4. Impeller Design Characteristics

- I assume you're asking about a car water pump. Inside of the pump casing is an impeller (a disc or wheel with vanes). The impeller is connected to a shaft that's connected to a pulley wheel driven by the drive belt from another pulley wheel mounted on the engine shaft. The pump, the radiator and the hoses make up a water filled, enclosed system. - Q: it's not doing anything. about a month ago, i changed the pressure switch because it the water just suddenly stopped (like now), and after changing it, it worked again. I did noticed that after changing the pressure switch, it was tripping a lot (the pressure switch). when the water pump stopped again (this time), i went a bought another pressure switch thinking that it was the same problem, but this time it didn't solve the problem. Came to find out later, that the pressure switch that i had changed about a month ago, it was wired incorrectly - maybe that's why it was tripping a lot? so i did wired this one correctly, but still didn't work. Did i burned the pump? another note here is that it has been less than a year that i changed the water pump. - Easiest way to tell is to bypass the pressure switch and connect the pump motor wire directly to incoming power and manually run the pump until you reach shut off pressure... use your circuit breaker to do this.. My guess is that when you wired it the wrong the first time you forced the pump to shut off by way of an overload protector on the motor and either the protector is bad now or the motor is

- There is no optimum time. This is dependent on several factors. Assuming you are pumping into a small tank which is pressurized by the inflow of water from the pump (and the pressure also controls the pump) these reasons can be excessive use of water, the air space at the top of your tank has been absorbed into the water over a period of time and the volume of compressed air too small causing the pressure to drop too fast, or you could have leak in your water piping. If there is not enough air space in your tank, the pump will cycle extremely fast. If you don't have a tank, then the above information is incorrect. Good luck.

- You should be able to buy a timing belt kit. The kit usually includes a timing belt, tensioner, idler, balancer shaft belt(if applicable). Some even include the cam and crank seals. Water pump is usually sold separate. You should also get a head cover gasket and the spark plug tube seals since you have to pull the valve cover. Last thing would be drive belts since they come off as well to do the job depending on their condition. 1 gallon of coolant. As far as tools you'll need a 10mm,12mm,14mm,17mm and a 19mm wrench and sockets, wratchet, extensions, screw drivers etc... If your doing the job yourself the hardest part will be removing the crank bolt. A powerfull impact gun is needed or a special crank bolt removal tool used for Honda's. A manual to line up the belt and a floor jack and jack stand.One last thing if you do the job yourself, Be sure the marks are aligned properly because if not BAD THINGS will happen$$$$ Good luck and hope this helps.
