- Q: I need a replacement tip/end for my laptop power cable- specifically, the small cylindrical metal-and-black-plastic bit that plugs into my laptop. The cable and black box part of the cable are working fine, but the tip has bent and I need a new one. I'm having trouble finding any on OKorder or elsewhere because I don't know the technical term for the component to search for. Can anyone help?
- this is the ac power adaptor , go on the web site for your particular make of laptop check the spec for it.it should be in the part that lists accessories.
- Q: The difference between high voltage overhead cables and high voltage cables
- Clean the copper wire to be welded, and dip a little solder paste or rosin before welding.
- Q: I just moved to the UK, and I have a US xbox 360 slim, I still have the power brick and everything. My friend here has a power cable that will fit the US power brick (it is from his UK xbox). Can I plug in the UK cable to the US power brick then plug it like I normally would into my 360? Or will that fry the power adapter or xbox? Thanks!!
- Ya you can plug it in. It should be fine b/c its all emitting the same amount of power. I think. lol
- Q: Can i make the CAT 5 speaker cable, explained on many websites, as a 4 gauge power wire from my battery to my amp?
- ohh h*ll no! theres no way in h*ll that wud work, those wires would overheat and melt so fast with the amount of power that needs to be flowing through them. 4 guage wire is reasonably cheap. do it right, don't blow your car up
- Q: While DISCONNECTED from the amp, I accidentally touched the power cable with the ground cable. Sparks went flying and I smelt a funny odor. Since then, when I go to turn on my radio, my amp only lights up for a second and then looses power. Unfortunately, I feel I've fried my ground wire (upon close inspection, the power/battery cables fuse is still good along with amp signal wire and RCA's) My question is simply this: When replacing my ground wire, can I use left over power/battery cable? I have about 3 feet left over from the install. Thank you for your help!!
- Theoretically, yes. I would make sure I was the only one using the system or messing around with it just to make sure no one mistakes it for a power cord. Also, wrapping each end with black electrical tape will work to identify it is a ground cable, being that black is universally known for ground. If you feel like wasting good money, wrap the whole cord with black electrical tape. Also, keep it away from professional installers so they do not mix it up, or just let them know it is a ground. Just keep it short enough so that it actually works as a ground (most manuals recommend less than 3 feet)
- Q: I have a HP Printer and have lost my power cable, now I am having trouble identifying the type of lead that goes in the hole (see pic link)I am in the UK
- What is the model number of your HP printer? Is it the C3180? I am looking for a power adapter for the C3180, and I believe the HP AC Adapter model number 0957-2178 is the correct one, but I'll find out for sure in a few days as I am ordering one. If you tell me the model number of your HP printer, I may be able to help you out because I have learned a lot about HP printer AC Adapters in the last few hours.
- Q: I have 2 subs and a amp, I have a hi/low converter so it will be able to work. I hooked it all up properly and i noticed i have a empty space on my amp. Its the power control cable. I have no idea how to hook this up to my FACTORY deck. Do i hook it up to the antenna? PLEASE HELP I NEED A ANSWER NOW please thanks-
- continuously flow with a smart harness which you would be able to get at radioshack..you'll be able to need an antenna adapter. fool data way and defintitely quite certainly worth the money because it makes it a cinch to place in in sprint or flow reason you do not could decrease your production unit wires....
- Q: The reason being is that I just got a new case and my power supply does not have enough 4-pin male power cables to actually hook everything up. The power supply is 750 watts, so it is strong enough to carry all of the charges. I just can't find one. Help?
- Huh? Devices like ATA hard drives, CD drives, case fans etc have male connectors so what's needed are extra female power leads. So that cable you linked should work. What are you trying to connect?
- Q: Is the ribbon cable the data cable and the wires the power cables?
- You are correct. Power cables will always have 4 or more separated wires going into a plug. Data cables have all of their internal wires inside a single sheath.
- Q: specifically, I am using a router. I lost the original cable...can I use a different one?ThanksMatt
- yes and no, you need to know what the device wants, you need to know whether its taking ac or dc power, polarity, and amps. amps is more for laptops, other appliances are usually dumber, and will ignore that. On a standard plug, the round one on the opposite end of the wall end, you need to know the polarity, some where on the adapter you should see a symbol like this +C- (now, that's the best I can do with ASCII characters) or backwards, -C+, this tells you whether positive currents(+) and negative currents (-) are on the inside or outside of the plug. you need to match that symbol with the one on your device. Next: on the adapter, it should say somewhere input: 120 V AC output: 12v DC the numbers will probably be different, but the input and output need to match. if your working with laptop adapters, if you didn't buy the adapter specifically for the computer, double check amps too, if your charging like, an mp3 player that uses the trapezoid usb plug off a Motorola Razor wall charger with the same plug, I don't know, I've tried, didn't work well, kind of worked I guess, I wouldn't recommend it.
