Brief introduction about XLPE Insulated Power cable

- Q: Suppose load is 100KW, length 50m, how to calculate cable size. If we know current Is any easy mathod to calculate cable size.
- Cable sizes aren't easily calculated. That's why standard sizes appeared ; like NEC IEC. You can search for tables of standard size of cables in the internet. For the above case, I think u'll have to use 3 phase circuit. So Calculate the current in each phase then accordingly get the corresponding cross section area from the standard table. - Q: my friend and i were installing a subwoofer in his car and the rem cable touched the amp and caused a short. the cd player does not turn on any more and we could not find any problem anywhere the only fuse blown was the fuse on the power wire for the amp and that should not have any effect on the cars cd player what could be wrong? (the fuse on the back of the cd player was not blown this leads me to believe there is nothing wrong with the cd player and it is not fried)
- 1, why was the power wire hot, should have the batter disconnected before anything else sounds like it sent a power spike into the cd player, try to manually put power from a known 12v constant course to both the memory and key on power wire to the cd player, if still nothing you have an internal problem with the cd player, if it comes on you have a problem with the car wiring
- Q: Can I do the big 3 upgrade by only doing the 2 ground cables(battery to chassis and engine block to chassis) now and doing the power to the alternator at another time? Will this give me a little performance boost until I can get enough material?
- Yes, that is fine. That is what i did in my car because it was a pain to get to the alt and i had a new one on the way. My voltage was dropping to around 13 volts before i upgraded the two grounds and after it never dropped much past 13.5. It is more of a problem to upgrade power cable and not the grounds, not to upgrade grounds and not power.
- Q: I bought a power wire off a dealer and in order to connect it to the battery I don't have the little fuse box at the end like most people have. Is this necessary for installation? Cause my friend said it might cause a fire..im no expert?
- The fuse isnt mandatory but its a good thing to have if your drawing alot of power then you will need it ive blown like 4 then i upgraded no more blown fuses but ya you should get one
- Q: Physically, I want to know what the cable looks like around the part that plugs into the laptop. I have a kink in the cable around that point, but don't know if cutting it and soldering is an option, depending on how complicated that part of the cable is. - Q: power cables of 630 mm buried (cable trench) what could be the reason for fire?
- a power surge can definitely cause a cable fire. but i believe insulation failure tops that, in buried cables in particular. and insulation failure is prompted more often with cables that come in direct contact with the earth, rather than those that may be run through piping, deterioting the insulation even faster. of course if the cable is damaged by digging, that could start a fire as well.
- Q: I have a power adapter that changes the tip of a power cable from the US standard to the Spain standard. My laptop has 3 prongs and the adapter accepts 2. It fits into it, but the 3rd prong just rests outside. I know the voltage over there is twice as strong, so will this work correctly?
- i hope to goodness this is not just a gimmick that changes from round plugs to flat plugs...make sure it down-steps the voltage too!!! but otherwise, yeah. the third prong is not essential in any country, it's just a safety feature - many homes in the US even don't have it. my one friend installed fake electrical sockets that have the hole for the third prong (but the hole is not connected to anything) and her laptops work fine.

- Any standard computer power cable will do. The same kind you plug into a standard power supply or a monitor. I swap them all the time.

- for the original xbox thats right, OK first step: 1: get an ethernet cable 2: get a DSL modem 3: Hook up modem to wall 4: hook ethernet cable to back of xbox 5: go to the dashboard thingy,(dont know what it is on original) 6: go to xbox live and purchase it.
