Q: My house is 5 years old. The carpet looks like it is 15 years old (cheap builders carpet). I have 2 dogs (both about 50lbs) and a cat. We are trying for our first child. Would you reccommend the hardwood laminate flooring or a better quality carpet?
Hard one to call. We had all carpeting until the little one got old enough so that she wasn't falling down all the time. Then I ripped it out and put down laminate in the bedrooms and tile in the living room. I like the idea of laminate over carpet, but be vigilant with the kid ; spills that are not discovered and picked up right away can ruin laminate.
Q: I am redoing a room. Should it be painted before new carpeting? I want the baseboards nicely painted. Just not sure what should be done first.
There is not a wrong or right answer to this question. I always recommend to paint first, that way you don't have to worry about getting paint on your new carpet. Be sure to pull the old carpet away from your baseboards, just to make sure you don't get aline that will show if the new carpet that goes in is shorter. If you really are replacing the carpet it is easy to take a utility knife and just cut about an inch into the existing carpet and pull that part away from the wall. If you are having to live with the carpet for while, then just take an edger and pull the carpet back as you paint. If boards get scuffed when new carpet goes in, it is easy to touch up the scuffed areas. You might want to paint as much as 30 days in advance to give the paint a chance to cure out, less chance of scuffing as paint will be harder, not soft.
Q: I'm house sitting at my mom's friend's house and their dog threw up on carpet. I found some cleaning supplies but none for carpet.
Go to any pet store and get a bottle of a product called Nature's Miracle. This contains an enzyme that breaks down proteins in bodily fluids, like urine, blood, and vomit. This then eliminates the odor. I would also recommend you get the stuff in the orange bottle instead of the white bottle. It contains oxyclean, which further helps eliminate the stains. Just pour it on liberally directly onto the carpet. If there's still some solid matter, you can wipe this up with a rag. Then cover the area with an old towel and let it sit overnight. The towel will wick up any excess liquid and be a warning not to step there. The next day, remove the towel and let it air dry. If it still smells, apply it again until it goes away.
Q: At my house i want to replace my carpet, and i do not know what to do next after i take off my carpet?? can anyone please help me to replace my carpet??please help!!!
Wall to wall....remove the old carpet and padding, check tack strips if still okay, vaccum floor, lay new padding, cut and stretch new carpet...better have an installer!
Q: this is for my rs work and i dont know what rangoli carpets are please help thanks! xxx
According to research, the Rangoli carpet takes its name from the classic Hindu mosaics made with powder speckled with colours. Starting in the centre, the pattern spreads out towards the edges creating a circumference of borders. The shapes are drawn one by one, and as they are repeated, are transformed into a great ornament.
Q: I have puppy pee stains on my carpet and i want to get it clean, i do have a upright carpet cleaner(bissel)what will work best?
1001 is the best for stains it actually cleans, get's rid of odour. It is perfect for any stains, I use it all the time (like the other day i had to get rid of my cat's pee stains) .< It is great and you can find it anywhere, it is a yellow bottle and it says big 1001! :) :D
Q: My dog got ahold of a ball point pen and chewed it up on my tan carpet. My husband decided to leave it alone for three days till i got home. How do I remove a three day old Blue ink stain from light tan carpet? Peroxide did nothing, hairspray lightened it. Carpet spot remover did nothing. I have people coming for the holidays please help.....Thanks Shaye
You will probably need to resort to a solvent type cleaner that will actually dissolve the ink, especially now that it is dry. Perhaps something like Energene would do the trick. GOOD LUCK!
Q: carpet seems to be deteriorating and flying in air..manufacturerer says it is not from their carpet. By using wet sponge, I collect specimens from around edges of carpet that are the color of the carpet and look like wet cardboard.
Good heavens, that's strange. Did you buy this carpet yourself, or was it already there? Do you know what the material is? I have lived in five houses with wall-to-wall carpeting and have never, ever seen that. If you can't find out what the material is on the phone, then take a piece of it to Home Depot or a specialty carpeting store or someplace like that and get some help. If you have major problems with this, I would call your local television news station and get them interested in a faulty product story. This might pressure the carpeting manufacturer to pay some attention to your issue. One final note though: whoever owned the carpet before you might have applied some kind of product to the carpet which is causing its detioration. Good luck.
Q: Is there any great carpet cleaners in torrington, Connecticut? I just moved in to my new condo and the carpets are just plain nasty and I need to get them cleaned! Looking to find carpet cleaners to do a great job at a competitive price.
Yes okorder
Q: Can anyone suggest the best carpet cleaner ( aside from a steam cleaner...) for a light-tan-old carpet? The stains are from the previous owners; but, also, are over active puppies bladder... Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated... Thanks...
Potassium permanganate. It will turn everything purple, but it will oxidize the hell out of anything in or on the carpet. Those stains will be gone! But your carpet will be purple.
