Q: Is it more affordable to buy your own carpet cleaning equipment and clean your own carpets or is it more affordable to hire someone from a carpet cleaning company?
Really, will a hundred dollar machine compete evenly with a professional carpet cleaners twenty thousand dollar, van equipped, engine powered carpet extraction machine. No, not in a million years. A Bissell or Hoover type carpet cleaner can only be described as a toy. The pro comes ready to clean with 100 gallons of super hot, softened, and treated water, super suction and extraction. No soap residue is left in the carpet. The toy machines leave a soapy residue that leads to carpets that quickly become re soiled. The pro also carry's numerous products that are at his disposal to treat a numerous variety of stains and odors. Carpets are a big, if not huge, investment for most home owners. Use reason and common sense before you blow a hundred dollars.
Q: I have this rug that's in my garage that I want to put in my room. It used to be in my old room when I was younger but I don't want to put it in my room because I had it in my room when I was 12-14 (Now 17) and it was a horrible time, I used to get in trouble, grounded, awkward moments, just horrible stuff. I know I'm being superstitious but I don't want to have bad luck in my room. I think that If I put the rug in my room it will invite all that bad. I really want to put it in my room but I can't.It will bring back all those bad times. How do I overcome this? And is it bad luck? Help please.
There is no such thing as luck. If something we can't explain happens, and it's good we say we had good luck, and opposite if bad things happen we say we had bad luck. Luck good or bad is a state of mind. You must stop associating the rug with the bad times of the past. Think about it, the rug had nothing to do with the things that happened in the past. If your life has changed, and your more stable in your daily affairs the rug will not change that. It may be good to put it in your room you did write that you liked the rug, and that you would like to put it in your room. I say go for it. After a short time of it being back in the room, you should be able to let the past, and the fact that the same rug was on the floor go. Make new, good memories to replace the old bad ones that the rug reminds you of. It's not the Rug sweetie.
Q: I am looking into buying a good carpet cleaning machine. I have looked at some brands like Bissel (spelling?)... and Hoover. Anyone know anything about them or own one? Are the supplies for them expensive? I also want something that wont leave a residue. Thanks for any help!
Renting a rug doctor's the best way to go, commercial quality equipment without having to buy it. Otherwise the bissell proheat series is good. Hoover not so great in my experience....
Q: I just spilled coke on the cream colored carpet and just scrubbed it down with a wet wash cloth thoroughly. The problem is that I don't know if it will stain when it dries. How can I get the stain out if it occurs without ruining the carpet. I live in an apartment and don't want any damage.
Pour club soda on the spill as soon as possible and cover the spot with clean, light-coloured towels or rags and stand on them. Continue to pour and absorb until all the colour from the stain has been blotted up and the towel is coming up clean. Follow up with a good carpet stain remover. When you spot-clean carpet, never rub, as it will only spread the stain and will cause abrasion to the carpet fibers. If the stain is old still try the club soda---it will lighten the stain. After using your carpet spotter, if the stain is still present, saturate with hydrogen peroxide or undiluted lemon juice. Wait 15 minutes to blot. Continue to apply making sure you aren't lightening the carpet. For red wine stains use white wine and salt and follow with club soda and carpet spotter.
Q: I recently bought an ikea rug, which isn't exactly an area rug, but is big enough not to put in a washer. I vacuum it regularly, but it is a white rug with big colourful blobs, and the dirt off of my feet can be seen in certain spots.. I was wondering if anyone knew how to clean it.. I was just going to buy a carpet cleaner and scrub it, but there are multiple spots with dirt. Also, I'm not sure if the colours are going to bleed if I try to do that.. I don't really want to buy a steam cleaner, but I guess if that is my only option.. but again i don't want the colours to bleed.Any info is appreciated! Thanks!
The clothesline and backyard hose approach is what I do with small section rugs. in case you have any way of soaking it with a carpet cleansing answer first, that helps plenty. There are backyard sprayers that can try this actually properly. do no longer use a detergent, or any purifier that makes suds. it incredibly is too demanding to get all of it out and any remants would have a tendency to charm to airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dirt whilst they are dry. Even windex may well be extra suited than no longer something. attempt to do it on an afternoon whilst it incredibly is going to likely be heat and dry for long sufficient to get the rug a minimum of quite often dry till now you deliver it indoors.
Q: Please define a "RUG" ?
it is a piece of fabric, generally a carpet type with a loop or pile that is used as a floor covering( unlike a carpet it is not attached to the floor and is movable), it can also be made out of heavy braided cotton fabric or even recycled plastic bags. also, in american slang a rug will also refer to a man's hairpiece or toupee
Q: I finally convinced my parents to let me have a pony which we are looking for now! Theres only one problem..rugs! I know I need at least one turnout,a stable, A travel/cooler to start with. I'm just not sure what type of turnout rug to get(heavyweight, medium, light) for (i) a 14.2hh pony with a trace clip(ii) a 14.2 pony with a blanket clip(iii) a 14.2hh pony with a full clipBy the way its Irish/Brittish weatherI just dont want the pony to be too warm as its spring or too cold if we have any cold spells! Thanks
you need a summer one you need a rain one you need a thick one for the cold days you need a cooler for after riding blah blah blah. and a fleece. That's about it. BUT you can find waterproof summer ones, so you can narrow that down to one (2 in 1! YAY!)
Q: I've bought 3 area rugs Persian style from Ikea and put it on the top of the carpet. they were $70 a piece and they are around55 to 70.they are very beautiful but I keep tripping over them. they wrinkle. I put heavy furniture on them. they move a little bit now, but still wrinkle and not safe to walk on themcan someone please tell me where can I buy good large carpet area? thanks.
Most of them will move and wrinkle unless they're very heavy. What you need to do with the rugs you have is to buy some waffle weave non-skid stuff to put under the rugs. You can even tape it on the rug with masking tape or carpet tape. Ikea sells it, called Stopp, and they also have a felt underlay called Stopp Filt. That stuff could increase the wrinkle resistance of the carpet if it's used. They sell stuff like the Stopp just about anywhere carpet is sold, and it comes in larger sizes that you can cut to fit.
Q: I mean, he can sleep on the couch, on his bed, on our beds, even the pillow pet is softer than the carpets! He prefers sleeping on entrance mats, the carpet in front of my fridge, the carpet in front of my stove and on the carpet under my bed. It's cute, but weird.
My cats are the same as yours. Couldnt figure it out. My husband solved the riddle for me. It was what was under the carpet. Heat ducts ran where they slept and it was the warmth that mine were seaking. Hope this helps
Q: I have white carpet and after years of living we have accumulated many stains throughout the house. It always looks dirty! I own a carpet shampooer and use it frequently but a week later the stains resurface and it all looks yucky again. Do you have a good stain pre-treater for me? Or any other suggestions?
It's time to pull up the carpet. At this point with all the wear and tear, it has become a reservoir of germs, allergens, and dust mites. It's nasty and ugly and you deserve new carpet. Mother's day is coming up and new carpet is on the agenda of wishes. Have a great week.
