Q:I purchased an old wool, floral patterned, pile area rug (approx. 8' x 10') at an auction. It needs cleaned and there is not a professional cleaner in my area. Can I clean it with a traditional steam cleaner using cold water? If so, what about the beater bar? Do I need to diconnect that so I don't fuzz the wool? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I am a pro carpet cleaner and have been in the business for 10 years, do not take your wool rug to the laundry mat and do not use your steam cleaner on it. Wool is a very delicate fiber and can therefore be easily damaged. I would definitly see if there is any professional carpet cleaners that will come and pick it up from your house. If your area rug is not to expencive however you may be able to get away with just using the steam cleaner with no beater bar and just water, but if it is expencive the the only way to go it to have a pro do it.
Q:The yellow rug's area is 59 Sq feet greater than the green's. Find the length of each rug. Please help i missed this day of school and my teacher quot;Forgotquot; that we did that that day. It is the only problem on my Algebra final I do not understand. Solve it algebraically and please show the steps. P.S. it is a 2 day test, I didn't check the test before we took it haha. I would teach myself, but I don't have my book because it's at my dad's house and my teacher isn't available tomorrow to teach me..
Lets say: The length of green rug = GL The length of yellow rug = YL The width of green rug = GW The width of yellow rug = YW The areas: Green rug = GL*GW Yello rug = YL*YW What we have: GL = YL+7 YL = GL -7 GW = 3 YW = 5 YL*YW = GL*GW + 59 YL*YW = YL*5 = (GL-7)*5 GL*3 + 59 = (GL-7)*5 3GL +59 = 5GL - 35 5GL -3GL = 59 +35 2GL = 94 GL = 47 YL = 47 - 7 = 40
Q:I have been living in a rental home for 2yrs and notice that the carpet is old. Due to the fact that i have had it clean 1 time steam clean and 2 times rental machine and stains will not come up. Asked rental company once and they said the owner does not have enough money to replace carpet. The carpet is over 10yrs old and you can tell because the edges are coming up and the man who clean the carpet one time said they don't make that kind of carpet any more. How can i get the owner to replace the carpet.
Send him a certified letter with return receipt - this way you know he recieved it. Let him know that the carpet is starting to come up and that you consider it a safety hazard. Ask politely if he/she can replace the carpet. Look up landlord - tenant laws in your state, there may be specifications on when carpet needs to be replaced. This may be a time limit or if certain conditions are met (ie: coming loose, excessive tears/damage, etc.) If you can find something that states he has a responsibility to replace the carpet then include that in your letter. If you can't find anything specific according to your state laws then you'll just have to keep asking politely. If he takes no action and it IS his legal responsibility then the next step would be to send him another certified letter stating that he has (specify a time limit, I would say 30 days) to replace the carpet or you will replace it and withhold the amount from your rent. Check and see if this is legal in your state - it is in most.
Q:my rug is filthy ....we moved in after these people had dogs in my room and it smells like pee when it gets hot so i decided to clean it today and i put Woolite on and scrubbed it then water and soap on it( i didnt care) now its wet and i want to vacuum it up with a regular vacuum .. is this ok and will my carpet stop making my room smell since i scrubbed it twice with Woolite and water and soap
The pee probably got into the padding underneath the carpet. When it gets hot, the pee seeps up through the carpeting and starts to smell. The smell will NOT go away until you get the pee out of the padding. Depending on how wet the carpet was, you probably got some of the pee out, but perhaps not all. I would rent a steam carpet cleaner (available at most larger grocery stores and discount stores like WalMart for about $25 per day) and buy a treatment (carpet cleaning soap) especially made for urine or pet odors. There are lots of them available where ever carpet cleaning supplies are sold. Don't run a regular vacuum over a wet carpet. Put a fan on the carpet until it is pretty dry. Again, if the padding got wet, the carpet will act like a wick, sucking the water up from the padding into the carpet itself, so once the carpet seems dry, it may then suddenly appear wet again.
Q:What are the advantages and disadvantages of acrylic carpet? How about the household?
1, best every week for acrylic carpets a vacuum cleaner, the vacuum cleaner with pure suction, tapping rod and rotary vacuum cleaner three bristle brush, are applicable to the acrylic carpet pile closely; and Terry acrylic carpets, vacuum cleaner can only use a suction function.2, dry cloth paper to remove stains like coffee, coke or juice beverage caused by such stains, you need to use dry cloth, or it can get tissues absorb moisture; and then, immediately went to the kitchen to get wet with dry cloth wipe shot in vinegar stains, gently and carefully took the swab. This way, stains can be removed.
Q:my daughter got play doh all over my carpet....new play doh...how do i get it off the carpet
Instructions Things You'll Need: Vacuum cleaner Metal spoon Stiff bristled brush Foam carpet cleaning solution Step 1 While it's still moist, remove as much of the play dough from the carpet as you can. Avoid stepping on it to prevent it from being ground in to the carpet fibers even more. Step 2 Is there dough that you were unable to get picked up because it's already too stuck to the carpet? Walk away! Leave the dough to dry for several hours (I find that over- night works best). You want the dough to be as dry as possible. Step 3 Using the edge of a spoon, firmly scrape the dough from the carpet. The spoon will not damage the carpet, and it will also loosen the dried dough that is stuck. Step 4 Vacuum the carpet thoroughly. Continue to scrape and vacuum until all of the dough is removed.
Q:How do you clean the big carpet in the hotel?
Two cleaning, you need to clear clear stains, such as water soluble, oil soluble, glial stains, etc., these stains must be promptly removed in the dirt, placed too long will be difficult to remove.
Q:I've recently noticed rugs popping up on my yards in the evenings, it goes down to around 4oC here at night right now, and all horses are in their own fields, not in a herd. I personally am not too sure on rugging yet. My mare is a 16.2, 10 year old Irish Sports Horse, and I simply refuse to clip her for my own reasons. She has been rugged for most of her life with her old owner, and obviously it's unfair of me to deny her rugging now, so no rug is not an option.I was just wondering how cold it has to get before you start rugging. I myself will rug in horrible rain, and at 1oC or below, but should I be doing it at higher temps? I don't want to ruin the growth of her winter coat, and she gets hay and a feed every night.
While I agree with the other answers it should also be considered that horses in the wild are herd animals and therefore do group together either by sticking their rumps together to keep warm or sometimes horses stick their muzzles together and breathe on each other to keep breathing warm air. I would suggest the horses ears and behind them. Are they cold? If they are cold I would suggest blanketing/rugging them especially if the horses are going to be alone in separate fields. There are several types of blankets/rugs. Some are thicker and some are thinner. Lightweight blankets are for temperatures that do not go down past 40 degrees. Medium weights are for temperatures that do not go much past below freezing and heavy blankets are for the days when it is freezing. You can decided between the lightweight or the medium weight.
Q:i am doing an equine course and one of the papers is on stabling and the question is asking to quot;explain two reasons why a horse would be rugged if it was spending the night in a stablequot; in the course book it dose not have anything on this and all the books i have read don't explain it ether. lots of help appreciated
A horse will only need a rug during cold weather if they have been shaved or do not grow an appropriate winter coat. A majority of horses who are not shaved will not require a rug, when outside or inside. Breed of horse should also be taken into consideration, breeds originating from cold climates are even less likely to require a rug than breeds that originate from warmer enviornments. Another reason a horse may need a rug is because they are very young or very old. Winter foals often times will be rugged because they just came from their mother's very warm womb and do not have coats suitable for the winter weather. Very old horses often can have difficulty keeping weight or growing good enough coats for winter as well. Very ill horses may also need to be blanketed, as will extremely skinny horses. After exercise during cold weather if the horse has worked enough to sweat it is advisable to throw a fleece rug over them for a bit to wick off the sweat and dry the skin and coat. This will allow the horse to remain warm, if you were to put them back outside still sweaty it would cause their core body temperature to drop, which is dangerous during winter months.
Q:Does anyone know where I can find a large area rug, mostly black with gold detail? I was looking at oriental rugs, but I'm not particularly fond of any of the ones I've found so far. If it was up to me it would be mostly black with some kind of golden chinese dragon in the corner, or just be asian themed. Any ideas!?! Please!
