- Q: Does anyone know of any places in Detroit or areas around Detroit that sell carpets or rugs at wholesale or discount prices?
- hagopians on 8 mile and also go to the Country Fair Flea market on 8 mile/Conant
- Q: How do you get a stain out of a rug that was put there from paper on fire. Only a part of the rug is burned.
- This is not a stain. The carpet piece has been burned away. Depending on how large the burn is, snip a piece or pieces of carpet from a corner of the carpeting and use a little glue and put the new piece(s) on top of glue. Don't try to rush this. Do it slowly, because you want to match the rest of the carpeting the best you can. When sniping the carpet pieces, only take the top portion. Good Luck
- Q: has any one had them out to clean your carpet and if so is it worth the money? give me some stories good or bad about them
- Used them many times and they are very reasonably priced. If you aren't moving your furniture (which we didn't) make sure they put everything up on blocks so as not to stain the carpets until they dry. It's a normal procedure for them but they can mess up and your wood or fabric that touches the wet carpet will stain it. When they are done your carpets should only be damp and not wet to the touch. If they are wet don't let them leave until the carpets are only damp. Stanley Steemer is a franchise operation so not all franchises are great. I use them for a whole house cleaning but use my own steam cleaner much more often. I have saved a lot of money by owning my own steam cleaning machine which is a Bissell. I can keep up on carpet cleaning routinely as opposed to waiting until the carpets are in dire need. I would recommend after you use Stanley to buy your own cleaner.
- Q: What are the advantages and disadvantages of acrylic carpet? How about the household?
- Its resilience, heat preservation, light fastness, dyeability are worse than wool carpets; man-made fibers are flammable, easy to generate static electricity and dust adsorption. Acrylic carpet shortcomings, in fact, the application of modern science and technology can be improved. Acrylic carpets on the market are mostly flame - proof and antistatic. Therefore, consumers in the choice of time, as long as the acrylic fiber carpet has been checked anti - combustion, anti-static treatment, then an economical and cost-effective acrylic carpet was picked home.
- Q: What type of rugs do you need for a horse? And when and why do you use them? Thanks
- I use a 1200D winter blanket with extra insulation on cold days, and a 600D winter blanket with regular insulation all day, every day, beginning february to start help them shedding out. He also get's a hood, but it gets checked and adjusted several times/day as they can become a hazard. During summer days, my horse get's a fly scrim with UV protection, and a night he get's a polar fleece rug with double front enclosures and crossunder belly straps (which becomes a royal pain to keep clean, but it keeps him warm and cozy at night.) After showers or getting sweaty, he get's a square polar fleece sheet that just loops on the halter and in front of the neck. Rainy/drizzly days he gets a water proof turnout, and on cold rainy days he gets the polar fleece underneath the water proof turnout. I get lots of rugs and sheets and blankets from reining, so he has quite a variety for all weather conditions. For other horses that don't get checked several times throughout the day, I would suggest not blanketing unless necessary. A lot can go wrong with blankets, and horses are always getting in trouble haha
- Q: I have a espresso colored round table (i think its about 4' or 5' diameter) and it also incleds a leaf to extend the table into an oval shape. I am trying to decide what kind of rug i should get for underneath the table (there is ceramic tile in this area). Its going into the formal living and dining room in the house which is the first you room you enter when you come into the house. The entire room is about 13' wide by 22' long. There will also be a buffet by the table taking off about 2' or so from the width. This is what i was thinking1. getting a big square rug (about 8x8)2. getting a rectangle rug (either 5'x8' or 8'x11')Let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks for your input!
- 1] is buffet on long wall or short wall? How big is actual dining area? 13' x 11'? or smaller? [ also subtract the two feet from buffet space ] 2] rug should be about 2.5 feet wider and longer than the table to allow chairs to move back and forth freely; so you need a rug at least 6.5' or 7.5' by 8' or 9'. depending on table and leaf's actual size. 4] do measure the table and leaf for accuracy before making any purchase. 5] buy some graph paper; cut out table, chair, buffet and rug sizes; and play with pieces for best look. . 6] I would buy one that covers most of area. - so 8' x 11'.
- Q: I was cleaning my room, and the rug smelled funny so I got some carpet cleaner spray and some water, and scrubbed a large section of it. And that was like 2 days ago!And it still feels soaking wet.I'm scared it might mold. And I'm not sure if my mom is going to get one of those rug cleaner vaccums. And ideas on how I can dry the carpet?
- Sounds like you used too much water to clean the carpet, and didn't soak any of it up. Grab a towel or two lay them over the spot and walk around on top of the towels to soak up the excess water. Then, grab a fan and turn it on high, and set it so that it blows over the carpet. This will help to circulate the air and make it dry faster. A carpet should really only take about 20-60 minutes (give or take the type of carpet) to dry when being cleaned. When I shampoo my carpet, it dries pretty quickly, usually about 30 minutes or so. You should give your mom a heads up on what you did. She may want to rent a carpet cleaner to try to rid the carpet of the smell if it's still around.
- Q: Hello, my cat keeps peeing on the rug in the laundry room. My mom has to wash the rug daily becasue she pees on it during the day. The rug is bigger with a rubber bottom,is that the problem? She also used to pee on the bathroom rug and it was little, with also a rubber bottom and we had to get rid of that rug.My mom hasnt taken her to the vet yet...does anyone have and easy and simple recipies to get her away from the rug? Thanks Taylor :)
- She may need to be taken to the vet, she may have UTI, or Urinary Tract Infection, our older cat has this and she pees on the coach. You may either need to remove the rug from the room, however she may pee on the floor, get her a litter box in the laundry room, or sanitize the rug very well. You could also replace the rug with something water proof, if that would work in your house. I found some symptoms of UTI in cats and you may check to see if your cat has any of them! Good Luck with your cat and I hope that I helped you out!
- Q: my brother was painting my room, and paint got on the carpet.ive been removing it with nail polish remover (acetone) so i was wondering if the acetone is bad for the carpet or is it fine?PLEASE ANDSWER!
- For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/Gmwh7 I'd try to get to the store and get non-acetone nail polish remover. The acetone can melt the fibers in the carpet leaving you a bare spot instead of a blue one. I've heard lighter fluid, alcohol and sugar/water kind of paste.....I think I'd go with the non-acetone remover if you can get ahold of some. Or if worse comes to worse.....go over it with blue nail polish....
- Q: How can I remove wax from may carpet?
- The trick is to use an iron on a medium to low setting. If it is a lot of wax, use an old towel instead of a paper sack so it doesn't spread over a larger area of carpet. Be especially careful if it is colored wax.
