- Q: How do you get a stain out of a rug that was put there from paper on fire. Only a part of the rug is burned.
- This is not a stain. The carpet piece has been burned away. Depending on how large the burn is, snip a piece or pieces of carpet from a corner of the carpeting and use a little glue and put the new piece(s) on top of glue. Don't try to rush this. Do it slowly, because you want to match the rest of the carpeting the best you can. When sniping the carpet pieces, only take the top portion. Good Luck

- Try some Goof Off, it can be found at Home Depot. Be careful with this as it will separate the carpet lining from the carpet nap. Use a terry cloth towel and dab.... do not rub!

- You get what you pay for . A wool rug that was tightly knotted is the most durable longest lasted choice. Most company use cheaper materials to machine make a rug. Polyester , Viscous (bamboo silk) will leave track marks in heavy traffic areas but are less likely to release dust in your home. Feel the back of the rug , if its rough on the back side and coarse its most likely made buy a machine . If the back side and front feel the same it most likely is made by a hand loom or hand knotted.

- Get a gallon jug of Acetone from Home Depot in the paint department. Pull all the old carpet up, pull up the tarboard sound deadening material, then pour out the Acetone and scrub the floor using steel wool to clean up any glue or tar that might be on the floor. Once you've got the floor pans clean, paint them with flat black paint to protect them from rusting. Finally, you can find replacement carpet at a parts store, just glue it down with contact cement.
