- Q: I currently operate a rug store that sells almost all persian rugs in Santa Rosa California (in the San Fransisco bay area). Operation is rather stable but I have two issues.1. I sell high quality rugs and hence the prices are more expensive reflecting the quality. However, many customers can find designs similar to mine on the internet at 1/3 to 1/4 of the price. (internet is 600, mine are 3000). If you put the rugs side by side you can DEFINATELY tell the drastic difference in quality. How should I cope with this?2. I am hoping to think of an idea used to promote the sale of these rugs. Any sort of promotion would be great just to get people to start buying.I have money to spend on ideas. - You sell such a luxury item that your client base is much smaller. You have to infiltrate the market by showing that you have great taste and an eye for quality. Get a couple of high profile (rich, important, and powerful) clients and then word of mouth should help you immensely. It is all public relations. Hire a specialist if you must. Buy one of the cheaper rugs and have it on display (don't be real in your face with it-put it in a corner so that you can direct people to it if you need to make the point-keep the receipt on display and be genuine. Personally, I bought a handmade rug from Iran (I can immediately tell that it is better quality than whatever they sell at retail stores for twice the price (I bought it for $300 with shipping on OKorder). It is a low psi (120) with a thicker wool and some low pile, but you must remember that most people intend to have furniture, children, and feet on their rugs. I don't mind the lower quality because I don't feel the pressure of keeping it pristine when I bought it for function (then beauty). If you wanted to expand your client base you could open a seperate place that dealt with the more affordable and function driven rugs that would cost under $1000, but still be better quality than synthetic machine woven options. - A true pad won t really work since it ll bunch up,make it to thick and cause a tripping hazard.. What you should use is a special mat made just for rugs over hardwood. This type allows the rug to stay it place w/o slipping and bunch up, allows the wood to properly breathe and not stain the wood . These are bought any where wood and flooring are sold, just get the kind made for rugs over wood. Since you know your rug size you can get the closest size to your rug. - I have never heard of a Girraffe coat or rug or a Polar Bear coat however, to find a Polar Bear Rug now may be very difficult and expensive but I would try the yellow pages in my community and call all the furriers listed especially if they sell Fur skins. You could even try the fur auctions such as the North Bay Fur Auction. Sorry I don't have a number.
- Q: I used a carpet shampooer along with a solution of natures miracle and a small scoop of oxy clean to clean my carpets. My cat had peed a spot in one of my rooms, so i just went ahead and shampooed all the carpet areas. I know that the Nature's miracle says that the carpet has to be 100% dry for the odors to go away. Well it has been over a week and I have noticed that everywhere I shampooed now smells horribly like cat urine! It is overwhelming! The carpet shampooer is kind of old, it was given to me, and I am wondering if it had some odors in it. I took the shampooer outside and took it apart and sprayed it with vinegar but I am scared to use it again because i think that it distributed the urine odor all over my house :( I don't know what to do, the cat urine odor is just everywhere now! What do i do to get rid of it....do i just need to get a new shampooer?
- You follow the cleaning with at least one rinse with clean, hot tap water. The color of the extraction will tell you if more rinses are necessary or not. To recap: 1 - Vacuum area to be cleaned thoroughly with a vacuum cleaner. 2 - Nature's Miracle to pretreat stains, let sit for at least 15 minutes. 3 - Pretreat entire area to be cleaned with an oxy clean solution, let sit for at least 15 minutes. 4 - Clean the area with carpet cleaning solution, using an extraction machine, following the manufacturer's instructions. 5 - Rinse freshly cleaned area with clean, hot tap water, using the extraction machine. 6 - Allow to thoroughly dry 7 - Vacuum with vacuum cleaner to remove any remaining loosened dirt.
