Q: i have had a shag rug for more than a year and the area my kids love to sit it is all smooshed down.....even when i vaccuum...The area under my coffe table is like it used to be when i vaccuum. how can i make it pop back up like it used to?
on top of that- using a leaf rake helps to flff it back up.
Q: ok my parents are saying that they want to have wood floor in both of the living room also in the hall ways and they also want rugs in the bedroomwhat do u think
Yes! Hardwood floors increase a home's value because they outlast carpet and linoleum, and tend to look more sophisticated (unless they're installing those 2 1/2 inch wide oak planks that you see in more outdated homes. I hope they don't go smaller than 3 wide because wider planks are more in style now). By the way, the 5-6 planks look more country or Victorian and can look amazing in the right house. With hardwood floors you have the option bare wood or carpets/rugs on it, but with carpet you have only the option of carpet. With hardwood floors, you can change the look of a room simply by changing the rugs (it's like how throw pillows can change the look of a couch). I have Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors in dining, kitchen, breakfast nook, hall, laundry, and foyer and everyone loves them except our dog. Our dog can't get any traction and slips and slides so we had to put down a lot of rugs just for her. I think they're just as easy/hard to clean as tile or carpet, by the way. Hope this helped!
Q: I have a dog and I still couldn't teach him where to pee and potty. So, I m planning to buy a carpet cleaner. Should I go with the Rug Doctor, which I used to rent and know it cleans perfect but very expensive ($700). or should I buy any other cheaper brand? Actually I don't want to spend that much for a carpet cleaner. Do you think Bissell Proheat 2X 8920 ($194) works fine for pet stains?
Instead of investing in a rug doctor try some pet stain and odor eliminator to treat the areas and then some pet OFF which smells terrible and the dog won't go there again. The dog needs to be able to go outside or given an area to go. My dog can stay inside for 10 hours or more and waits for me to let him outside because I praise him when he wants to go out.
Q: Which is better of polypropylene carpet and nylon carpet? What is the difference between them?
The former is better
Q: okay, so i moved to college and back home my parents smoke and the 6'x10' rug i took to school smells of cigarettes. How can i get rig of that smell, any suggestions or advice. thanks.
If it is still hot in your area , take it outside and wash with a mild soap. The driveway with the lawn hose is the easiest.Find two lawn chairs and place the rug on these chairs, or crates, anything to help the water drain from it after washing. When most of the water is drained, throw it over the fence or line to complete drying. Use some degreaser on the rug while you are washing it. The smoke may have some oils in it . You can also rinse with some fabric softener, just mix in bucket first and pour over rug. Only soapy water will get things really clean, those carpet cleaners just cover smells and don't really get anything clean. I only recommed mild soap because I don't know what your rug is made of, if it is synthytic just use laundry detergent. I wash 20 area carpets every spring out of my home, some or wool, cotton, and mixed , even one silk, I don't have a problem, just make sure it is completely dry before bring it back in. If you can't do these things, go to the grocery and buy fabric spray for oders, they work pretty fair.
Q: I haven't vacuumed my carpet in over 2 months and its really dirty. I know its disgusting but I hate this flat so much and I rarely come here, just to sleep. My room mate has a vacuum but its a standing up one and I hate those which is why I hate doing it plus my room is small and has a lot of stuff in it (huge walldrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers, bedside table, 2 person sofa, storage boxes, 2 chairs). Anyway we have mice and I put down sticky pad things and I found what I think is silverfish on it so I REALLY want to clean it properly now. Should I buy a carpet cleaner? I heard using vinegar but I'm not sure how. How would you go about cleaning it? should I just vacuum it continuously for like 10 minutes lol? And yes I know its gross but I'm really lazy.... don't judge me =/
in case you have already contacted a criminal expert for this, i might stick to his advice. once you go away a condo, ask the corporate to do a stroll via on the time you go away. Take photos of the home finding great to back up your tale.
Q: We received a carpet bid for a room that is $2641.00. The next number is 52.44 installed and carpet only 39.44. I'm assuming this is yards? Does that sound like an average price for a slightly above average carpet? For about 200 square feet, is $7/sq. ft an average cost for tile and $1700 total including materials? Then still I have to pay labor separate. It is a unique tile in a unique shape, not square but rectangular.
The carpet , I need more info on since most of those numbers don t make sense with out knowing the s/f of the room to be carpeted. The 39.44 and the 52.44 sound like a square yard price and to give you a price like that is against the law. All carpet must be given in a s/f price format.. I used to have carpet that installed at 52.44 a s/y but it was excellent carpeting.. So I don t know about the carpet until I get more info, but its sounding high.. The tile could be 7$ a s/f if its unique like you say.. The installed price with the materials is a bit high but not totally out of line at all. Your installation area could explain that.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: My cat is constantly scratching my oriental rugs. They are extremely old and she's just always on them. Does anyone know if she can do any damage to them? If so, is there anything I can put on them to keep her off?
Heck yes she can damage them. If they are that old and valuable, either take them up, or put them into a room where she cannot get into.
Q: The carpet rubber floor is glued to the floor. How can it be removed?
With banana water. Is used to remove paint an industrial agent, it is very easy to buy (sell paint there is a place to sell). The method is the same as alcohol acetone.
Q: Any time it rains my carpet feels damp..(no leaks) I have a brick home...Any suggestions?
It could be rain getting on your door and then leaking down and into you house.
