Q: I recently moved a couch and chair which was in the same position for 3 years on carpet. Any suggestions how to raise up the indent that is in the carpet. Thank you.: Depends on the type of carpet you have but there are two tricks that generally work. The 1st way is to set an ice cube(s) on the indent. Carefully work up the pile as the cube melts, A hair pick works well for doing this. The other trick ( if you have a heat set carpet fiber) is to CAREFULLY inject steam into the dent. Use an iron and do steam on the dent as you work at the fibers with a hair pick. You can also put a damp hand towel ( very warm water) on the dent along with a steam injected into the dent. Extreme care must be used doing it this way as not to melt the carpet fibers. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL

Q: Carpet laying mainly includes fixed type and unfixed type; It can be paved all over the room or partially.: Unfixed laying. Lay the carpet flat on the ground, all around to the required position, or to the root of the wall. If the carpet needs to be connected, the carpet joints shall be glued and assembled neatly before laying. The method of joint between carpet and carpet is: lining a 100mm wide linen strip under the carpet joint, apply adhesive, the amount of adhesive is 0.8kg per square meter, and then align and flatten it. If you want to lay double carpet, choose the upper floats 5-10mm thick carpet and lower 5mm thick rubber foam carpet pad.

Q: My carpet is so stained, and gross. it has makeup, and coke,and nailpolish.I reallly want to get new carpet.how much would that cost?in a 11 by 12 foot room?: The most you will probably pay if you can find a decent sale is 2-3 dollars per square foot materials and installed. This is a high estimate in my opinion, but and estimate nonetheless. 11*12=132*2=264 (132*3=396). I agree with trying to carpet shampoo first. Kind of pointless to replace carpet in only one room if you can shampoo it to a decent state.

Q: My light colored carpets have left over soap stains from when a cleanser was used to remove pet stains. Now there are white stains on my carpets. I have tried filling a carpet cleaner with hot water and going over the stains with that but that seems to have just spread the left over soap stain. HELP! How do I remove these stains for good?: Unless it is an excess of cleanser, which can be rinsed, it sounds as though you have bleached out some color from your carpet. If it is the latter, that is permanent. Sorry.

Q: so in my room i have a carpet which my mother told me that when our apartment was built they sticked the carpet with a special glue... under the carpet there are tiles..... but the glue is stuck to the tiles and i pulled the carpet to see whats happening under it because i really want to remove it because its unhealthy.... and i poored hot water and chlorine on and i took a knife to scratch it and the tiles wallpaper (however the call that thing) disappears and all i see its something black... what is that and what can i do now???? i already ripped a lot my carpet... any suggestions? what is that black thing??? is it the cement of the tiles?: First you do not need to put chlorine in with the water. The black paper ( is that what it looks like?) could just be something that was used to even out the floor's surface. Forget the knives and scratching! Adhesives ( glues) are sometimes soluble with water.. Sometimes with heat - you heat the glue moderately with perhaps a steam iron or a hair dryer, the glue will loosen enough to pry back the carpet. Otherwise- and this is totally out of range of my experience- solvents are sometimes used. I would not recommend using any kind of flammable solvent. Instead of knives find a wide putty knife to help lift the carpet off the tiles, this will get a larger area up off the tiles and will not scrape or gouge the tiles nor is it likely to slip and cut you. And you can get one for a few dollars. Work a little at a time- maybe it will take you a day or two- and wear safety glasses when you pull up the carpet because it is easy to get a small carpet fiber into your eye and it is a pain to get it out!

Q: what is the difference between steam cleaninig and deep cleaning? I don't think we have very dirty carpet but it was always suggested by our carpet cleaner (by the way - I hate how they always upsell their services). anyways - I want to have another carpet cleaning soon in the spring and would like to be more educated about this.Bottom line is - if 'steaming cleaning' does not clean... why bother having such service in the first place?: There are many ways to clean carpets. One is where they APPLY a dry cleaning agent on your carpet, agitate the chemical into the carpet fibers and then vacuum it up. I do not prefer this method. The one I prefer is Steam Cleaning. But be sure it is a truck mount - so that it has enough suction to remove all detergents. Don't rent the steam cleaners at the super markets - all they will do is ruin your carpets because they don't have enough power to clean and/or remove the cleaning chemicals. STEAM CLEAN - IT'S THE BEST!

Q: my baby girl is 16 months old . she makes mess in her room. i have hardfloor, was wondering what kind of rug would be ok as she makes a mess. and can u plz suggest me other things to buy for her room to make it beautiful and nice at reasonable price thanx: You can go to Home Depot and ask for there pieces that they had left over from big orders. Way cheaper than getting it cut. I got a real big piece for $15.00. I'm sure she is walking and sitting up by now so I would get her carpet like anyone else. They do have real short looped carpet that sweeps and vacuums easy. If you don't care about looks and she's that messy they have indoor/outdoor carpet that looks real close to reg. carpet.
