line (maybe you can rig something up in the shower) with weights on it? Your line would need to be pretty taut but it might be worth a try. I never thought about creases in rugs but I have several in the garage that are now bent so it's something I will likely need to figure out at some point ... or toss the rugs when I move.
Q: Ok so my friend threw up on my other friends carpet so she freaked and grabed toliet cleaner and put it on the carpet and then it hardend now its stiff on the carpet. We tryed everything I tryed a steam cleaner and lots of other cleaners and no luck can some one help do you maybe know a remedy please help
Things You’ll Need: Dry Cleaning Fluid Mild Dish Detergents Ammonia Soft Dry Cloth Water Step1 Remove as much of the vomit as possible from the carpet without spreading the mess. Step2 Pour dry cleaning fluid over the stain. Step3 Blot the stain with a dry, white cloth. Step4 Apply a small amount of mild liquid detergent to the stain. Step5 Blot again with the cloth. Step6 Flood the stain with water. Step7 Blot again with the cloth. Step8 Pour a small amount of ammonia over the stain. Step9 Blot again. Step10 Apply a little more detergent to the stain. Step11 Blot again. Step12 Flood the area with water. Step13 Blot one last time. _______________________ Tips : Dry cleaning fluid can be purchased at home supply stores or the dry cleaners. Always test the cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous part of the carpet before using them on a large area. Use a white cloth rather than a colored one to prevent any dyes from coming off on the carpet. As you blot, keep turning the cloth so that you are using a clean, dry section to pick up the stain and the cleaning fluids from the carpet. Don't rub. If using a brush to help clean the stain, always brush from the outer edges of the spill inward to prevent the stain from spreading.
