Q: my brother is balding, he wants to get a rug and says they look great......he can afford it but it costs a ton.....I said just shave your head...what do you think??.........carpet it or shave it clean?: Not a fan of a rug but bald is in!

Q: If landlord was to replace carpet with our security deposit does it, by some type of law or anything in Florida, have to be of equal or lesser value than the carpet originally in there? Or can he just get really fancy carpet and charge us up the ***?: Replaced carpet has to be reasonably same quality carpet. Since you have no knowledge of what was paid, the quality/pile/density, etc. there's really no way you could argue this. But generally if a renter is the type of person that damaged a carpet enough to need replacing, they shouldn't be arguing the matter anyway. These kinds of renters either have kids or animals that have destroyed it, or they themselves did it and had no regard for what happened afterward. In such a case there's really no one that would blame a landlord for anything he'd do to fix the place up afterward. Don't let yourself be one of those types of renters. It's supposed to be your home albeit temporary...it's not an animal crate.

Q: are there any home made recipes i can use for removing stains out of the carpet?thanks.: when you're trying to remove a spot, you need to subtract, not add. vaccuum the carpet when it's dry. then use a damp white towel. If this isn't doing much, you can go to non-ammonia windex or rubbing alchohol. avoid any other detergents or over-the counter spot removers, as they can set spots in or cause bleaching(and yes, oxi- labeled cleaners can do that too). some spots are permanent, but if you avoid harsh chemicals, a pro will at least have a fighting chance. Using the harsh chemicals can eliminate that chance.

Q: My dog peed on the rug in the bathroom, I know urine has ammonia in it, so would it be okay if I used bleach or would that create a deadly toxin. Can anybody help with this.: you could use bleach but that would just stain the rug. if the spot has dried,wet the spot slightly then pour some bicarbonate of soda down.leave for a while (over night or a few hrs) that will draw the smell out. brush the soda of once you've left it for a while. then clean it with a anti bac carpet cleaner and pat dry.if its small enough you could put it in the washing machine. if the smell is still lingering coffee is good for removing smells. put in down dry on dry fabrics leave again for a while then hover off,you might have to do this a few times,but it should work! hope that helps xxxx

Q: How long will the carpet flame retardant have effect after spraying on the carpet?: Carpet flame retardant is a lie, it is useless.

Q: Our house is currently covered in carpet. We have a dog who sheds and has occasional accidents in the carpet. I'm debating whether or not to switch to hardwood floors. I would like to to the floating because of cost. Does anyone have advice? Should I stick it out with carpet? Is wood that much easier?: I like the hardwood but with your dog lays the question. Unless you clean the mess up quickly the boards will soak up btween seams and will raise at that location. Been there done that. Buy and extra package of flooring for replace. Hardwood with small area rugs work the best, you can wash the rugs

Q: Its almost thanksgiving which means lots of guest! I have nasty old stained grey carpet. what can I do in only a weeks time?: Ollie has some nice areas rugs also (if you have that store in your area). Or, pull up the carpet if you have wood underneath. Our carpet was NASTY and we just pulled it up, but beware. It took us 2 solid weekends to pull up the carpet, take out the staples (thousands of them) and wash (3x) and map and glo (3x) the floors. They look good now, but it was a lot of work. Got rugs at Ollie's. Two similiar ones - same colors, different patterns. (Thanks to Yahoo.Answers!) Also, you can use vinegar to clean the carpets. We did that last year. Rent the rug doctor but use a vingear solution. I think 1 c white vinegar to 1 gallon of water. Good Luck!
